The notes say 'report - to present oneself: report for duty.' My understanding of English is quite limited however, so I don't really understand what Cohen means when he asks 'or did you report'. I had presumed it meant a news correspondent going to report on 9/11. Have you got any ideas?

What does 'report' mean in this song? I always thought it was just the usual meaning but I think the notes from Dear Heather said it meant something else, but I've forgotten what now.
