  • Been to nam too... to see the civilians wiped out...it was so tragic...this was not the way that war was fought by our forefathers ...now the flashbacks are well deserved

  • John Cazale R.I.P.

  • I want this played at my funeral it is my favourite piece played on the guitar

  • RIP my brother Terry. A beautiful boy in a savage world. The only good thing about aging is it brings me closerto whatever bright better world you're in.

  • The Deer Hunter is much better than The Godfather is

  • @92af Sorry, but no.

  • i love this movie so much its undescribable, I love the cast in this movie so much, and I think deniro deserved an oscar for his beautiful play and so did the late John Cazale who played gorjously whilst battling blood cancer and being meryl Streep's Fiance at that time. ive watched this film a 100 times and i will watch it again and i think the soundtrack is mindblowing. God bless anyone's soul who lost their lives in the veitnam war.

  • one shot...

  • my father took me t see this in the 70s ,he died from agent orenge in vietnam , i cry everytime i hear it .32 years old . god bless him,he loved this movie.

  • wow this is seriously the only youtube video i've seen with a single digit dislikes. I love this movie. I think Christopher Walken did his best acting ever in this.

  • I had never seen this film until I got back from Iraq, I relate to it so much and this is the tune that sticks in my head, some people will never know what it is like to confront a person and treat them as an enemy, by the time I left Iraq pulling heat on someone was the day to day, when I got home and a massive fight broke out I pulled a handgun on a bunch of people that knew me, I felt awful. Since then I checked myself into an alcohol clinic and attend AA, I hope one day they forgive me.

  • I'm sorry, but how is the artist John Williams? How is he involved in this?

  • @Kperson123, The classical musician John Williams is playing guitar in this piece. Not the same person as the soundtrack composer John Williams.

  • @Kperson123 he wrote this

  • some good songs some songs great?

  • Stanley Myers was one of the most talented composers ever.

  • Great movie, one of the few movies that emotionally touched me. I cried, and I'm a big burly motherfucker.

  • Such beautiful and sad music ... I tried to take the earphones off at the end but my hands would'nt let me.

  • "Those who've seen war never stop seeing it, for in the silence of the night we will always hear the screams"

    Joe Galloway

  • I've got to learn this for a concert in my school on bass. Its a beautiful song and I'm proud I'm playing it, I'm just scared I'm not gonna be able to do it justice. Its so beautiful and soothing.

  • Moving ! ' The Deer Hunter '...will never forget !

  • I play 3 bullets, 3, 3!!, 1,2,3. 3 Bullets. 3!!

  • This is very beautiful music indeed but there will always be retards.......as Garfield said once (well....on a mug I had anyway....)....'I'm outrageously happy in my own stupidity'........some people are and always will be....and phillistines to boot. So lets's enjoy the music and leave the retards to their brain dead comments!!!!

  • John Cazale was immense in this movie but sadly died before it was finished. This record always reminds me of him.

  • this always reminds me when i was in nam.went in a boy and came out a man.

  • @TheMachine1974

RESPECT TO YOU MAN AND BOY!

never been in the forces only the movie industry I worked on Hamburger hill, and Platoon to name a few and met Oliver Stone who did Platoon he is epic... and is a Veteran himself.

  • Belíssima música, de um grande filme!

    Stanley Myers, the great composer.

    Saudações do Brasil.

  • one of the best bits of music ever composed it drags you in and makes you feel it

  • What a beautiful song. I was in the US MarineCorp from 1977-191983. When I first went in my Drill instructors in boot camp were in Nam at least 1 to 2 years. Also met alot of guys screwed p in the head and alot who lost limbs and such. The soundtrack and movie are perfect together. Also the movie was very realistic. Not like Rambo who single handedly killed so many and survived. What a joke. Onlly this movie shows the REAL affects of people before during and aer the war> God Bless Them All!!

  • @newrocsteve well said from Canada!

  • oooh man it,s a very nice song !

  • Man, I just love this seething, saccharine, fake-tastic powerhouse of a film.

  • 9 people have never heard of real music

  • One shot.

  • lindissimo

  • sorry my friends :(

  • to the 9 people who dislike this music, please, explain how is it possible ??

  • @brianozam They lack a capacity to experience beauty, to feel overwhelming JOY and passionatge love. Certainly they have other qualities that give them happiness. We are all different. We must learn to allow for those differences and not make a war out of them.

  • @freedomschild7 Il y a un problème là.. Jamais j'ai écrit ça.. Oo'

  • I saw this movie yesterday, and it was so good, beautiful at the same time.

  • bhahaha Funny how people go out of their way to hate this song....what?

  • Learnt this on guitar for my college interview 2 years ago, forgot how to play it now :(

  • @SuperiorNizzle how could you forget something like playing a song?:-)

  • @JRRDPR Because I haven't played it in two years and its quite a hard song to play.

