Hi there, I remember seeing PG live in Basel (CH) and years later Mexico City (1994?) using those robotic lights singing Mercy Street. That was gorgeous. He was also playing with the laser lights reflecting them torwards the audience via a hand mirror.
I remember that well. Went the night before and again on this night. Believe it or not it wasn't a sellout, had no trouble getting tickets on the door both nights. While Kate's appearance was a huge bonus on the second night (she didn't appear on the previous night) the real highlight of the show for me was mercy street, where PG used robotic lights. Pity there's no video. Even now it should look amazing.
As far as I can tell, no one managed to capture this on video which is a shame. There are stories of a few tapers being busted by the security team. We're very lucky at least one managed to bootleg this.
Peter Gabriel's camp probably videotaped this concert, but that's pure speculation on my part...
Will never forget the first time I heard this song -- was on a train coming back home from college and I had to pause it halfway through and finish it at home because I was tearing up and didn't want to look like a total freak. So beautiful.
very moving performance, Kate does a wonderful job on the vocals, but to tell you the truth, I prefer Paula Cole's performance with Peter on the Us Tour in early nineties. Just an opinion, think Kate is wonderful, but I love Paula's range and her emotion when she sings
wow i'm listening this 2nd hand , through a dodgy mic , omg i bet it was amazing seeing kate , she deffo has a huge following , bet pete was a little p'd off lol
Kate's beauty and her curse is that she doesn't seem realise how she is actually 'Music Royalty'. I would love it so much if she just magically appeared randomly at something like the brit awards or something. I think she would receive full standing ovation!!
A couple of buddies and myself attended this show in 87. I think Peter Gabriel played a few nights at Earls Curt and this was the only show that Kate played on the whole tour. We had amazing luck. Also remember Tony Levin checking out the womad merchandizing with his cycling gear on on as he had just been for a ride around London to warm up for the show.
Well, I had tickets for this event. I sold them to my GF's sister to go on another evening. I asked her if she enjoyed it: "Oh yes, it was great when Kate Bush came on"
Many thanks for sharing that info. Your brother's a very lucky bloke indeed to have witnessed this! Shame there are no photos taken at this performance, let alone a video.

I remember this so well,
I had tickets for a Prince concert which was cancelled and these were offered as a replacement, reluctantly at the time accepted.
The moment when Kate appeared was, is, unforgettable and turned this to one of, if not the best concerts I've ever been to.
Pete was pretty good too!

This has just turned me into a crying wreck
- the song is fantastic and the meaning so poignant for so many
- they both sound fantastic... particularly kate, even when her voice cracks a little bit it still sounds beautiful
- the audience reaction to kate appearing and leavin (and every time she sings haha)
- the fact that Kate rarely performed live
@MsListentothis it really does break your heart that she didn't perform more. *hint* But at least she "made it" and we got to hear her at all :')

This is about as good as as it gets, WOW.
Capturing THIS VERY performance.
And I find it so incredibly COOL that the crowd goes THIS WILD for her, although they've all come to see Gabriel.
Thumbs up to the audience!!!
Ah man, and she goes wild at the end, too...
(Love the band, too, by the way)
THAAAAAAAAANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU !!!
