I cried so hard and unashamedly when I saw this part, and when the second star appeared I cried even harder. I was all " *sobsobsobsob& AHHH RAY GO TO *sniff* BE WITH EVANGILINE! *Sobsob* IT"S SO BEAUTIFUL! WALTDISNEYWOULDBESOPROUD"
Disney, PLEASE do not make a crappy sequel to this, PLEASE! Sequels to classic films - particularly Disney films - never work out (Think Mulan II, Aladdin: The Return of Jafar, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, and Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. Yikes!)
Wahhhhh ;_;...The Second Star to right DX OMG I listened to the song while watching this I was bawling and talking to my boyfriend. He didn't know why I was crying, but he just said it'd be okay and hugged me. Why can't love be as strong as that? Willing to love what others don't see exist...that's...that's TRUE LOVE WAHHHHHH! TT_TT!!!! Ray we love you so much! You got to be right next to your true love forever ;-;..
It is sad that Ray died, but I don't think he would have meant as much to the fans if he survived. True they won, but there needed to be a cost and unfortunately it was Ray. He's my favorite because he wasn't going to go down without a fight.
I could be sad but I'm at least heart-warmed by my bittersweet interpretation:
Note that Ray's last sight of the living world was up to his star. In death, Ray is (re)united with Angeline. He died happy with a smile. (0:50) He knew he would be with her, his love, once again. Now they exist as stars to shining down on everyone, giving hope and inspiration.
This is so cute - but gotta say.... Evangeline is the second star to the right. Ray appears on the LEFT. I'm bawling here, but yeah.... Ray is on the Left....
scuse me while I bawl over the cuteness some more.
i remember watching this movie for the first time at the cinema being like "OH MY GOD!!! RAY'S THE SECOND STAR TO THE RIGHT FROM PETER PAN!!! RAY IS NEVERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!"
I'm not crying I'm sweating through my eyes.... I can honestly say I haven't seen this one yet but I looked it up and have seen a few scenes with Ray and I can't explain it I have become very attached to him so yeah i'm crying ridiculously and unexplainably
I just watched this movie for the first time today. When they had the funeral for Ray, I thought that voodoo lady would be at the end and bring him back to life because it's a Disney movie. But nope, it was even better. He ended up with his love, Evangeline :) I cried like a baby at this scene not because it's sad, but because I was happy for him.
This is probably one of the best Disney films ever ^_^
man i thought this movie was gonna be girly but i watched it when i was bored and it was one of the best disney films i seen it reminded me of the old disney and when i saw Ray becomeing a star i realized his wish as well as the others also came true even in death...i almost cried when i saw that that was one of the most beautiful moments in this movie that i saw thumbs up if u agree
My fiance and I were watching this just assuming Ray was going to end up being ok...I mean...it's Disney. Then the second star appears and she started absolutely bawling. Took a lot of effort on my part not to join her. Shocking and beautiful.
When ray floats into the darkness, i had to bite my lip to prevent crying... when the clouds parted to show that ray was finally with evangeline, i can't help but tear with sadness and happiness at ray's seemingly naive belief coming true RIP ray you're 1 awesome dude
When I would read comments on how this movie isn't the next Disney classic, all I have to do is remeber scenes like this. I mean come on! Ray had the deepest love of any disney couple ever. He knew down to his soul that Evagiline was his tru love despite everyone telling him that she was only a star. His love was so deep that it transended death itself so that he can be with his love forever. How does that not match up with the Disney greats?! I can not get over how much I love this movie! XD
@basktbalG ... Agreed, Ray is so full of life and pure of heart. He is a true romantic (even in the face of cyncism) and anyone with that capacity to love is really something special. He is one of my all-time favorite Disney characters ... I love the angel Al from Angels in the Outfield too :-)
There was not a dry eye in the theatre when this scene was shown. It was sad. Even for me as a 26 year old, my godfather passed away the year this film came out and Ray reminded me of my godfather. A good hearted man with a childlike spirit. R.I.P. Tio.
Oh man, the first time I saw this, I got so choked up when Ray died, but I really lost it when that star appeared in the sky. Such a beautiful way to end the life of this great character. He got to be with Evangeline after all! :')
Disney as a way to make us cry don't they. I cried when Mufasa died in lion king although I was eight years old at time. I got teary during Ray's funeral.
I bawled my eyes out at this part when I saw this in theaters. Why does someone always have to die in Disney movies? D: The only time I smiled was when the friend I was with wailed "WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE KILLED HIM WHEN HE WAS STEELE IN BALTO?!" (Because Jim Cummings, the voice actor for Ray, was also the voice actor for Steele in the movie Balto.) A few people were able to laugh at that.
i know i may be corny but im not even kidding, i cry every time that star shows up in the sky.... it gives me a joyful feeling and its just to heartwarming :)
Evangeline is also the name of a woman in Louisiana who waited for her love to return to her by an oak tree near the bayou but he never did and she died there waiting for him. I think that's right.
:'( its ok though, mama odie will bring him back, no she will, she wont! hes dead?! really!? WHAT THE HELL DISNEY! *bawls worse than when mufasa died in the lion king!*
I actually thought Ray's death was more unnecessary than it was tragic. Unlike Bambi, Old Yeller, or Lion King, I didn't feel like Ray's death played a huge impact on the movie. He didn't know Tiana or Naveen very long; he was only around through the 2nd half of the movie; it didn't impact Tiana or Naveen's goals or Facilier's tactics; nothing changed except he's now with Evangeline. What was the point?! Just because it's a Disney movie doesn't mean you HAVE to kill off a main character.
I think the point was how he had faith - faith in Naveen, so he believed when Tiana had doubt, faith in his love for Evangeline (when everyone else was thing "did he smoke something?" ) and his "resurrection" to being with her forever was proof of that faith. And i think him stealing the hyako (sorry if the spelling is wrong) from Facilier and giving it to Tiana was pretty major . Further, he was easily as likeable (if not moreso) than the other characters, I was sorry he died
@365ral I have to say that with this death, it is somewhat realistic. He's a bug fighting a human. I think the odds are against him, he was gonna get squished very easily.
@RoronoaZorolover Yeah, that is true, Ray would've easily gotten squished anyway, but the way they presented it, the way the Dr. F was verrry slooowly reaching his foot over him, and how slooowly Ray died even after Dr. F squished him, and all my previous reasons in my last post, it didn't strike me as a heartwrenching death like Old Yeller, Bambi's mom, or Mufasa. For me, it was more like "Hey, it's a Disney movie; we HAVE to kill off a main character somehow!"
@IndianaJonesfans09 Because audiences loved him the most. He was the sweetest and most innocent, so naturally, it would've broken more hearts if HE was killed off.
Death is not a topic one expects to see come up in a Disney movie. But nonetheless, this scene had the intended effect-it moved you to tears and made you all the happier to see the hero's come out on top in the end.
Just watched it and this part made me cry. Great title btw RAY'S FUNERAL attention spoilers -.-
But I one of those people that believe after a certain time you should already know what happened and if you haven't you shouldn't have looked up the videos.
I blame Jim Cummings for being such a good voice actor, he put so much emotion into Ray's final moments I was sitting in the back of the cinema trying to stop myself from crying
Omg this part never fails to make me shed a tear... <X( Welcome back, Disney... the heart is coming back and this scene/movie is living proof... More of these types of movies plz lol
R.I.P, Ray... You were awesome and are now with your Evangaline...
*cries and claps and gives standing ovation for Ray*
That was half the joke of all this. Because Ray and Evangeline became the 'second star to the right' that appeared in Peter Pan, but Timon from Lion King was also right, as he had stated that stars are 'fireflies stuck up in the big bluish black thing'.
I don't know if chronologically makes sense, but it's still super cute. xD
I always cry when Ray dies. He gave them all a new perspective in their lives. :) Then he becomes the star to Neverland with Evangeline. So in a way, Ray did have a happy ending (:
Ray Will Always Be The Second Brightest Star In The Sky. Always there with Evengiline. Both watching Tiana and Naveen from the sky.