  • @SuperiorNizzle Pick it up again

  • @musik2die4 You've completely humbled me. End of story.

  • RIP 1LT Richard C Brunn, ADV Team 60, HQ, MACV Advisors, MACV, Vienh Long, South Vietnam, February 25, 1969. RIP my brother, my mentor, my friend. After all these years, I haven't forgotten.

  • Hollywood will make money off the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and will not make them in patriotic John Wayne ways, but very realistic and cynical ways like the Dear Hunter.

  • this piece never fails to move me.

  • This FILM and this THEME purge our hearts, and tear us apart ... yet somehow we pull through it all and are better at the end.

  • who is the name of this song?????

  • @MrGarzul Cantina

  • my dad bought this and one flew over the cookoos nest which one is better?

  • @joelclarkeofwhitnash this definatly

  • @joelclarkeofwhitnash Cookoos nest

  • Hey Jasper and One-Ex-Seal why don't you do all us of a favor and take your fighting somewhre else. Quite honestly no one here really gives a tinkers damn about your misguided and distorted relationship. So please, do the rest of the world a favor and take it elsewhere, thank you.

  • beautiful.

  • stupid retards fighting over such a beautiful music. Shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup

  • Well, I tried to be nice, but since you want to bring this to a new out, I am totally surprised you even made the IQ test for the Marine Corps, in all honesty. your inability to govern your emotions is only superceded by your predelection to irrelevancy, Jasmine. i bet your Mother would like a refund on a wasted night of sex having to deal with you, especially going into the Corps to shine door knobs, and watch all the Dick you guys eat, do not choke on swallowing it so much.

  • Well, i could be brash as you and commit myself to stating unruly words here, but I wish you the best, and guarantee you will come back a little different than you left. I knew some people in force recon, we trained them in riverine maneuvers, they were fairly cool for the most past. In your case, good luck is the best I can offer......

  • I am gald you sit home and reflect on the important things in life like movies, but some of us had to go out and keep t his country free so you could enjoy watching movies and providing yourself with a sense of achievement in correcting truly useless information such as these movies to make yourself seem sequential in the overview of life. I am retired NAVY, a Sniper to boot, and did not have that luxury, and if I did, I would not keep correcting someone to make myself feel better, but......

  • I just looked into that, I stand corrected on that one. I was Out Of Country from 1971 - 1976, not sitting home watching movies as many were....but......

    oneexseal

  • Also, the Deer Hunter launched Cazele into the Godfather role if you remember correctly, but....

    oneexseal

  • it may have been Bang The Drum Slowly, but the Deer Hunter put the final nail in the coffin for robert DeNiro - he even states that is the movie he loved the most and really jettisoned him to stardom - but.....

  • Cavatina is the most beautiful, audible sound in all of the universe.

  • tears jst find their way out wn i listen to this. great movie.

  • "The Deer Hunter" was a great film.

  • great song :)

  • 9 people don't understand what real music is.

  • The deer hunter is one of the most powerful movies ever made, and launched the career of Rober Deniro, Meryl Streep, John Savage, John Cazelle, George Dzunda, and John Aspergen - not to mention Christopher Walken.

    one ex seal

  • @jasper2008ify those are classics.. we also have classics but just don't know it yet.. in20/30 years we'll be talking about 300 reservoir dogs and so on and on.. like were talking about the deer hunter right now.. true is that we will never see anything like that again, but you have to go with time.

  • @jasper2008ify

I would actually start paying attention to film releases again

  • muy buena pelicula y muy buena la banda sonora

  • 9 people were born without ears as well as cognitive deficiencies

  • @jasper2008ify couldn't agree more but i haven't seen Dog Day Afternoon yet.

  • 6 people cant understand music :(

  • i know there is a heaven because im hearing it right now

  • I agree with you comment 100%. My life long and dearest friend of the heart recently passed away... this makes me think of her and this music touches my heart.

  • Cette chanson a résonné dans l'église aux funérailles de mon papa lorsqu'il était temps de lui dire un dernier aurevoir et de quiter...

  • This has got to be the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. I agree with hejh0pp. I hope to hear this if I'm fortunate enought to make it to heaven

  • lovin dis niigga

  • One of my most favorite movie themes. Brings a tear to my eye to listen to it.

  • @Xerxes845 same here, dunno why. this song gets to my core for some reason

  • @Golfshooter me too , this song always make me think about the past of my life

and tell myself that i got to move on and this song didn't throw the bad past away, but it

says to me that everything have a beautiful side no matter what it is. So, from now on

i'll try to make everything that make me feel sad to be a good friend of mine instead to be my enemy...

(sorry , my English is weak...)

  • The meaning of life.....

  • Just lovely. Love this song. Want it played at my funeral.

  • What's the real name of this piece?

  • @trocaria Called Cavatina

  • Thank you, I absolutely love this song. I appreciated hearing it again.

