  • I heard about him flying most of the length of the field inverted. Has anyone else heard of this?

  • What a Plane! .....MADE IN AMERICA...

  • Go to CR1- Software dot com to get yourself a high Quality FORD TRI-MOTOR to Fly in FSX NOW !!

  • Is this the same Harold Johnson who served as mayor of Moraine, OH., flew a Waco in the Snoopy and the Red Baron show at Kings Island, etc?

  • thats why a crash back in those days would kill everyone but the plane was still flyable haha.

  • Thats my Grandpa!

  • That's cool! Your gandfather was clearly a very, very good pilot!

  • can you fly that with only 1 pilot in a 2 pilot cockpit?

  • All Ford 4-AT models are approved for single pilot operations without a type rating (but you clearly have to have a mulit-engine rating). The slightly larger 5-AT models require a special type rating.

  • snap roll FTW!

  • lostAviators likes this video....did not know the tri-motors could handle aerobatics

  • This actually makes a lot of sense. If its stripped down to bare bones you have an over sized stunt plane. Hugely strong wings tons of thrust from 3 engines and huge control surfaces since it has a very low stall speed fully loaded.

  • hgoly shit ! Ford makes best car and plane !

I used trimotor on flight simulator , its rly stable air bus , I think the product shoult nt be discontinued.

  • Great !!!!!!! Love to roll's big planes !!!!

  • I have met Hal Johnson on several occasions. He is the real deal. A good person and a great pilot.

  • That was "King of the tin goose" famous for his airobatic skill in the early 1900's

  • Nice moves! Love this plane :)

  • He crash it! Just Kidding

    Great Pilot indeed

  • Long ago I knew a man named Troy Coback. Mr. Cobock told me he once had an air show and a pilot who stunted a trimotor ford.

Could this be the same airplane?

  • My guess is that this is the ship as I am not aware of anyone else performing this kind of act in a Ford tri-motor.

  • @geherrick It might be done again at Oshkosh.

  • WOW! When I rode in the EEA trimotor I don't remember George Daubner doing any of those stunts.

  • Wow! Son of a..! You can see the wing blending during the loop. And I din't want to do crazy things with this plane in flight simulator because I thought it would be unrealistic!

  • Outstanding!!!!

I would never have guessed a Tri-motor could do those things!

  • Thanks, we are presently rebuilding a Ford Tri-motor now and if all goes well we MAY do the routine again... but perhaps not too many times :)!

  • Wow that's great! Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video!! Got a question, maybe a dumb one, but was Harold Johnson the husband of Amy Johnson, the famed female aviator? Just wondering.

  • Very Nice. Hello Mr.Geherrick, this is Dan the guy with the DC-3. I appreciate your work to preserve these old planes and keep them flying. Dan

  • I don't have the specific date of this film, though it probably was at the 1938 National Air Races. He did perform his routine there.

  • What year was this film shot?
