I'm in Namibia / South Africa and we have such a limited supplies of tools or pre-made gum paste etc. I finally imported this rose cutter, but I have made not less than 20 sets of gum paste - and my edges keep braking when rolling with my ball tool. If its not breaking, the edges comes nice, but its full of small cracks. Please help me.

  • your hands are greasey

  • @irishdance2007 she covered her hands with crisco

  • your hands look greasy

  • for those people in the Uk you can make sugar flowers with sugar florist paste which you can buy from any cake decorating shop. use cornflour instead of icing sugar to roll it out

  • thanks for the video very useful!!

  • can you get gumpaste in the uk?

i have never seen it but i have fondant ?

and also can you eat the flowers when they are hard?

  • Great vid EV

  • WOW!... nice flower i like it. how do you do it ?

  • that's a neat trick at 2:00 but can we do that when it's a little firmer?

  • nice...

  • yes there is such thing as gumpaste they taste diff and look and feel diff so u mite wanna get your fax from some were els

  • Everyone just to tell you there is no such thing as gum paste. It can be eaten. The gumpaste is actually is fondant.

  • I prefer using sugar glass (a type of sugar made to look and feel like glass when it's dried. Sounds like porcelain if you drop it or they tap against eachother. Gum paste is tempermental, and fondit is not preferred unless you know how to make it taste right.

  • @ryoko or anyone that can answer me PLEASE! confussed what do you mean by sugar glass is it what you use to make you flower. Can it be eaten? where can I get this sugar glass if it what is used to make the flowers. I am getting married in a month & would like to make these flowers to use as centerpieces. tks

  • @chernandez11115 there is a difference between sugar gum past flowers and sugar flowers. the sugar glass flowers is a very long and delicate process, my granddad used it a lot when he made cakes but I am not sure how many other cake decorators know how to make them. I am probably late in replying but that is due to some family issues, there is a site that will be far more helpful and I will pm you, if you still want the info. Hopefully I am not too late in replying.

  • cool not

  • She probably put some crisco or something on them to begin working with the gum paste, alot of bakers or candy makers do that to keep their hands from sticking to the project.

  • her hands look nasty

  • can you make these with fondant? i dont think you could pull as hard as she did to ruffle the edges, but could you do something similar?

  • You can try with fondant, but i dont think youll get the same effect. Gumpaste is alot firmer, stretchier than fondant, and drys rock hard, which is perfect for flower type decorations. Ive used both, fondant is ALOT harder to work with, so if your a beginner, your best of using gumpaste or petal / mexican paste for this sort of thing.

  • @xdevilxbabex2003 Just at tylose powder. In my country we dont get tylose powder so I use gum-trag.

  • I think icing roses look cheap. Any you can paint these flowers to make them look more realistic. If you're good at making gum paste flowers, they look really beautiful, not like grocery store flowers on a cake.

  • Making flowers with Gum paste looks more realistic than making them with iceing but it depends on peoples taste and how they want it to turn out (i also think its easyer than icing to

  • cant you jsut use water instead of egg white?

  • The egg white helps the gum paste stick better.

  • the paste is gum !

  • how the hell do u make the paste itself

  • the easiest way is to just buy it. Wiltons sells gumpaste thats already mixed. You just zip open the bag & use it.

  • well were could you buy that then

  • you can buy gum paste at walmart in the craft section by the wedding stuff you can also probably buy it at any craft store like hobby lobby or jo-annes if you can find a cake supply store in your area you can get a mix there

  • the description says "make a rose bug" xD

  • BUAHAHAHAH!! Rose BuG!

  • you can mix 1/2 tsp tylose powder (or CMC powder) with 4 tbsp of warm water to make a smooth glue :)

(be sure to refrigerate overnigth after you make it)

  • im not going to lie when i first started watching i thought the tools were unnecessary but wen i was watching my jaw dropped shows how much i no about this stuff nice job u have talent

  • I use confectioners glue you can buy it online on any sugarcraft websites.

  • can't you use water instead of egg whites if you use fondant?

  • doesnt using raw egg wites make the flower go off quicker?

  • Raw egg whites don't hurt you. It's raw egg yolk that will.

  • IS GUM PAST THE SAME AS FONDANT

  • is fondant the same as mazipan?

  • I want to know too..

  • No it's not. Marzipan is made out of grounded almonds.

  • no it's not.

  • No it's not. Fondant can be edible after you decorate a cake with it wich is not the same with gum paste. It dryes out rock hard, it's still "edible" but you'll break your teeth if you decide to try it :)

  • Fantastic tutorial. Thank you.

  • can u eat that?

  • this is so lovely!! thank you for sharing.

  • There's no harm in using egg whites as your glue for the gum paste, but it is completely pointless. Cold water is just as effective to hold gum paste pieces to itself, and it dries in a matter of minutes, just be careful that you don't use too much. Her technique for making roses is quite different than how I've been taught, but it does make a nice looking rose none-the-less.

  • Bakers use a pasteurized dried egg white product. It is often called Meringue Powder. It can be found in groceries under the name "Just Whites." It is perfectly safe to use in this application.

  • i mean good vid but raw egg on a dessert piece? c'mon now..

  • is the egg cook

  • It's raw.

  • What size cutter did you use for this rose?

  • What size cutter did you use for this rose?

  • Would like to know where you purchased your template to cut out the petals? Thank you for posting this video as it was very helpful!

  • That was amazing. I am still a begginer and am trying to get better. Gumpaste is very tempermental. Gotta work fast. You really do make it look easier than it is.

  • Can you eat these? I've never heard of gum paste roses, they're pretty!

  • You make it look so easy....

  • Thank you!!!!
