John McCain is Big Energy's Biotch and always has been. He started his career with money from Peabody Coal and wrote legislation after legislation to forcibly relocate the Navajo in Arizona and force them to live on a nuclear dump site. All so that Cindy's beer company could get a big contract with the Las Vegas casinos. McCain is establishment all the way. The only boundaries he goes outside of are the boudaries of human decency!
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, are you kidding me? the REASON NOT TO DRILL ANYMORE is that we don't need oil from any source. There are so many other energy sources that lie untapped. Take the time to look into the technology hidden from us for years. And the obvious ones like Wind, Hydrogen, Solar, Pedal, Water. Driving oil prices back down will be passing up on the chance to start fixing one of our greatest mistakes.
Mr. Barr, the reason we have not drilled off shore is because spills do happen. There are hundreds of oil well spills every year. The oil spilled after Katrina was almost as much as the 1969 California oil spill that brought about the ban in the first place. 44 oil rigs were sunk. We were fortunate that it stayed out in the Gulf. Why play Russian roulette with costal cities just to get enoungh oil that would be equal to raising the auto fuel standards by a mile per gallon.

If Americans and their media would spend less energy disseminating the McCain/Obama 'pooh' on governance and concentrate on issues like what Paul/Barr raise like balanced energy policy with Nuclear+hydrocarbon+solar+wind would already have been an established energy policy norm in the U.S.
All four energy sources are established technologies-what's keeping the U.S. from acting?
Simple answer: the brand of a bloated and corrupt 2 party system it keeps as democratic.
The answer = Reduce consumption using mass transportation, hybrids, biofuels, nuclear, wind,(a combination). Then drill here to supply our own oil and cut off the savages in the mid-east all together. Let them blow each other up and do whatever they want, and if we don't need them for oil.... Who cares?
Opening up ANWAR is just more govt. intervention. At the most it's just a temporary fix to our energy problems. The demand for oil is rising globally. The Fed would have to force the oil companies drilling in ANWAR to sell only to US citizens versus selling to every buyer i.e. China and India. The true libertarian position is to just let the price rise due to increased demand until the market changes on its own and there is an afforable alternative developed to take oil's place.
Glad Barr finally highlighted the huge hole in McCain's drilling policy that the main stream media so cowardly failed to report or discuss - namely, that McCain is not "in favor" of drilling at all; McCain is only "in favor" of permitting states the freedom to allow drilling. Yeah the Oil companies have lots of land they are not drilling on, thats because there isn't oil on that land. Oil isn't everywhere underneath the earth, only certain places and the places where the biggest reserves of oil exist are currently off limits. I'm sick of that democratic talking point, along with that B.S. that it will take us 10 years to get the oil. Are you kidding me, we went to the moon in less than ten years, we invented the atom bomb in 4 years, gimme a break.
33 million acres of offshore areas already available to drill and not being drilled, why does the oil and gas industry need to have access to still more? The fact is that nearly 25 BILLION barrels of oil off the coast of the United States is currently available for drilling...and industry is not drilling it.
If they are not drilling on it there is a reason why. It is probably too expensive to do so, they not drilling because they just don't feel like it. You have to give companies the leeway to do business otherwise they get too scared and don't invest and develop. In the short run you would give tax breaks to encourage them, instead of windfall profits taxes like some are proposing (which would probably drive up the cost of gas even more).

