  • QC sent me here too

  • Thank QC for sending me here

  • QC sent me here, and this is amazing!!!

  • Looked this up after reading Questionable Content.

Don't think I really like the music.

  • Blueberry Boat is really best to listen to when you're in the car alone... maybe driving 4-5 hours so that you can get into it, keep your attention to the road and then let the ideas inside this ambitious work permeate your train of thought. It seems choppy, but it becomes very fluid. My favorite part is all of "Mason City", but even that part needs the rest of the content to really work. I recall driving 9 hours once, and I put this opus on at least twice. Charles Eames would get it.

  • Yeah, listen QC, this music makes my ears hurt, I'm going back to metal

  • If Down Home Southernaires and Animal Collective had a baby, then that baby was adopted and raised by the Polyphonic Spree, and then it did acid, this is the music it would produce.

  • what the fuck is going on in this song....I think I need to drink some more midnight hobo to understand it all.

  • Meh. QC sent me here, but I still hate people that do that.

  • I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING. I THINK I LIKE IT BUT IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO BE SURE!

  • fail

  • I too came here from QC. Honestly, this sounds like music from the original Planet of the Apes soundtrack....

  • WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?? O___O

  • the 20 unlikes are comun people

  • Dont know what QC is... but i just heard this weird ass song on my Pandora station... had to hear it again... still dont know if i like it.. but i simply had to hear it again.

  • @erichw23 Questionble Content. It's a comic about stupid things.

  • I will not convert, but yes I came here from Questionable Content. I'm not sure why I keep checking out every band mentioned - I dislike each and everyone (metalhead mostly) but love the comic.

  • I like Questionable Content, but I listened to this, and thought Dora's description of them was extremely accurate. The Who writing music for ADD kids.

  • Here from Questionable Content. I think it's successfully turned me hipster; I'm concerned that listening to this after reading QC is too mainstream, gahhhhhh.

  • @mkellars

Your pain is felt, my friend :p. Though, I didn't get into Fiery Furnaces as much as Arcade Fire.

  • never heard of questionable content. i found this vid after reading somewhere about how much these guys hate radiohead (who i happen to like). i like this song better than some.

  • i hate this song it's just like they said in questionable content you either like it or you dont

    or it melts your brain

i think it's melted my brain now

  • I bet half the people are here from QC XD

  • I hope they have more music like this and this isn't just their most experimental track or something.

    That would really suck.

  • QC^^

  • Jason Steele lead me here.

  • uh wuh buh.... HUH? i can't even this... but i don't know my opinion....?

  • Scary go round motherf*ckers

    reading the back catalogue :D

  • 18 people didn't have their blueberries with them.

  • What the hell is Questionable Context?

  • @rekrapnahte

Webcomic. Makes various comments about music. Start from comic 1 because it's a complete story. Read.

  • this ... thsi song has melted my brain....

I have seriously lost the ability to think right now.

    o.O

  • What a pleasant mindfuck.

  • Oh jeebus is this grating, think my ears are bleeding.

    Thanks QC.

  • Wow. All QC readers. I knew about them before I read QC, lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @5927L0VE - Clearly, you have worked your way up to the very highest rung on the ladder of musical enlightenment--that notion of any QC-reading hipster-proles reaching such lofty heights is unfathomable, because see, while they merely heard of this band from somewhere/someone else (as is the case with pretty much anyone who discovers a new band...), you liked them /before/ anybody heard of them. Which makes you cooler/better/more trendy/whatever, of course.

    Your condescension is stinky.

  • I do read QC but i guess i didnt read it closely enough? Thats not why im here.

  • thumbs up for questionable content :)

  • this band almost made me poop my pants

  • this band almost made me shit myself in cincinnati.......

  • Guess im not the only one sent here by QC o.o Im feeling like a sheep now -_-

  • Ok I admit I was sent here by QC. Not sure how to feel about it, aside from the fact that it totally reminds me of Earthbound. Not a bad thing, that.

  • @46gil

Don't care how much they got here, just that they may be interested in this excellent album! Thanks for commenting Reg-Met Dude

  • @46gil smoking dope was a daily routine since age thirteen?

The juxtaposition makes more sense in light of that.

  • @46gil

nope, I fell in love with their Bonnaroo performance a couple years ago

admittedly, QC did cause me to come back to it

  • @46gil QC just helped me realize i only listened to indie music. -N

  • @46gil well i looked this up cuz of questionable content actually O_O i think ill stick with my metal and alt (and you think you had an odd mix)

  • @46gil ya, that's where I came from

  • @46gil you like reggea and metal? try skindred, they REALLY mix it :D

But yeah, I'm from QC too ._.

  • @Imladris96 HOLY SHIT they are awesome :D . thanks a lot :))

  • @46gil no problem, I always enjoy to spread good music :D

  • @46gil yes.

