her eyes were blue green but photographed dark. and shes very charismatic in both film and pics - hard to say which is better. i personally love to watch her pics because its only in stillness that u can really watch her up close and not "miss" anything that u would with her moving around on camera.

They were more grey, which is why they seem dark in some pics. Again, I'm sure it depended on the light. On her 1946 modeling resume--not written by her--it reads: :Eyes: blue...Bust: excellent, Teeth: perfect."

Her eyes were gray/blue but more gray. So unless she was very brightly lit in color photos her eyes registered darker. The old color process wasn't very reliable back then either. You can really see the color of her eyes in "Bus Stop"

@safarigurl150 according to various biographies and some friends her eyes were cobalt blue not grey or green, according to the coroner were definetely blue.

Maybe Jayne and Marilyn had very different personalities, but she based her career and her image on Monroe--Jayne came to fame in a play that was based on MM's struggle to be taken seriously. Jayne was mocking AND hijacking MM's image. Of course, poor Jayne would quickly turn into the joke Marilyn feared becoming. MM made movies with Gable and Olivier. Jayne? "The Loves of Hercules" with Mickey Hargitay. Jayne was lots of fun, and not untalented, but she burned herself out with crazy publcity.

Shame as I thought she and Brando were heavenly together. I know they remained close friends but WOW. Fox seemed to throw Jayne in Marilyn's face when she broke from them to start Marilyn Monroe Productions with Milton Greene . I am assuming Marilyn was not liking her too much.lol

I think this was perhaps the only time Marilyn encountered Jayne Mansfield. Jayne is clearly trying to get her attention and perhaps trying to talk to her. And Marilyn is kind of blanking her, but in her defence, at that time, Jayne was blatantly trying to steal Marilyn's public persona.

actually she portrayed rita marlowe....meaning monroe in the play that got fox interested in her. they wanted her to be bigger and better than marilyn, thus explaining the comparison....and yes jayne did steal marilyns image, she just spiced it up....she was the sex kitten, while marilyn was sexy but in a innocent kind of way.

She portrayed a character that was a parody of the bombshells, including Marilyn, but that does not mean she imitated her. Jayne also portrayed Betty Grable in The George Raft Story, did she imitate Betty too? There was nothing "kittenish" about Jayne as there was with Marilyn, she was over the top and cartoonish in her image, she had much less in common with Marilyn than MM did her predecessors, like Lana Turner and Betty Grable.

I have never 'lashed out' at anyone because they believed Jayne imitated Marilyn, but I have lashed out at a particular person who preferred name calling and immaturity to reasonable discussion. I asked you to elaborate when I questioned whether playing someone on-screen equals to stealing their image. Youtube comments often divert to subjects irrelevant to the actual video, but if you have an issue with that I recommend replying to the person who originally brought up Jayne.
