  • did it... well it worked for 20 minutes and i got a green screen freezing again.. dont know what to do anymore ;( help

  • Just wanted to say THANK YOU again! My husband and I followed this video well over a year ago to fix his PS3, the fix worked for over a YEAR, much better then the 3 months the shop could guarantee us. He stopped using his PS3 for a bout 2 months and went to use it today, YLOD again! The dust buil;d up in it was TERRIBLE! :( But we were lucky enough to find your video again and repeated the process, works like new, AGAIN!! Thanks a Million Gilksy!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant, this is how every tutorial should be done. Now my ps3 is usable and trade-able so for the cost of some paste I'm back up and running. Thank you for taking the time to help everyone Gilksy

  • Thanks so much - it totally worked :-)

  • Yo thanks dude got my movie out! And fixed my ylod. I had rented a movie that was stuck inside. It would've cost me a bundle in late fees and repairs thanks bro!

  • hi thanks for your video gilkys has helped me a lot. But I have a problem I managed to get back to the ps3 after the YLOD encer but does not read any game and not let me play any game demonstration please help Thank you.

  • @omgkman yes there is one switch the power off from the back put your finger on the eject button (let your finger on it) then switch power on from the back there you go ;)

  • I have fixed same ps3 3 times beofre woked for about 2 weeks to a month and this time i try fix and no red light even show up when i turn it on wtf did i do wrong????

  • i didnt saw your face but i know that i fell in love with you. i fucking LOVE YOU MAN you saved me!

  • Ok I believe I succesfully reflowed everything and pieced the console back together exactly as stated. Im not getting any power to the console. Its not that I cant power it on, but I'm not even getting the red stand by light. All the cables seem to be positioned and connected correctly. Any thoughts? I searched this specific forum and found that other people are having this same problem, but cant seem to find a resolution. Thanks in advance!

  • @cmiller716 same here i need a fix.

    \

  • got everything together, and ps3 fired right up thank you so much gilksy your a life saver

  • Just got my ps3 working again. Thank you for good video! Great job!!!

  • dude you are the MAN! awesome video with clear instructions and IT WORKED!!! thanks!

  • When my ps3 was running before the YLOD, the fan was always moving at (I'd say mid speed), but now that it encountered the YLOD and was fixed using this method, the fan hardly moves at all. I did the fan test, and it seemed the same as before. It was not all that dusty when I took it apart to fix it. I used arcticsilver 5 for the thermal compound. Should I be worried of it overheating now or what?

  • My friend Gilsky my ps3 its been broken about one month and couple of day and i saw your video and i fixed it but today my ps3 is broken again. What do you recommen i do?

  • Gilksy...you are just amazing...! Thanks for the fix and reviving my PS3!!!

  • One question, when you put in your harddrive again, do you lose anything? I have a lot of things on my harddrive, and i can't stand losing all those things. Movies, music, games and saves etc.

  • @Vfkboy It is just a hard drive... its design is so that you can remove it and put it into another computer. Short of actually throwing it on the floor, exposing it to liquids or any magnets and also make sure that you ground yourself before handling the hard drive you will not loose any data. Good luck. and happy modding.

  • Dude you are a LEGEND!!!! thanks to youre vid i fixed my ps3 and saved my myself a ton of money! ROCK ON MAN

  • Worked Great. Thank you so much.

  • Gilksy you're a hero!! I had my doubts especially when the moment of truth arrived I thought that would be the only bit of your video that was wrong - but no IT WORKS AGAIN !!!!!!!!

BIG BIG THANKS. Mine was a refurbished job after my first YLOD - only 6 months and YLOD again during SW upgrade! Anyway now I'm glad I can do it myself as I'm sure this SACK OF SONY SHITE will YLOD again. SONY should be shot for such a shoddy product.

  • i had try 2nd time with this metode, but my ps3 is not getting better. what should i do?

  • don't go, my ps3 dont start now, don't power :( can you help meplease ?

  • This didnt work for me, but I will try a flux reflow tomorrow, and see if that does the trick. Great tutorials, gilksy. Very helpful.

  • Thank you very much, Gilksy! This guide worked like a charm and my PS3 is back up and running!

  • God bless you Gilksy! My 12 year old son has his ps3 back!!! AWESOME videos. Thanks so much!

  • Thanks to you Gilksy your number one and a great help in these hard times i followed step by step and it all went good my ps 3 is back to life....

  • HELP!

    Hi Gilsky.

Thanks for your great video. I followed it perfectly & the whole job went really well.....

    ......however.