What better way to solve a pollution problem? Instead of looking at the constitution people take things right to a federal level, did you know that the state's could handle these matters in a much more efficient manner than the D.C. federal beauracracy? The constitution laid this out in the 9th and 10th amendment! Obama and McCain dive head first into federal solutions instead of preaching state's efficiency. Barr is right, pollution can not be efficienctly done at the national level!
Bob Barr - your message of FREEDOM is getting to me. I like the fact you also allow anyone the FREEDOM to post comments on your videos as Ron Paul did.
There's a video up now with a "mother" named Ania Egland in which she says she's willing to sacrifice her children for Bush's war. The irony is that she talks of "freedom" but no one has the "freedom" to make any comment on her video unless they're a neo-con who wants to kiss Bush's butt.
Maybe he's "really" changed (???), but to me and I'm sure a LOT of other Americans (left and right), Barr IS the poster boy for when the Republican Party lost ALL sense of priorities in the late 90's.
What's next, Ken Starr as VP? (lol) The sex police ticket?
Tell me what I'm missing. Is Barr (now - lol)TRULY a libertarian OR just another Republican looking for attention. I am decades removed from voting for Republican candidates who "TALK" a good game.
I am terribly sorry for commenting three times but I think for Amerika to be a Superpower again they need a person who can get the country back on their feet.
Amerika you need oil because your whole economy is based off of it. Use your resources! But in the mean time try to convert to alternative resources because that oil will not be around forever.
Vote for this man Amerika. He is a Amerikan politician that makes sense out of what he says!
Reminds me of a chaos agent or mr whiffle. If you are voting to "send a message" to the other parties. I just don't think it's gonna work. Well it never has.
I can't imagine any self respecting conservative voting for McCain. Sad part is, most of those who claim to be "conservatives" have no clue what the term means. How far the mighty have fallen!
If the majority of Conservatives in America were like the Conservatives in Germany the country of America would be different in better ways!
I live in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland and I used to live in America for a few years. The conservatives in your country like you said have no idea what it means! I think that this man and real conservatives would make great allies in the White House. He is a good candidate. I would vote for him in a second.
this is one republican who will be voting for Bob Barr! McCain is just another liberal neo-Con who will continue the failed policy of big spending and big government. he says he'll cut spending but supports the $1 trillion a year war and says he's willing to have a military presence in Iraq for 100 years if necessary. any idea how much that will cost? he also talks about going to war Iran, more spending! i'll be voting for the only candidate for change...BOB BARR!
Honestly I don't think he will win, But we definitely won't win if we vote for McCain or Obama. Pick your poison or... make your vote count this time.
A 3rd Party candidate basically has no shot of becoming President in this country. the point of voting 3rd Party is to send a message to the main parties that we are not happy with their platform. republicans used to be conservative, now we nominate liberal neo-Cons who support big government and big spending. i would like to return to the traditional conservative platform. until then, i will only vote for Ron Paul Republicans and Libertarians! i hope McCain loses by an embarrassing amount!
A Time Magazine poll indicates 70% of Americans are sick of BOTH parties and wish there was someone else they could vote for. All it would take is to wake them up from the defeatist delusion that not voting the "lesser of two evils" is a waste. I'd love to see people vote for us. Please, though, VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE! Libertarian, Constitution, Green, Democrat, Republican... heck, even Communist! But never the "lesser of two evils!"
Our chances are slim, but doing right is never easy.
My personal polls reveal that 95% of americans are idiots who think they get what they vote for. You get what they give you. George Carlin had it right.
So what you're saying is that we shouldn't even TRY to make things better?
I do agree that as long as we have a 2-party system the government will never give citizens what they want and need. Why should they when they can do whatever they want and still have a 50/50 shot at whatever job they want? Even if they do lose they've got party buddies that will appoint them to something! Stand up for yourself. Give 'em a scare and maybe, just maybe, we, as a nation, can regain control.
While I intend to vote for Congressman Barr I find an energy policy of drill in ANWAR and along the continental shelf a bit bland, uninspirational... This campaign is going to have to have excitement and pizzaz to bring [people onboard and an exciting energy prolicy is a great pleace to start. Declare July 4th, 2015 the new American Independence Day, the day we will restore our independence by regianing energy independnce. Waive royalties from fedreal leases...
I like your energy plan very much. I will help spread the word to everyone I know. This video needs 10 stars. I am gladly adding this video to my video log. One final thing Bob Barr makes me proud to soon start LP Ocala FL.
mutedmajority... you will vote for obama... you will vote for a socialist, and more government intervention in your lives. You are an idiot. Please do America a favor and stay home and smoke crack that day instead.
I like Bob Barr and I plain on voting for him. But one comment in this video bothers me. "McCain thinks the states should decide whether we drill or not. I believe we have a national problem not a 50 state problem." Aren't libertarians more pro state government than federal government? Is Barr saying that the federal govt. should over ride the govt. of Florida? it's a comment like that that keep me from becoming a strong Barr supporter.
You do have an excellent point, but I suppose it would matter whether the drilling areas are state waters or national waters. Could go into a debate about whether the federal or state governments should own any land or areas of water, but as it stands I suppose that if he's talking about federal areas such as ANWR and offshore drilling then it would be the feds who ought to determine it; for the time being. But yeah, it's a weird position for a libertarian to be sure.
"The Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (272 KB PDF file), created on August 7, 1953, defines the OCS as all submerged lands lying seaward of state coastal waters (3 miles offshore) which are under U.S. jurisdiction. Under the OCSLA, the Secretary of the Interior is responsible for the administration of mineral ex"ploration and development of the OCS.
That's funny because it's true. That continent is one tangled maze of centralized bureacratic bloatedness-with the exception of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and a few others who've opted out.
