I first saw Three Amigos back in 1986 and Blue Shadows struck me to the core. When my first daughter was born in was born in 2009, it was the first lullaby that popped into my head when my little girl began to cry. Of course, cowboys had to became cowgirls and pals became gals and I added the acapella intro of, :The sun is down... The stars are out... The night owl's on the wing... If you listen on... The desert winds... You'll hear a cowboy sing..."
Randy took the idea from Roy Rogers. In 1940s Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers had a different song with the same theme but different composition. Newman took the premise and made it his own. Still though both songs are great but this version holds the best memories for me and my childhood.
@burn4you you said "NOT a randy newman song" and i said of course its not, its played by paul young and jamie moses. idk why you said its "NOT" a newman song. so i tried to inform you. makes sense?
@napkinshower I can read the title, so what is it that you are informing me of or adding to the conversation?? Doesn't matter who's playing it. It's not a Paul & Jaimie song either. Randy Newman wrote this, but my point is Roy Rogers was singing Blue Shadows on the Trail 50+ yrs ago. Randy Newman taking an old western lullabye written by someone else and rearranging it doesn't make it original. I was trying to give credit to the original song that many may not be aware of. Make sense?
@burn4you I have listened to both and they are different songs. Randy's song is a homage to the campfire songs sung in old cowboy movies. You seem to be confused in what you are saying. First you say NOT a Randy Newman song, then in a later post you say that Randy wrote it but in the same post you say that someone else wrote it and Randy rearranged it (wrong).
nice

@burn4you Just because two songs have similar titles doesn't make them the same song.
