wow this is seriously the only youtube video i've seen with a single digit dislikes. I love this movie. I think Christopher Walken did his best acting ever in this.
I had never seen this film until I got back from Iraq, I relate to it so much and this is the tune that sticks in my head, some people will never know what it is like to confront a person and treat them as an enemy, by the time I left Iraq pulling heat on someone was the day to day, when I got home and a massive fight broke out I pulled a handgun on a bunch of people that knew me, I felt awful. Since then I checked myself into an alcohol clinic and attend AA, I hope one day they forgive me.
I've got to learn this for a concert in my school on bass. Its a beautiful song and I'm proud I'm playing it, I'm just scared I'm not gonna be able to do it justice. Its so beautiful and soothing.

What a beautiful song. I was in the US MarineCorp from 1977-191983. When I first went in my Drill instructors in boot camp were in Nam at least 1 to 2 years. Also met alot of guys screwed p in the head and alot who lost limbs and such. The soundtrack and movie are perfect together. Also the movie was very realistic. Not like Rambo who single handedly killed so many and survived. What a joke. Onlly this movie shows the REAL affects of people before during and aer the war> God Bless Them All!!

This has got to be the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. I agree with hejh0pp. I hope to hear this if I'm fortunate enought to make it to heaven
You Fucker, ta også legg ut den theme sangen fra 2005. you motherfucker, you bitch, im gonna slap yo face off. i want the theme song on 2005 you bitch, balle. helvettes kuk. i want the niraballs
@jasper2008ify The purpose of the scenes in the beginning was probably to show them as fun-loving nice people so the viewer could connect to them, but it was so overdone that I found it impossible.
By drawn out I mean they were simply too long. Apparently there was a shorter version of the wedding scene, but it was cut and the longer one was used instead. This was one of the few movies where I felt some scenes should have been kept shorter. It wasn't a bad movie, but I expected more.
Didn't really like the movie. Some scenes were drawn out way beyond what was necessary and the group of friends were just too goofy in the beginning, so I couldn't connect to them. De Niro and especially Walken were great in it, though.
It's too bad that beautiful music can't be played in the moments of our life when it is happening--like in the movies--it's only later that we reminisce and think about it--
forgot to mention she was closer to me than anyone else in my life--except my brother-because she visited her in Germany, and she visited me here in the US--and we just connected like sisters--by the way I am not close to my sister--so see how life throws some funny things at you
thanks--I also had a cousin die the year before my brother did--her name was Elke-- my 2nd cousin--and I never knew how ill she was--she died of colon cancer--the year before my brother died of many heart complications--she lived in Germany--and my aunt was there with her at that time--no one told m it was a death situation--I would have done anything to see her
@jasper2008ify well hold on to your ?-----? can't remember that word-- it's going to be a bumby night!--It's from a Bette Davis movie--called 'All About Eve'
Thanks--you think it would get easier over time--as someone says 'time heals all wounds'--not really--you know I have heard that they give you medication for that
@jasper2008ify what rips your mind around--listening to this now because my sister and my brother's birthday is March 23rd--my brother died 10 years ago--they were twins--but no one seems to mention that when they talk about my sister's birthday--always leave him out--but never fail to mention the day he died--
when i think of the deer hunter i think of the time when he was standing victoriously above the mountains (which were the Rockies which are not in the films setting) and he sees the deer but is unable to shoot it
The ONLY thing i didn't like about "The Deer Hunter" was that the film is based in Pennsylvania, and the hunting scenes obviously take place in the rocky mountains.
@trilobite3339 a lot of that was filmed in Cleveland Oh near west Side--and they called on those people in the area to be extras--trust me--I know this-),
@FunnyGuy656 great actor. deer hunter s cool also cuz m streep defended her friend ohn who was about to be sent away threating to leave as well if they d fired him. deer hunter is a symbol for friends!!
A lot of these scenes were filmed in Cleveland, Ohio,, especially the home where Mike and Nick lived, I remember where they were=--it was the near West Side--and then of course they filmed the mountain scenes in PA--but I had a chance to meet Robert--I was a little kid but still awed
Been to nam too... to see the civilians wiped out...it was so tragic...this was not the way that war was fought by our forefathers ...now the flashbacks are well deserved

very thoughtful music to a very thoughtful film. war is where a man lost his friend....

@jasper2008ify well hold on to your ?-----? can't remember that word-- it's going to be a bumby night!--It's from a Bette Davis movie--called 'All About Eve'
lacieduke 10 months ago
Thanks--you think it would get easier over time--as someone says 'time heals all wounds'--not really--you know I have heard that they give you medication for that

my god , what a theme, what a movie. whenever i see it my hair goes up in the sky.

@jasper2008ify what rips your mind around--listening to this now because my sister and my brother's birthday is March 23rd--my brother died 10 years ago--they were twins--but no one seems to mention that when they talk about my sister's birthday--always leave him out--but never fail to mention the day he died--

the most beautiful theme of all time...
when i think of the deer hunter i think of the time when he was standing victoriously above the mountains (which were the Rockies which are not in the films setting) and he sees the deer but is unable to shoot it
a beautiful image for a beautiful movie-well done
frozenbloodbullets 10 months ago
The ONLY thing i didn't like about "The Deer Hunter" was that the film is based in Pennsylvania, and the hunting scenes obviously take place in the rocky mountains.
trilobite3339 10 months ago
@trilobite3339 a lot of that was filmed in Cleveland Oh near west Side--and they called on those people in the area to be extras--trust me--I know this-),

A lot of these scenes were filmed in Cleveland, Ohio,, especially the home where Mike and Nick lived, I remember where they were=--it was the near West Side--and then of course they filmed the mountain scenes in PA--but I had a chance to meet Robert--I was a little kid but still awed

of course it's great-- the killing of the deer wasn't just "sport" it had so much symbolism in it--if you can't see that--look a little bit closer...