But it's sad because it's actually appropriate to compare our situation with that of the EU. Good for Ireland for rejecting the latest round of "integration."
My country of Germany has a Republic for a government and it is pretty nice. The EU has a strong influence on us though. But still our country of Germany depends a lot on Military equipment. Even though our industrial strength is not that good. If Amerika could just get their industrial strength back (which is what defeated us in WWII) Amerika can become a superpower of the world again. Amerika just needs to get their shit together. And voting for Obama or McCain will not do that.
The Euro is fine, it is just currency anyway. I was not around when Germany had the Deutsch Mark so I do not know how it was as a seperate country. I for one do not want Germany to be part of the EU anymore because the EU regulates everything it's member countries do. The countries in Europe could really show potential if they were independant.
Yeah, too bad Ron Paul couldn't have been his running mate (impossible since the Libertarians nominate both Pres. and VP candidates at the same time, but one can dream. . .)
Finally... A candidate with a workable energy solution that does not debilitate the free market with asinine, arbitrary limits on what an acceptable level of pollution actually is.
ok ok... its $4+ but I think hes pretty good friends with the cashier at the gas station near his house - Bob drives a Dodge Magnum with the Hemi... it moves.
I am trying to support you Mr. Barr; but this and the lack of a back bone on gay rights has kept me from volunteering and possibly donating what little I can afford.
Back bone as in get the federal government out of it? What are "gay" rights? There is nothing other than "individual" rights, any other "rights" is contrary to "every man is created equal".
As I told my ex-father-in-law.... " I would much rather go to hell with a bunch of fun loving gays, then to goto heaven with bigots like you"
I am glad my current wife agrees to meet me in hell because I hold Gays as people with equal creation... Their marriage surly does not affect the love I have for my wife... what is your problem?
Gay rights fall into the state's hands and not the Government's. Also, there are no "Gay rights". Only "Individual" rights. You have all the rights the Government gives any other person. The right to be married if that is what you are referring to falls in the hands of the state.
I can explain why drilling in ANWR is a bad idea.. you mention the "minimal risk" yet, you fail to mention the minimal reward, ANWR at best estimates of the oil in ANWR is between 3.4 billion to 10.2 billion barrels, with production at about 1.6 million a day, America uses 20 million barrels a day.. please explain how this is going to effect oil reserves to any degree worth the risk of drilling in a nature reserve. I thought you were for obeying Congress, which set that site aside for protection
I might not agree with Bob about everything but I agree with him a lot more than either of the two jokers from the 2 parties. Bob is the only one who has a real energy policy.
I like a lot about what Bob Barr says. McCain is trying to pander to the Envirofreaks and the uninformed. My question. Is he a spoiler for the Socialist and Marxist who support the Democrat Party? I don't care what party you are we must support the clear cut push Drill Here Drill Now Pay Less campaign. Google it and sign the petition. It's 1 MILLION AND GROWING.
We are being told by McCain that we will have to "Cap and Trade" our liberty and our pursuit of happiness in the fight against global warming, essentially that if we don't give government more money and power, utopia will never be reached. The differences between McCain and Obama are minimal, when you consider that both believe big government can save you from yourself, and that we can save other nations from themselves as well.
Please support Barr and give liberty a voice in the debates.
Cap and Trade would be the end to our economy. The cost would of course trickle down to the consumer and create a giant piggybank for our Politicans. US companies would be forced to move operations to other countries just to stay profitable.
The support of Cap and Trade by both Obama and McCain is reason enough to not vote for them and instead vote for Bob Barr.
I don't disagree with the basic idea of Cap and Trade, I just disagree with its implementation. Since the air we all breathe is a good that we all have to use and share (there's no way to divide it into individual property like most things), I think you should have to pay a certain amount in exchange for degrading the quality of it.
BUT, A. the amount charged should be offset by reduced income taxes
B. if there IS any net increase in revenue caused by the "pollution credit", it should go to the people, NOT the gov't, and C. there should be no built-in increases in cost and decreases in the amount of pollution allowed. Companies and individuals that learn to pollute less over time should be rewarded.
I am undecided on whether companies should be allowed to sell extra credits to other companies, but I certainly prefer that to making other companies pay the government for extra credits.
I am a strong believer in individual rights/responsibilities and the free market, but at the same time, I don't see how it's right to allow person/company A to pollute the air of people B, C, and D without B, C, and D being compensated.
Unfortunately with a product like the atmosphere there really is no way to buy/sell it as individuals. If anybody can figure out a way to, please tell me! I really hate collectivist solutions.
P.S. don't think any of the above means I don't support Bob Barr. I firmly believe he's this country's best chance to regain its former great status, rather than continuing its decline and going the way of the Roman Empire.
Sounds like McCain's drilling policy is so complicated that he can vote for it knowing no one will ever be able to meet all the requirements to actually drill.
Much the same as building a new refinery. Its not against the law to build a refinery, its just imposable to get past the regulatory nonsense.
Hey brother! I can't trust him yet. I feel really good about Chuck Baldwin. I just don't see Barr sharing my libertarian and constitutional values. He's not done enough (to me) to show he's not the evil things he was before. It takes supporting legislation that is pro liberty. He's done the opposite. To me, he's a LINO. I just can't trust him. I don't compromise my principles. That is why I love RP. Baldwin is very similar to RP. Good to see you are still looking in the right places!
Jeez, you seem angry. I hope you are not someone who considers himself a libertarian. I don't know any libertarian minded people who say that kind of stuff. Nasty language too. How does it make you feel to speak like that? Do you feel that it helps you make your point better and strengthens your mind? I post here because I'm exercising my right of free speech. Perhaps I'm a effing moron, but I'm sure glad I don't act like you. Thanks and good luck. :)
The election is over. McCain can go back to the old folks' home and Barr can go back to pumping gas for a living.

