  • Thanks a lot ^^

  • Thank you for such an accurate version. I guess you should ve mentioned the capo on 2 to be able to play with track

  • @MendozaMichelle100 yeah i know, but i think it's in the annotations. the downside is that you can't read the annotations on a mobile device...

  • It was so nice of you to present this tutorial ..loving it..i am definitely gonna make a video response for your effort..thnnks a lot...rock on!!

  • @muzicmaniac2015 i'm already looking forward to your video! have a good time practising the song

  • you're are a great teacher! you're calm, understandable, clear illustrations of the chords. Thank you!!!

  • @sanpedroice you are welcome! thank you for your kind words..!

  • I can play it after 1month :D

  • Thank you so much! I love you -3

  • @TheIntergalacticNerd aah , that nice of you to say so... you're more than welcome!

  • @PuNnIsShEr92 mate. i just picked up my guitar for the first time in my life and learnt this. Think you'll find you're wrong with that and also maybe that you're not very good at playing guitar :L

  • thanks man, helped allot .

  • About 8hours ago i bought a guitar, i watched this tutorial for 7hours and all i got is a big headache i think im gonna return the guitar, i think im not made for this, my finger are messed up.

  • @PuNnIsShEr92 eeehhh, it's not strange that you can't play this after 7hrs if this is the very first thing you play. start with something easy, a few chords, a melody. get used to the instrument and don't set your goals too high in the beginning, that only leads to frustration. Find a teacher in your neighbourhood, or a friend who plays, do it a step at a time and you'll get there. music is also about the fun in learning it! merry christmas!

  • @PuNnIsShEr92 buddy no one in this world can play this song without taking any guitar lesson

take my frendly advice and consult some teacher and take lessons or learn it from youtube easy chords and stuff within one month u can play many songs trust me :) happy new year

  • @PuNnIsShEr92 of course you cant play this after 7 hours, i cant play it after 2 years!

  • Very nice tutorial...clear and concise.

Especially pleased that you didn't do this with a capo on, otherwise I couldn't have played along.

For those who want to be all anal about it and say that it should be played with a capo on the second fret, I would like to point out that Ms Chapman only does that so it's in a key she's comfortable singing in. Her voice is quite deep on this song and she probably couldn't sing along at all without the whole-tone step up that the capo gives.

  • mine doesnt sound the same what should i do you recommend?

  • HAHA looks like you have a tiny guitar :D thanks for the lesson

  • Very nice job! You're a great teacher, thanks for the upload!

  • yaayyyy thank you so much!

  • what is the song being played in the beginning and do u have a tutorial for it?

  • @nishane1992 the song in the beginning is something that I wrote just for the intro movie of my acoustic tutorials. At the moment I'm trying to make it into a proper song. If more people are really interested in it I'll make a tutorial for it, the song itself is really easy...

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop I would love to learn the song in the beginning, it sounds REAL great!

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop Please make one.. i love your tutorials x and the song is amazing

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop you should pleaseeeeeeee :)

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop please make a tutorial for that song!

  • capo on second or....

  • @timm3ad yeah, I forgot to mention it in the lesson so put it in the annotations, however I found out that some mobile devices don't show annotations... But if you want to play along with it (cd) then you will need capo in second position

  • Nice tutorial but would be much nicer you played whole parts together at the end, like after you've explained the chorus, actually play it through at the right speed. Also just mentioning whats lyrics are around each chord change is always nice.

  • @iEditStuf thanks for the advice, I will try to implement those things in future tutorials. don't know If i can do the lyric thing but will at least play whole parts together. Making these tutorials is not that easy to me, I always seem to forgot one thing or another... but... I'm still trying to improve them...

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop

Yeh the lyrics thing isn't a must its just nice to have or to sing it as you play it, all though I appreciate not all guitar players can sing, I know I can't lol. But I think playing whole parts together at the correct speed is something that is very helpful for getting the feeling of the song right.

  • The best tutorial I have seen. Very slow learner here, so the extensive, informative tutorial really did help me. Thanks again!

  • Got so fustrated i smashed my guitar on my girlfriend's head!

  • GOOD TEACHER !