  • @46gil haha nah, i was already a hipster. Questionable Content only introduced me to this band so far :P Oh and Deerhoof~

  • @46gil two years ago i was a metalhead.

tonight, i realised i'm exactly like Dora from the first 300 strips: gothic, but slowly starts listening to indie music. but with a dick... i even have a friend who works in a coffee shop. so that would probably make me like marten...

  • great!!!

  • Would it be ironic or stupid to say I knew of almost all the bands before i read questionable content? most likely both

  • @xXmoraleXx Dude, you get a hundred hipster points for that!

I learned about The Fiery Furnaces from TV Tropes, then I encountered them again in Questionable Content. :)

  • @xXmoraleXx I dunno I'm in the same boat, and while I loathe hipsters I'm probably just in denial as I listen to the same bands...

  • I think I'm going to curl up in a small pile of fear, confusion, and euphoria now.

  • Yeah Questionable Content is pretty kickass

  • I just finished watching Jonah Hex at freemoviesstreaming , net

  • ttreasure hunting game sound effects (waves and gulls) actually compliment this quie well.....

  • Fun Fact: This pile of ear-rape almost made me stop reading QC...almost.

  • @KnathanofCydonia hey, i got this through QC, and I liked it!........

okay, I might be a bit more ADD than I'd like to admit.

  • QC is the cause of many people listening to this song xD haha i love how that works :P

  • QC forever indeed.

  • Mind blowing! I think I've seen 95% of all the images here at least once, that comes from being a diehard comicbook addict.

  • it sounds like someone making residents loops somehow sound boring

  • I'm rereading QC from the very beginning in 2003 and looking up a whole bunch of the indie bands they reference. This is a really long but pretty epic song.

  • This is art.

  • Oh man, my brain is liquefied... Questionable Content forever!

  • freaky

  • "What the heck are we listening to anyway? It sounds like The Who writing music for ADD kids." - QC.

  • @LifeInPinas The opinion of Questionable Content is not a good measure of quality, and its totally shitty.

  • loseer

  • all the freaky people make the beauty of the world! 5 stars

  • freaky

  • dutteh video slideshow.

  • I feel high after this...

  • hey man.... i dont see megaman on the slideshow roster... and i totally saw him shortly afer bjork.. didnt i?

  • Yeah, Megaman is in there. I stopped listing at a certain point. I should get back to that someday, huh!

  • @jonanjello 3:06 he's there

  • I can see the who- tommy in particular, just hints of it though, very subtle.

  • it sounds like THE WHO writing music for kids with ADD

  • Someone's a Questionable Content reader.

  • heh yeah, i dont really get many of the references they say since i dont listen to ALOT of music but theyr funny as hell all the other times, i just got my friend started on it and he didnt message me back for a week, he couldnt stop reading lol

  • love the video and this is probably my favorite Fiery Furnaces song.

  • I wonder how many ppl just HAD to find this song after reference in Questioable content... :)

  • That is how I discovered them an now they rank among my favorite bands lol

  • @Frisbeeeman

I did, lolz. I've discovered loads of awesome bands via QC. xD

  • @Frisbeeeman I would be one of those lol, and I don't regret it =P

  • @Frisbeeeman What can I say? Its a good comic with references to awesome music. :>

  • @Frisbeeeman i did

  • @Frisbeeeman You know what, FUCK YOU.

  • sICK. . . .!

  • psychotic - SICK- TWISTED - psychedelic

  • It's only on the Fiery Furnaces' song, Chris Michaels, that I hear a Who-sounding song. Never did get the FF/Who comparison...

  • The Who writing music for kids with ADD? More like The Who writing for kids on acid.

  • Questionable content FTW!

  • ya know when i read questionable content i never know who or what theyr listening to so i always figure its some winey boy in a hoodey playing guitar and complaining about something

  • I'm not seeing the The Who in their music.

    Acid, however.

  • adhd kids on acid/speed on a tilt-a-whirl

  • Wow the first time I heard this, I thought it was a joke, but it's really a song? Some people just ain't right.

  • the speed ups and downs of this song remind me of an acid trip

  • The entire album "Blueberry Boat" is amazing. From what I've read, apparently this is an album that you either love or hate. I'm completely in love.

  • This is actually fairly easy to enjoy.

When I heard "The Who writing music for ADD kids" I was expecting a bit even more clumped.

  • Also here cause of QC. XD Boy, this stuff catches on quick, huh?

  • that chick is hella sexy

  • this is a very good track....

  • Try Chief Inspector Blancheflower, if you're unfamiliar with the track...

  • good to see i'm not the only person who searched this cause of QC

  • But are you glad to have heard it?

  • it's a fascinating song to be sure. I dont dislike it

  • Actually, I stumbled onto Questionable Content on Sunday, I loved it, and then I decided to listen to Indie because of it (I never gave it a chance before). Now I LOVE Indie music. I only heard Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, and The New Pornographers, all of which Kaye and Marten talked about. I love Indie though, and it is going to stick with me. (I'm still keeping some of my old music tastes though, which is mostly Alt. Rock and Classic Rock).