I can't imagine any self respecting conservative voting for McCain. Sad part is, most of those who claim to be "conservatives" have no clue what the term means. How far the mighty have fallen!
Leoninmiami 3 years ago 2
If the majority of Conservatives in America were like the Conservatives in Germany the country of America would be different in better ways!
I live in the Bundesrepublik Deutschland and I used to live in America for a few years. The conservatives in your country like you said have no idea what it means! I think that this man and real conservatives would make great allies in the White House. He is a good candidate. I would vote for him in a second.
Airsofter234 3 years ago
It's all clear now. Anyone who votes for the dumb and dumber deserves what they get.
jerome209 3 years ago
this is one republican who will be voting for Bob Barr!
Kras3169 3 years ago 2
So you really think he'll win? I know it's embarassing, please answer honestly.
mutedmajority 3 years ago
Honestly I don't think he will win, But we definitely won't win if we vote for McCain or Obama. Pick your poison or... make your vote count this time.
jerome209 3 years ago 2
A 3rd Party candidate basically has no shot of becoming President in this country. the point of voting 3rd Party is to send a message to the main parties that we are not happy with their platform. republicans used to be conservative, now we nominate liberal neo-Cons who support big government and big spending. i would like to return to the traditional conservative platform. until then, i will only vote for Ron Paul Republicans and Libertarians! i hope McCain loses by an embarrassing amount!
Kras3169 3 years ago
A Time Magazine poll indicates 70% of Americans are sick of BOTH parties and wish there was someone else they could vote for. All it would take is to wake them up from the defeatist delusion that not voting the "lesser of two evils" is a waste. I'd love to see people vote for us. Please, though, VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE! Libertarian, Constitution, Green, Democrat, Republican... heck, even Communist! But never the "lesser of two evils!"
Our chances are slim, but doing right is never easy.
Amhrafaidh 3 years ago
My personal polls reveal that 95% of americans are idiots who think they get what they vote for. You get what they give you. George Carlin had it right.
mutedmajority 3 years ago