Death is not a topic one expects to see come up in a Disney movie. But nonetheless, this scene had the intended effect-it moved you to tears and made you all the happier to see the hero's come out on top in the end.

@dkupke Really, didn't you see bambi or the Lion king?
Or any princess movie really, where they've all lost a parent or two...

Just watched it and this part made me cry. Great title btw RAY'S FUNERAL attention spoilers -.-
But I one of those people that believe after a certain time you should already know what happened and if you haven't you shouldn't have looked up the videos.

hey you know the second star to the right in Peter pan....are they talking about evangeline...
also a little side fact ...the evening star" is the planet venus..which coincidently is named for the roman goddess of Love

I blame Jim Cummings for being such a good voice actor, he put so much emotion into Ray's final moments I was sitting in the back of the cinema trying to stop myself from crying
*whines* DAMMIT JIM! *weeps*

hey!!...that looks like the two stars from peter pan!
darkhorn92 1 year ago 4
That was half the joke of all this. Because Ray and Evangeline became the 'second star to the right' that appeared in Peter Pan, but Timon from Lion King was also right, as he had stated that stars are 'fireflies stuck up in the big bluish black thing'.
I don't know if chronologically makes sense, but it's still super cute. xD

I was so upset when I saw this on the cinema. I mean- Dinsey cannot kill good-guys! Can they?
IMBFire92 1 year ago
@IMBFire92 Well, they killed Simba's dad Mufasa...they killed Ariel's mom...they killed Cinderella's real parents...the list can go on xD lol

I always cry when Ray dies. He gave them all a new perspective in their lives. :) Then he becomes the star to Neverland with Evangeline. So in a way, Ray did have a happy ending (:
I miss these movies. :')
