The movie was scrapped the song remained unreleased for the longest of time. Then was leaked and got around. Freaking awesome. Not even planning to see the remake so disappointed with this "new cast" it should have remained on the shelf. Ugh

There wouldn't've been any recordings done for the film at such an early stage and without a final script. That's why I said this isn't likely to have been recorded for a "Sparkle" remake.

I am VERY protective, I guess you could say, over Sparkle so I was not excited about seeing this video (even though Aaliyah is a true true legend)! But she got it!! I don't think the music had the original blues feel at times but she definitely did Sparkle proud even doing it her way. This is good!

Sometimes I wish she liyah would have stepped more out of that falsetto. She had a very powerful alto mezzo-soprano lower register. The falsetto sounded sweet but its the reason why people thought and still think to this day that she was a weak singer. SHE SHOULDVE HAD MORE POWERFUL ballads. I guess the producers wanted to give her a unique sound and really paid on that term "street but sweet". There were other artists emerging when she did and her producers wanted to make her unique.

@aatre05 It was & she was scheduled to be in that future film. Sparkle is the movie directed by Whitney Houston. She was suppose to be in Sparkle, Honey, Matrix 2, Matrix 3, & You Got Served. She accomplished finishing Romeo Must Die & Queen Of The Damned. 7 Movies in all she was going to appear in. She wouldve taken over hollywood films & gotten Oscars. She should have her name on the Walk Of Fame.

Sometimes I wish she liyah would have stepped more out of that falsetto. She had a very powerful alto mezzo-soprano lower register. The falsetto sounded sweet but its the reason why people thought and still think to this day that she was a weak singer. SHE SHOULDVE HAD MORE POWERFUL ballads. I guess the producers wanted to give her a unique sound and really paid on that term "street but sweet". There were other artists emerging when she did and her producers wanted to make her unique.

I'm so upset right now, because I feel as soon as Aaliyah passed a certain unoriginal bitch copped all what she was supposed to do, but Aaliyah was the best to ever do it. Sparkle is the original film, dreamgirls came out of...it was based on Sparkle. Aaliyah would have definately won an oscar for best supporting actress if she had a chance to film this. 2004 she would of copped that oscar award. I hope they release this song for her 10th anniversary next year.

The sad part about it is, she actually put in the time to work and progress. She didn't sell her soul or back stab anybody to achieve instant fame. I don't know why she was taken so soon. Just seeing your comment, and watching all of this Aaliyah footage that I haven't seen before, it's heartbreaking. Knowing that she could have gave Beyonce a run for her money, with the pedestal Beyonce is placed on, it would have been beautiful to see somebody that was humble and actually down to earth do it. Her legacy continues but it could have been much more, omg.

She would have set the standard, and this would have been Aaliyah's oscar moment. I still kick myself she's no longer on earth...so heartbreaking.

@huggybear1218 I know. Aaliyah had more passion in her acting. She would have been a great Deena because she naturally had the thin appearance and she was much softer than Beyonce. I could easily see her looking hurt while being used by Curtis in the move.