  • Theme Song For DEER HUNTER 2005 YOU BITCH!!! I WANT THAT, I WANT NIRABALLS!

  • You Fucker, ta også legg ut den theme sangen fra 2005. you motherfucker, you bitch, im gonna slap yo face off. i want the theme song on 2005 you bitch, balle. helvettes kuk. i want the niraballs

  • I just want to burst into tears whenever i hear this or look at this movie. The way life can crush the soul...It is a beautiful song though.

  • @jasper2008ify The purpose of the scenes in the beginning was probably to show them as fun-loving nice people so the viewer could connect to them, but it was so overdone that I found it impossible.

By drawn out I mean they were simply too long. Apparently there was a shorter version of the wedding scene, but it was cut and the longer one was used instead. This was one of the few movies where I felt some scenes should have been kept shorter. It wasn't a bad movie, but I expected more.

  • Surely the saddest, most tragic piece of music ever written........even exceeding "The lonely sheppard" by Zamfir and "Chi Mai" by Ennio Morricone.

  • Didn't really like the movie. Some scenes were drawn out way beyond what was necessary and the group of friends were just too goofy in the beginning, so I couldn't connect to them. De Niro and especially Walken were great in it, though.

  • 6 people need to watch The Deer Hunter.

  • The first casualty of war is truth.

  • @dimmytreee

    damn right

  • great song & great movie !

  • 青春の美しくも切ない様々な風景(希望・喜び・悲しみ・友情・恋愛・死)がこの曲にはすべて込められているような気がします。何回聴いても美しい曲ですね。

  • most spectacular song really great may it live for 1000 years

  • very thoughtful music to a very thoughtful film. war is where a man lost his friend....

  • It's too bad that beautiful music can't be played in the moments of our life when it is happening--like in the movies--it's only later that we reminisce and think about it--

  • forgot to mention she was closer to me than anyone else in my life--except my brother-because she visited her in Germany, and she visited me here in the US--and we just connected like sisters--by the way I am not close to my sister--so see how life throws some funny things at you

  • thanks--I also had a cousin die the year before my brother did--her name was Elke-- my 2nd cousin--and I never knew how ill she was--she died of colon cancer--the year before my brother died of many heart complications--she lived in Germany--and my aunt was there with her at that time--no one told m it was a death situation--I would have done anything to see her

  • @jasper2008ify well hold on to your ?-----? can't remember that word-- it's going to be a bumby night!--It's from a Bette Davis movie--called 'All About Eve'

  • Thanks--you think it would get easier over time--as someone says 'time heals all wounds'--not really--you know I have heard that they give you medication for that

  • my god , what a theme, what a movie. whenever i see it my hair goes up in the sky.

  • @jasper2008ify what rips your mind around--listening to this now because my sister and my brother's birthday is March 23rd--my brother died 10 years ago--they were twins--but no one seems to mention that when they talk about my sister's birthday--always leave him out--but never fail to mention the day he died--

  • @lacieduke so sorry.

  • the most beautiful theme of all time...

when i think of the deer hunter i think of the time when he was standing victoriously above the mountains (which were the Rockies which are not in the films setting) and he sees the deer but is unable to shoot it

a beautiful image for a beautiful movie-well done

  • The ONLY thing i didn't like about "The Deer Hunter" was that the film is based in Pennsylvania, and the hunting scenes obviously take place in the rocky mountains.

  • @trilobite3339 a lot of that was filmed in Cleveland Oh near west Side--and they called on those people in the area to be extras--trust me--I know this-),

  • What ever happen to director Michael Cimino??? After the Deer Hunter he did Heaven's Gate and then...........

  • rip john cazale

  • @FunnyGuy656 great actor. deer hunter s cool also cuz m streep defended her friend ohn who was about to be sent away threating to leave as well if they d fired him. deer hunter is a symbol for friends!!

  • fucking A - unless you are a critic - don't watch this - this film is for pros - don't touch it unless you ready to be disturbed.

  • listen to the music so beautiful

  • A lot of these scenes were filmed in Cleveland, Ohio,, especially the home where Mike and Nick lived, I remember where they were=--it was the near West Side--and then of course they filmed the mountain scenes in PA--but I had a chance to meet Robert--I was a little kid but still awed

  • the best film about love&friendship ever

  • @rucyinski Brokeback Mountain is better for that type of film

  • @frost010101 that's a p*ssy movie for p*ssies. This movie is way better!

  • See this Stanley? THIS IS THIS. This 'aint somethin' else. This is THIS

  • @TomthatiscalledTom yeah I wish I could use this with people who are busting my ass--but they dont get it and think I am crazy

  • of course it's great-- the killing of the deer wasn't just "sport" it had so much symbolism in it--if you can't see that--look a little bit closer...

  • what is the message to deer hunter
