Blueberry Boat is really best to listen to when you're in the car alone... maybe driving 4-5 hours so that you can get into it, keep your attention to the road and then let the ideas inside this ambitious work permeate your train of thought. It seems choppy, but it becomes very fluid. My favorite part is all of "Mason City", but even that part needs the rest of the content to really work. I recall driving 9 hours once, and I put this opus on at least twice. Charles Eames would get it.
If Down Home Southernaires and Animal Collective had a baby, then that baby was adopted and raised by the Polyphonic Spree, and then it did acid, this is the music it would produce.
Dont know what QC is... but i just heard this weird ass song on my Pandora station... had to hear it again... still dont know if i like it.. but i simply had to hear it again.
I will not convert, but yes I came here from Questionable Content. I'm not sure why I keep checking out every band mentioned - I dislike each and everyone (metalhead mostly) but love the comic.
I like Questionable Content, but I listened to this, and thought Dora's description of them was extremely accurate. The Who writing music for ADD kids.
Here from Questionable Content. I think it's successfully turned me hipster; I'm concerned that listening to this after reading QC is too mainstream, gahhhhhh.
never heard of questionable content. i found this vid after reading somewhere about how much these guys hate radiohead (who i happen to like). i like this song better than some.
@5927L0VE - Clearly, you have worked your way up to the very highest rung on the ladder of musical enlightenment--that notion of any QC-reading hipster-proles reaching such lofty heights is unfathomable, because see, while they merely heard of this band from somewhere/someone else (as is the case with pretty much anyone who discovers a new band...), you liked them /before/ anybody heard of them. Which makes you cooler/better/more trendy/whatever, of course.
tonight, i realised i'm exactly like Dora from the first 300 strips: gothic, but slowly starts listening to indie music. but with a dick... i even have a friend who works in a coffee shop. so that would probably make me like marten...
I'm rereading QC from the very beginning in 2003 and looking up a whole bunch of the indie bands they reference. This is a really long but pretty epic song.
heh yeah, i dont really get many of the references they say since i dont listen to ALOT of music but theyr funny as hell all the other times, i just got my friend started on it and he didnt message me back for a week, he couldnt stop reading lol
ya know when i read questionable content i never know who or what theyr listening to so i always figure its some winey boy in a hoodey playing guitar and complaining about something
Actually, I stumbled onto Questionable Content on Sunday, I loved it, and then I decided to listen to Indie because of it (I never gave it a chance before). Now I LOVE Indie music. I only heard Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, and The New Pornographers, all of which Kaye and Marten talked about. I love Indie though, and it is going to stick with me. (I'm still keeping some of my old music tastes though, which is mostly Alt. Rock and Classic Rock).
I've made about 8 Fiery Furnaces slideshows. Take a look at my playlists on my YT page. Not trying to drum up attention for my images or endeavors, but for the music. It's some of their best stuff!
This what it feels like to drink 4 double esspressos and run a half marathon on a cloudy day while you're in fantastic shape and everything just comes together and you turn in a killer time.
This video could be hypnotic, or headache inducing... I don't want to stare long enough to figure out which it does to me. I love The Fiery Furnaces though.
i like the neverending feel of all those images in my head i love comic books and all my friends like adam strange ,the sea hag witch, plastic man , chris elliot, dick tracey how kewl, brava! bravo! blueberryboat insanely awesome!!rockonbonzo76!!
What is your favorite Fiery Furnaces album? Mine used to be Widow City (what can I say, I like 70's style rock) , but Bitter Tea is really provoking....
I agree, Jonan... The entire album is amazing. Compelling is a good word for it. Other words describe it: Complex, Messy, Organized, Nonsensical, Whimsical, Beautiful, Intense, Dynamic, Eclectic, Erudite
I imagine this song is what it sounds like when your brain completely collapses into a soup of dopamine and serotonin, and is then plugged directly into a synthesiser. I am yet to determine if this is a good thing or not.