  • Thanks everyone for your nice comments! Amazing to see that a simple tutorial creates so many happy faces... :-)

  • THANKYOU :D

  • Thank you veeery much!! This is what I call a professional tutorial!=)

  • I love this song, & thanks to this tutorial, I can now play it, so thank you :) It was just the right pace

  • Thank you so much! Great explanation.

  • i love this song, but you overexplained it...

  • @bemtikru for you i probably did, but i don't have the time to make a video that suits all. you can always skip the bits of information that you don't like or find another tutorial that is more to your liking. there are many good ones on this song on youtube. I believe justinguitar has made a good one too...

still I hoped the tutorial helped out a little bit...

  • i've been wanting to learn this! thanks! :)

  • 3, 4

  • That was great - the best and clearest explanation of this song. Many thanks.

  • You rock!:)

  • Great Lesson, but isn't is supposed to play with a capo on 5th Fret?

  • @Reamblished

Nevermind found out the trick... this is my first song with possile capo

  • this is wrong it's played with a capo

  • Isnt it play with a capo on the 2nd fret? (on the recording)

  • ocelote watching this atm, trollsz

  • what i do instead of getting the sort of dumb sound on intro, instead of the full finger pick technique on the open 2 strings, just pluck the b and you get a much smoother tune.

  • thanks. i cant play guitar that well but this is a great help. can you do ukelelea tutorials??

  • Lesson rocked, i can play it now, thnx

  • thumbs up for Canucks hoodie

  • How's it feel watching your team lose at home in game 7 of the Stanley Cup? Go Bruins!!!!! oh thanks for the tutorial though

  • Best tut for fast cars on utube so fare grate stuff

  • great tutorial thanks man

  • go canucks go!! LOL(:

  • thanks helped me

  • go Vancouver

  • whats the song that introduces the tutorial?

  • oh btw. ace tutorial (Y)

  • @chriskpdoherty thanks!

  • @chriskpdoherty its an intro I wrote for the "acoustic sessions", but since more people have asked about it, maybe I'll turn it into a song, who knows ;-)

  • thank you, you're a great teacher, and this is a beautiful song:)

  • thumbs up if u was brought here by michael collings :P !

  • @Supersean619 lol, the guy from britains got talent right?! I must say, I you look at the statistics, most people who watch this tutorial are from the UK ;-)

  • @Supersean619 in a way i am :))

  • no affence, nice tutorial, but i you've got some of the riff wrong, sounds better if you add a pluck on the B string after you play the chord on the 7th fret before moving down to the chord in the 5th fret :)

  • @TheAmySanders none taken! but I do disagree with you on that extra pluck. In the original it's played for the first time (that additional pluck) at 0:20 --> youtube.com/watch?v=O6475u0wEG0 there you can clearly here the extra pluck, before not so much.

It's just a variation, you can play it or leave it out, but to say it's wrong without it... i dont know...

off-course, you should always play it the way you think it sounds best. its a nice song in any case...

  • OMG!

this is the best tutorial youtube for this song without a capo!

    thanks man

    really appreciate it! :)

  • super duper tutorial !

so incredibly helpful, thank you !!!

  • @MjLivesEveryMoment can't remember when I heard "super duper" for the last time ;-)

    but you're more than welcome

  • Cheers for sharing

  • This is great, thank you so much!

  • Great tutorial!! :D

  • Theres a reason why there are no dislikes :)

  • @iamagod10 don't jinx it! ;-)

  • nice tutorial but i thought if your fingerpicking your not really supposed to use ur little finger unless u have to ???

  • @guitartutorials482 just to be sure, when I'm talking about pinky, I mean of my left hand, not the "rhythm hand"... As far as I know, only flamenco guitarists use pinky (in their rasgueados) and several autodidact guitarists like Pierre Bensusan(fantastic player!)

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop fair enough my bad =) nice tutorial anyways

  • Brilliant song, brilliant tutorial. Will try it with a capo though (to justify the cost of buying one that's hardly used) so thanks for that bit of info and thanks for the video.

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome tutorial, was struggling on the chorus for a long time until i found this :) Thanks and subbed :D

  • One of the best guitar tutorials I've seen, you've made it too easy. :)

  • @h3arty thanks! that's a nice thing to say... this is one of my earlier tutorials, in the intro I look so serious, trying to improve on that part ;-)

  • @Tnemic yeah it does, in 2nd pos i believe, its in the annotations but i think mobile devices dont display them...