When I plugged in the power.......switched it on at the rear......nothing!!!! Not even a RED light!

    Any ideas?????

I tested the out put of the psu and the 3 x 5v supplies were ok. I believe that the 2 larger 12v pins will only be energised once powered up.....but I am not even getting the chance to power up. I have heard of ribbon cable damage to the on/off eject board?

  • dude you are the best!!!!! i fixed mine after following your Videos step by step!!! there was so much dust inside. it runed on no problem and is running nice and quiet!!! thanks for your great knowledge!!!

  • First time I've ever even thought about opening the PS3 was to follow your guide. Success. I am in awe of your awesomeness. Thanks!

  • Do you have to wait for the new thermal compound to dry? I've heard 200 hours.

  • Fan-bloody-tastic!! Me too being a newbie to this I took my time and did the best job I could, Arctic Silver 5, Isopropyl and got me a nice Evolution heatgun, cracking gun for £35 peeps, Screwfix.Fix worked first time, fingers x'd for a long laster. I have a 60gb CECHCO3 so I wanted to hang onto it, and now I can. Thank you Gilksy

  • Thanks for a clear guide, was really helpful, my ps3 Is the very first original one, so was slightly different to the one you did, didn't need some of the steps as mine is obviously made slightly different, ateast it's fixed now, thanks very much! Long live my ancient ps3!

  • thanks for the video man, took mine in to get fixed and they couldn't even do it right, got my money back and decided to do it myself and it works like a charm... good video, keep up the good work!

  • Thanks man! PS3 is alive again. Long enough to transfer my saves over. And all it took was the cost of the paste.

  • i wish i found this before i turned into a byotch and fked my ps3 after death

  • Dude, you are amazing. I followed your guide and videos to the letter, and it fixed my YLOD, but in the process I broke the little plastic flap on the port for the blu-ray drive data cable. :( I managed to wedge it back in place, but it's currently held together by excessive amounts of hope. Thanks, though, man, I would've been shipping my console to the States from England for repairs if it wasn't for your videos.

  • did it work for a long time, or did you get ylod again on a short time?

  • Nice tutorial... fixed my ps3!!!

  • Okay, new dilemma...... I tried it again, thinking I did it wrong the first time. I must have, because I got it to work this time, but after like 15 minutes, the YLOD reappeared......... What gives? What could be the problem?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN! My ps3 work again !

  • I followed your videos and my ps3 lives again but the only only problem is that i can't access the internet at all. Is there anything i can do to get this working again because its pointless me having a ps3 that cant go online!! I have checked all internet details but it when i search for the access point it cant seem to find the IP address.

  • very professional videos, it works ... thank you so much pal

  • I must have done something wrong, because it didn't work for me. You got enough good comments where I trust that this works...... I don't know if you read this or not, but is it worth trying to do it again, or did I mess up somewhere enough to where it can't be fixed?

  • @LinusPhilly ... did you follow all the steps to a "T" especially the don't touch it after u heat the MB up?

  • I love you. Thank you. 2 screws left. who gives a shit. I used a silicone compound. thought it was wrong. worked fine! took me over 4 hours. being ultra careful (complete noob). got my mw3 back and she purrs like black sexy cat face

  • After following all the steps when I tried to plug it back in and power on there was no power to my ps3 at all. Not even a red standby light. What could be wrong?

  • I did everything here the PS3 is running and I even can turn it off with the controller (not on though) but it's not showing anything in the tv. have I burned or didnt connect anything?

  • @jvaferreira93 Hey it sounds like u forgot or did not put the BLUE RAY ribbon in right.

  • @luvdagras i had my bro's ps3 connected to the ps3 with a hdmi cable and when I disconnected it to try the fixed YLOD one it seems that the cable got damaged or something. When I connected my bro's ps3 and it didnt work I changed the cable and it worked.

The YLOD came back the next day.

  • Gilsky . . . Man . . . I had a fight with my son abt this YLod thing wreckin' our PS3 power on prep. I thought b-coz he mishandled one of our precious toys again. First, we thought twas b-coz of improper turn-off of the unit. When I researched the web. it lead me to you man. I will attempt to do exactly what you just showed us all . . . 6 vids. I'll give u feedback afterwards.

  • Weee! Playstation up and running again. Many thanks!

  • What the hell. I spend over a week taking it apart, getting everything I need, and I finally finish it tonight. I plug it up and everythings okay, then I hit the sensor for the power and nothing happens. So I opened it up and turned it on manually, and it is green for about a minute and im all happy, then I go to eject the disk and bam, Ylod all over again. WTF.
