I'm getting a new SH game, but I can't decide between SH3 and SH4. My system specifications are :

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual-Core QL-62

CPU Speed: 2.0 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.20 GHz

RAM: 2.1 GB

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 32-bit

Video Card: ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics (Video RAM 894 MB)

Can anybody give me suggestions on this? I'm pretty confused...

@Willsonnax get sh4 my laptop is worst than yours and i can run it fine a few hiccups once in a while and careful with the time compression and it may frezze once in a while but besides that tone down the graphics just a bit and your good to go

@Willsonnax I have similar settings to you however I have 6 GB of RAM. So I am able to max out all graphic settings with smooth gameplay, get number 3 if you want to be safe with not playing a slide show game, but number 4 is my favorite of the series.

Hey jef I know this is been a long while since you played this game but here's a tip when calculating your aob the one with the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 ect when you imput your stuff. it is used in your map where you use the angle thingy lol.

The noise is from the collision with the liferaft, because they made them from reinforced concrete or something. Had the same thing happen to me once.

Though I don't know if anything can beat the refresher course you had last video, brutally cut short by a plane crashing into your sub. =P

From what I've noticed, with every delivery mission such as supplies or spies it always makes that noise when launching the lifeboat... not really sure how to prevent it, but I've never tried -that- hard either.

(Evasive manoeuvres port and starboard also dive your ship which is why you found yourself below periscope depth :p)

@martinboy567 Yeah Ubisoft in their wisdom decided that to play Silent Hunter 5 you're required to be constantly connected to their servers just so they can be sure that you don't have a pirated copy, so when the servers are down, you're not connected to the internet, or Ubisoft decide they can't afford to run the DRM servers any more, you can't play the game you bought.

Shame I'd really love to support the series because I enjoy these games but they're not telling me what I can do after I paid

If I remember correctly if you want to identify ships/fire torpedos when you're surfaced and on the deck, hit U and you can use the big binoculars on the front.

Surfacing under a group of aircraft sounds like the best idea ever. If I were the captain of my own submarine, I'd totally want to get the jump on those pricks and mow them down with my AA guns. Escort planes totally carry worthwhile tonnage for a sub to pewpew, right? I wouldn't leave those Japs with anything after what they did to Pearl Harbor! Bunch of bastards...
