Hey guys! Me and my friend did "Who's on First?" for our church (Not as good as this one, because no one can do it better!) But I would love if you guys would watch it! Its on my channel as the first video! Thanks, from a fellow Abbot and Costello fan!
If you listen to the whole radio show, you will hear a warm up to this routine. In it, they discuss a game being played by the Cleveland Indians. Costello asks if there is a "feller" [fellow] pitching, to which Abbot replies, referring to Bob Feller. It is in and of itself a great routine. The commercial for Camels cigarettes is also priceless, with the announcer stating that most doctors who smoke, smoke Camels, which is in the "T" zone, "t" for taste and throat!
This is one of the single most classic pieces of comedy history has ever produced. I personally have sit and listened to this several thousand times and still find myself laughing at it... I also share it with friends and become infected with their laughter...
@xJCooksonx, It's not that hard to figure out. "Who" happens to be the name of the 1st baseman. "What" happens to be the name of the 2nd baseman. "I don't know" happens to be the name of the 3rd baseman. "Why" is the name of the left fielder. "Because" is the center fielder. "Tomorrow" is the pitcher. "Today" is the catcher. Finally, "I don't give a darn" AKA "I don't care" is the name of the shortstop. The right fielder is never mentioned.
This is so funny. They will be popular forever. Bud was born in the 1890's and we are still talking about him like he did this yesterday. He had a great voice too, perfect for his profession. I love Abbott and Costello, Jack Benny, Jimmy Durante, Laurel and Hardy, the 3 stooges, Jackie Gleason, among many others. This was the golden age.
who's on first, what's on second, i don't know's on third, left field's why, because's center field, tomorrow's pitching, today's catching, and i dont give a darn's short stop!
abbot and costello are pure win. i loves the movies and i loves this act. me and my friend are thought of the modern day abbot and costello (me as abbot my friend as costello)
i was in a camp thing this summer n at the end of the camp, we did a show and this was one of the skits we did. it was great! there was a chick and a guy who did it... it was amazing...
This is my favorite version because (shortstop) they always play this before the JUCO (Junior College) world series games ...EVERY game! It's great-an absolute classic.
{There is nothing racist about the Abbott & Costello show. Don't, know why it's in here.} "This show came on TV, right after the Amos & Andy Show in New York City back in the '60s!!" {And New Yorkers, loved both of the shows!!}
my dad memorized with a friend and preformed it on a on a train because he went on a trip to the white for a tour of it that his school payd 4 he had a friend with so it worked out perfectly
I adore this!!! I crack up everytime I hear it! Last year, my friend and I changed it up a little bit and did it for a variety show at college. We decided we were going to do it like 3 days before the show, it was a pain to learn, but it was funny and we impressed just about everybody.
Regardless of whether Tomorrow makes the final out, Costello does say "Triple Play", then says another guy gets up. Therefore, he does give the team four outs.
Throwing it to Tomorrow makes an out, assuming he's covering first. It doesn't matter, though - Costello specifically says "triple play" then says another batter gets up. Really the only inconsistency in the entire skit.
Doesn't matter if you like it or not, you don't find clean skits for family environments like this anymore. Hats off to these 2, my dad introduced me to this when I was under 10, we both laughed together.
According to Wikipidea, this was an old routine from the days of Vaudeville at the turn of the century 1900's. Abbot and Costello discovered the material and revamped it to include the names of the popular players on the 1930's. In 1938 it was broadcasted over a one of the popular radio shows (apparently this very recording) and the rest is HISTORY! I placed the recording here in YouTube so that over 10,000 people so far could enjoy it!
whenever i hear this on my satellite radio, i [lay it back at least once to hear it again cuz it was so funny. the funny thing was when i first heard it in 2nd grade (im 20 now) we all understood it we didnt have a problem on our hands. lol

Hugh's on first.
Watt's on second.
Adan Noe's on third.
Wye is left field.
Bea Cos is center field.
Tamara's pitching to Ted Day.
Ia Dun Give Adar is shortstop.
Since right field wasn't mentioned, I'll say it's Noe Juan.