Narrator007 3 years ago
I like Bob Barr and I plain on voting for him. But one comment in this video bothers me. "McCain thinks the states should decide whether we drill or not. I believe we have a national problem not a 50 state problem." Aren't libertarians more pro state government than federal government? Is Barr saying that the federal govt. should over ride the govt. of Florida? it's a comment like that that keep me from becoming a strong Barr supporter.
swampfoxx81 3 years ago 2

"The European Union couldn't do better."

Airsofter234 3 years ago
Yeah, Germany has done pretty well in the EU. Still the most powerful country in Europe, right? Now, who won that war again?
I jest.
Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about the Euro?
In any case, pray for us, brother.
RMMHS4RP 3 years ago
The Euro is fine, it is just currency anyway. I was not around when Germany had the Deutsch Mark so I do not know how it was as a seperate country. I for one do not want Germany to be part of the EU anymore because the EU regulates everything it's member countries do. The countries in Europe could really show potential if they were independant.

Their marriage surly does not affect the love I have for my wife... what is your problem?
afacetiousguy 3 years ago
I think you didn't understand what I said, I'm for gay rights... the 'marriage protection act' that barr helped get passed is hardly pro gay
kingburglekutt 3 years ago
Gay rights fall into the state's hands and not the Government's. Also, there are no "Gay rights". Only "Individual" rights. You have all the rights the Government gives any other person. The right to be married if that is what you are referring to falls in the hands of the state.
Airsofter234 3 years ago
I disagree about it being a state matter, I feel that the 14th amendment makes it a federal matter

I thought you were for obeying Congress, which set that site aside for protection
kingburglekutt 3 years ago
You don't understand how, according to your own statistics, almost 10% of our oil coming from America could help us?
Nillok 3 years ago

We are being told by McCain that we will have to "Cap and Trade" our liberty and our pursuit of happiness in the fight against global warming, essentially that if we don't give government more money and power, utopia will never be reached. The differences between McCain and Obama are minimal, when you consider that both believe big government can save you from yourself, and that we can save other nations from themselves as well.
Please support Barr and give liberty a voice in the debates.
CruiseCarter 3 years ago 3
Cap and Trade would be the end to our economy. The cost would of course trickle down to the consumer and create a giant piggybank for our Politicans. US companies would be forced to move operations to other countries just to stay profitable.
The support of Cap and Trade by both Obama and McCain is reason enough to not vote for them and instead vote for Bob Barr.
AD1776 3 years ago 7
I don't disagree with the basic idea of Cap and Trade, I just disagree with its implementation. Since the air we all breathe is a good that we all have to use and share (there's no way to divide it into individual property like most things), I think you should have to pay a certain amount in exchange for degrading the quality of it.
BUT, A. the amount charged should be offset by reduced income taxes
Narrator007 3 years ago
B. if there IS any net increase in revenue caused by the "pollution credit", it should go to the people, NOT the gov't, and C. there should be no built-in increases in cost and decreases in the amount of pollution allowed. Companies and individuals that learn to pollute less over time should be rewarded.
I am undecided on whether companies should be allowed to sell extra credits to other companies, but I certainly prefer that to making other companies pay the government for extra credits.
Narrator007 3 years ago
I am a strong believer in individual rights/responsibilities and the free market, but at the same time, I don't see how it's right to allow person/company A to pollute the air of people B, C, and D without B, C, and D being compensated.
Unfortunately with a product like the atmosphere there really is no way to buy/sell it as individuals. If anybody can figure out a way to, please tell me! I really hate collectivist solutions.
Narrator007 3 years ago
P.S. don't think any of the above means I don't support Bob Barr. I firmly believe he's this country's best chance to regain its former great status, rather than continuing its decline and going the way of the Roman Empire.
Narrator007 3 years ago
What better way to solve a pollution problem? Instead of looking at the constitution people take things right to a federal level, did you know that the state's could handle these matters in a much more efficient manner than the D.C. federal beauracracy? The constitution laid this out in the 9th and 10th amendment! Obama and McCain dive head first into federal solutions instead of preaching state's efficiency. Barr is right, pollution can not be efficienctly done at the national level!

Sounds like McCain's drilling policy is so complicated that he can vote for it knowing no one will ever be able to meet all the requirements to actually drill.
Much the same as building a new refinery. Its not against the law to build a refinery, its just imposable to get past the regulatory nonsense.
Good video.
