  • wanted to let you know that iapreciate th video much, and made a fav of it...i am not a big promoter of instant qick fix surgeries either! people just arent patient enough to take the time to learn natural remedies....people wantwhat they want NOW...and oftentimes (especiall in back surgeries) i only see a less than 5% betterness with their pain when it all comes down to it...Laney Relaxationtherapypro (notyet placed my videos)

  • @RelaxationTherapyPro

I really appreciate your comments! You are so very right. People want to be better now, and want someone else to do it for them. I'm glad to hear from other professionals that deal with these issues too. People need to be patient, consistent and devoted when treating their health issues and to quit being lazy, impatient and wanting others to "fix" them. PM me with some of your videos and website when you get a chance.

  • How much, or at all, should the fingers themselves be bent at their knuckles? I've noticed when starting to do these stretches for my carpal and cubital symptoms (as a result of jumping into rock climbing way to heavy as a new climber) that as a I flex my wrist back my knuckles in my fingers want to bend. Should I allow that or prevent it? I notice a much greater stretching sensation when I do not let them bend.

  • Help me please, my doctor said she said was bone but she never even bothered to touch me;( I play darts a lot and suddenly I started getting a popping at the knobbly bit of my elbow, after 1st doctor visit and a second she has sent me to physio but uk sucks and it is a 16 week wait;( I stopped darts but can barely move arm without pain, the stretches help a bit, please god someone help me, is it dislocated nerve or tunnel syndrome for ulnar.....I am miserable because of this, help, help please

  • @TokyoNinja1467

Sounds like you need an MRI so they can at least get an idea of what you DO or DON'T have. If it is an RSI then come back to this site and I'll knnow how to help you. Good luck!

  • Hey URehab, it's been 6 months since my ulnar neuritis incident, and while the static numbness went away long ago, the past 5 months i'm stuck with a light odd sensation on the tip of the pinky finger. It also goes momentarily numb if I sort of slap my pinky. Do you think it's something to worry about, or is 6 months still possibly not enough for 100% recovery?

    Loving your videos

  • @Excesium

Usually, the longer the injury is present, the longer it takes to get rid of. Continue with the stretches amd exercises and re-evalute in of weeks and we'll go from there. Good Luck!

  • @URehab Will do. It's just that I'm working out (relatively heavy) and I wasn't too sure if that could be keeping it from healing properly.

  • @Excesium

All of the excess lifting can slow your progress down, but that means you just increase your counter-active measures. Do the program 3x daily, 2-days on and 1-day off. This should help stabilze everything. Keep me posted.

  • @URehab Is there any chance stretching the palm too far backwards (with the 1:13 stretch) can irritate the nerve? Basically now that i'm stretching more daily I'm getting some random short numbness throughout the day on the Guyon's canal area and the ball of my pinky. Age is 22 by the way.

  • @Excesium

Overstretching can irritate the heck out of the nerve(s). That is why it only lists a few short stretches. Try stopping them all together for a while and just use FLEXTEND / RESTORE and see how it feels. I rarely do the stretches unless I'm really tight in a certain area. Let me know on Friday or early next week how you are doing with the "exercises only".

  • @URehab unfortunately I haven't found a greek retailer for flextend so I'm working with rubberbands in combination with using my other hand as adjustable counterweight.

  • @Excesium

  • @URehab I'll send them an email and see if they ship to GR. Meanwhile, I wanted to ask you, is there any way I can check myself to know if the issue is still on the cubital tunnel, and not, say, on the wrist, or even the neck? Perhaps the fact it's isolated on the finger and not the whole bottom palm means its not on the neck for example? I actually never had an MRI, just an EMG that supposedly said the issue was on the elbow.

  • @Excesium

Where is most of your pain, stiffness, etc.? Neck, wrist, elbow? Which arm positions bother it the most? What about sleeping posiitions? Facedown with neck turned, etc.? What gives you the most longterm relief?

  • @URehab there is no pain, just a static mild numbness on my pinky (goes properly numb for a second if I forcefully tap the pinky). If i fully extend my elbow in a flared fashion (as if doing a fully flared hands pushup) for a bit then I will get a tinglish sensation in the elbow for a few seconds. Basically the most visible problem is during lockout of the elbow (and/or rotation of the wrist while elbow is locked out), where I feel as if tissues are grinding on each other inside the elbow.