  • doesn't it have a capo?

  • @Tnemic It also sounds nice on the 4th :)

  • @JMRK96 its just a quick intro that iwrote for the"acoustic sessions" video's

  • whats that tune right at the beginning of this vidd ?

  • More clearing About what exactly? The tab is in the video, i do it step by step. Maybe you need to check some other videos on youtube that do this song, there are many good ones i am sure... Good luck!

  • It is really cool to see that so many of you have benefited from this lesson, thanks to al of you for your nice comments... It takes a few seconds for you to write me a line of appreciation but the positivity lasts for a long time!

    André

  • great tutorial man, keep it up!

  • Think it's very well explained....will be trying it tonight but can understand from the lesson what you have to do...top notch!

  • Thanks! Gr8 lesson!

  • Excellent help!! Thanks a lot buds

  • i feel that you dont explain it well

  • @kiwi66665 that could be, but if you're not really specific about what exactly i don't explain well i cant really assist you in this so what is it that you dont understand...?

  • @kiwi66665 he is playing it fine your being a bit slow

  • great lesson :)

  • thank you so much for this, it has helped me learn it and now i can play it full speed! thanks so much!!

  • @thegabsek it would be nice if you could record it and post it as a video reaction, I'm curious to see the results... Actually that goes for all of you!

anyways, thanks and you're welcome ;-)

  • Nice job! I can actually play this song, or at least my wife's ears don't hurt any more. Excellent work on the tabs following the music, and the chord charts that follow. All lessons should be this clear! My only suggestion would be to use a capo like Tracy does. Then, it will be SPOT ON! Thanks again for a great lesson!

  • @chordsnstrums Thanks a lot... Actually about the capo thing,... how could I be that stupid to forget something like that! I always try to check things like that before I start a tutorial, thanks for pointing it out to me, I'll create an annotation mentioning the capo...

hows your wife's singing? You could do a duet together :-) Or would that hurt your ears ;-)

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop Been practicing the song for two days, and I almost actually sound like a guitar player. Thanks again. I'll be watching your videos. Thanks for helping spread the love of music and helping people pick up the guitar.

  • @chordsnstrums thanks, that's a really nice thing to say!

  • GO CANUCKS GO

  • @muncher87 :-) yeah baby yeah!

  • can i have the tabs please?

  • @mangal1994 there are some decent tabs on this song @ ultimate-guitar(dot)com , The tabs in this tutorial are edited versions on the tabs you find in UG.com

  • you really helped me learn this song!! thank you!

  • Very good - thanks so much.

  • thanks for this man, nice song. got me reading tabs for once lol! ...cheers.

  • very good i wish there were tutorials for every song. you're amazing man thnx

  • @junkevin in 10 years from now, that could well be the case! more and more teachers are starting to make tutorials for songs, it's just a matter of time. just like tab, now you can find just about everything on the net...

oh and thanks for the compliment! :-)

  • whats the song in the intro?

  • @ColinZ55 That's just a quick intro I made for the tutorial, has a nice happy and mellow mood to it, good for the acoustic session video's

  • amazing song amazing tutorial

  • @eg0 thanks for the eg0-boost ;-)

  • Now I need a tutorial to sing like tracy chapman! hahaha ;)

  • @arkanizcr don't expect that coming from this channel ;-) my singing is terrible at best....

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop hehe ok , just kidding! ;)

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop isn´t problem, my english sucks but i understand you, thanks

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! You are a great teacher, very clear and effective, thank you thank you!

  • @dzeniixo you're welcome! there is another tracy chapman song i'm working on. Kind of forgot about it for a few weeks but recent posts make me think to pick it up again...

  • @YourGuitarWorkshop do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude! i have been searching for tabs everywhere and everyone elses video is useless because they didn't show strumming. you saved me lol thanks a lot.

  • @nothingbutnet313 thanks, it's always nice to read that the lesson is appreciated ;-)

I guess explaining these songs in detail takes more time and there fore much more time in editing which might be why some do not do that. But there are some very good teachers active at youtube and I'm happy to contribute my part.

Keep playing, this song by Tracy is one of my favourite songs!

  • i cannot tell you how much this helped me thank you :D

  • @kungfudude2345 that's ok, take your time ;-)

Glad the video helped you out, it's a very nice song!