  • try The Pixies theys the best

  • I've made about 8 Fiery Furnaces slideshows. Take a look at my playlists on my YT page. Not trying to drum up attention for my images or endeavors, but for the music. It's some of their best stuff!

  • Hahah...i found this via QC as well

  • This DOES sound like the Who writing music for ADD kids!

  • very accurate!

  • Questionable Content FTW

  • Lol, QC is same reason I searched this to, I love it! ^^

  • possibly one of the best songs to explain an adventure to. i mean the song IS an adventure in the first place!

  • This what it feels like to drink 4 double esspressos and run a half marathon on a cloudy day while you're in fantastic shape and everything just comes together and you turn in a killer time.

  • Haha - perfect!

  • okay, i thought i saw CHRIS ELLIOT in there! ha ha ha!!!

  • Here's hoping the complete Get A Life will someday see release on DVD.

  • This video could be hypnotic, or headache inducing... I don't want to stare long enough to figure out which it does to me. I love The Fiery Furnaces though.

  • i like the neverending feel of all those images in my head i love comic books and all my friends like adam strange ,the sea hag witch, plastic man , chris elliot, dick tracey how kewl, brava! bravo! blueberryboat insanely awesome!!rockonbonzo76!!

  • Thanks, man!

  • i like it too much, this band is hard, dificult, hypnotic, personal and beautiful.

  • What is your favorite Fiery Furnaces album? Mine used to be Widow City (what can I say, I like 70's style rock) , but Bitter Tea is really provoking....

  • Blueberry Boat is my favorite. Then Gallowsbird's Bark.

I don't enjoy Bitter Tea very much. Those three are the only albums I own by the FF.

I should give Widow City a try....

  • this video is going to give people epilepsy!

  • What genre is this:)?

  • good luck with figuring that out...

  • this is.... this is....

  • sparta?

  • the first time i heard this i thought "wtf?". Its grown on me immensely since then.

  • Do you own the album? Nearly the whole thing is compelling

  • I agree, Jonan... The entire album is amazing. Compelling is a good word for it. Other words describe it: Complex, Messy, Organized, Nonsensical, Whimsical, Beautiful, Intense, Dynamic, Eclectic, Erudite

  • I imagine this song is what it sounds like when your brain completely collapses into a soup of dopamine and serotonin, and is then plugged directly into a synthesiser. I am yet to determine if this is a good thing or not.

  • I know what you mean, I'm probably going to have nightmares about doctors playing the piano and changing pace all the time.

  • I like the song, but this video doesn't make any sense to me.

  • The 'video' was an animated GIF i created as an avater I used some years back on a board game forum.

Just threw the images into IMovie to accompany this song.

  • The video sux but da music is great and they are fantastic musicians yo.

  • Yo!

  • Yooooooooooo!

It saddens me that I recognized about 90% of the images in the video.

  • Why saddens you?

  • Because I'm geeky enough to know most of them. :p

  • A toast to our geekiness!

  • It's like I put my iPod into a blender and hit Frappe............

  • hilarious. :)

  • Hahhaha

  • ha ha man thats great, hilarious

  • i just listened to this entire song...........wow. this is awesome

  • It is a great song. The whole album, Blueberry Boat is an amazing listen. Highly recommended.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

  • i don't really get it but.........THAT WAS AWESOME!

  • I second that!

  • Well... I... They... you...

Okay, this melts my brain even if it isn't three A.M. yet.

  • That one piano thing at 8:17 or so actually stops sounding dissonant if you listen to it long enough.

This is not easy listening. This is the musical equivalent of Cthullu with a side of double-you tee eff.

    And I... really like it.

Also, did half the people hear about this song on QC first or something?

  • QC? I don't understand?

Green Oracle, if you like this song, definitely consider getting the entire album and the FF's first work, Gallowsbird's Bark.

  • "Questionable Content" its a rely badass webcomic. And yes it is where I heard about this song

  • On QCIs there a specific reference to the song you can link for me? Thanks.

In the meantime, I'll do my own snooping about.

  • On QCIs there a specific reference to the song you can link for me? Thanks.

EDIT: Never mind - I found it! That's cool.....

  • This is awesome, thanks for posting!!!

  • Thanks modchic75

  • If you smoke a joint and listen to this song, you can actually see the story as if it was an opera

  • By that point I wouldn't be able to press play. Or stay in my chair.

  • love this song, they were awesome at bonaroo

  • Jesus Christ this song does not end!

  • Fantastic MUSIC!

  • low resolution is low.

  • Yes, in this version, I had incorrectly placed the images in a setting that was not proper for their small size.

recently I uploaded another version of this song and footage.

    Hope it's a little better.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

  • Whoa... They mention Fiery Furnaces in 'Questionable Content' and uh... 'Nigh incomprehensible' is right. Just wow. (Not in a bad way though. I think.)
