  • Fabulous videos Cheryl, I have the same Bond you have and it is great, I did purchace the USM carriage because the old Bond carriage seams to loop stitched rather than knitting them, especially on keyplate 2 yarns I don't know if you found that, the only thing I don't like about the USM carriage is that it is jiggley on the needle bed compared to the old Bond carriage being very secure on the front and back rail, do you know why the USM carriage is like this?

  • @Thesweaterfactory And I'm glad you like the videos. It's kind of you to tell me that. Thank you.

  • @Thesweaterfactory Your problem with the old BOND carriage looping might be due to a bent fabric guide. Set it on a flat surface, upside down, and see if it lies flat. If not, you can tweak it a bit to make that happen. I don't know about the USM carriage. I never owned one. When I downsized about eight years ago I got rid of anything excess. Now all I have is my original blue bed and a KnitSmart carriage that was made for only a short time. You might ask in a forum. (Facebook or Ravelry)

  • Thank you for the wonderful videos Cheryl! My wife and I are watching each and every 1 as we just received our USM Deluxe. Having just received it, I'm curious as to why our machine is different than yours. We do not have the "very important" fabric guide and the carriage doesn't look like it supports 1. Our 4 plates are green instead of clear, not that color matters but hopefully it will explain why ours is different. What is the best way to make sticky needles flow smoother? Thank you!

  • @pspmichael You are most welcome. I was my pleasure to pull them out of the vault and get them up. My machine is different because it was the first model (I bought it in 1984). Your carriage is an improved version. In fact, I recently gave away my original carriage that's on the videos because it was "bumpity" compared to the newer one I have. Keyplate color, again, was just a newer design preference. As for sticky needles flowing smoother, I've heard of people using a special silicon spray.

  • @pspmichael (I ran out of letters there) . . . silicon spray, but I never have because I don't know how it might affect the yarn, and I generally don't have chemical things around. There might be a special one out there. I encourage you to join some groups for Bonds (ISM, USM) . . . there's a good one on Facebook and several on Ravelry, also a Yahoo group. Many minds there to give you suggestions. Much better than just one.