  • @URehab about sleeping positions, I'm always sleeping on the side, tending to curve everything in (waking up at times with my palm completely numb because I slept on it is an often occurence, but lately i've used a pillow to just "park" my hand in there and not let it bend). These are things I could more easily explain on skype and via cam perhaps by the way, if that could help you as well as myself

  • @Excesium if it also helps figure the root of the issue, I spend an awful lot of time on a desk typing on a computer doing university stuff (I used to find myself often with my shoulders and neck curved in and down, but the past months I've had a proper alignment). I do have pads to rest both my wrists on, but I don't think that's enough is it.

  • @Excesium

I can't remember what we had discussed as to whether the wrist seemed more stiff or the elbow did. I just sent you the Guyon's Exercise program as well but give me your answer before you switch your program as of yet.

  • Correction, I think I should have said wide rubber band, it covered more surface area and did not tend to roll down to the palm as easily as a thin band.

  • @xskyking1

I'm glad it worked well enough to help. Using a wider band is better than a thinner band, just for the reason you stated as it rolls down to the wrist when you open the hand, therefore eliminating the appropriate amount of resistance necessary to correct the imbalance. I would just have to say that the Flextend glove offers consistent resistance from any and every angle, the reason I recommend its use. But if this worked for you then great!

  • Thanks for this fantastic video. I'm a hobby guitarist and the ring finger and little finger started tingling and feeling a little weak. I followed your instructions and within 3 to 4 days almost all of the symptoms improved dramatically. However I did not use the glove since I'm low on cash now. I used a thick rubber band. Would the glove be much better to use?

    Thanks!!!

  • @URehab After the op I noticed I had gotten some strength back, I could do my jeans up, hold a mug of coffee, didnt get a horrid sensation when washing my hands / rubbing then together.. But after a couple of weeks it started to get bad again..only this time I have burning sensation and odd pains in my fingers/arm/elbow.. I hope these exersises help sort it out once and for all.. I had the op at a private hopsital, and I dont think I will be able to have one there again if I need another one..

  • @oobbydoo

Did you tell your doctor this during your post-op visit? What was the explanation?

  • @URehab No, I havent had one yet :S I have spoken to a Dr though.. I was told "It should sort itself out, these things take time "..lol

  • @oobbydoo

I don't like that explanation. Did you do any post-op rehabilitation with a PT? Normal recommendatios is usually 2-3x week for up to 12-weeks.

  • @URehab No, I was not given any exersices, no physio nothing, I was taken back to my bed after surgery and woken up just outside the theatre, taken back to bed for some food followed by a drink, and then about 30 minutes later I was told I could get dressed..which I did, then I asked if I could go outiside for a smoke they said no, but one nurse said ok +I looked well enough to go outside and 'try' to smoke, she just said sit down if I start to feel faint and stop smoking..

  • @oobbydoo and while I was finishing my smoke my lift arrived and I was disscharged with a pack contaning a box of paracetamol, a box of codine phosphate, a bandage, some fresh dressings ..I didn't see the surgeon or a dr after waking...well if I did I certainly dont remember it..

  • @URehab Thank you so much for this, I had surgery a short while ago [8/12/11] and I wasn't given any exercises to do.. I am not sure which operation I had [I have about a 4 inch scar] and I think I was in surgery for an hour and a half [ish].. I had been waiting over 2 years for my op, and had no feeling in my fingers half my hand and the underside of my arm up to my elbow.. My hand was totally useless, I had no strength and found it difficult to do many everyday things...

  • Hi, is there any way of treating cubital tunnel syndrome without flextend? I can't get it as I am a strict vegetarian and it's made of leather. I've got permanant numbness in little finger and intermittent pain in elbow since symptoms started about 2 weeks after I helped to move a piano from one address to another on oct 1st. Dr just said to rest it and keep taking ibuprofen, saw a pysiotherapist who hadnt even heard of it and pulled my arm in different positions which didnt hurt at the

  • time but was in agony the next day, and now a week later i still have a bad shoulder too so havent done the exercise he showed me in case it made it worse or caused nerve damage (if it's not too late already) as he didnt seem to know what he was doing. I cant have surgery as I play guitar so it's too risky. I'm getting extremely worried thats it's never gonna go and I'm never gonna be able to play guitar again.

  • @gothMCMLXXVIII

Did you try the cubital tunnel stretch? Try using some Theraband and wrap it around your fingers and see if you can get it to somewhat mimic the Flextend exercises. You should be able to get some of the motion. Tyr it and let me know how you are doing.

  • I want to buy you a basket of muffins. I'm 57 y.o. carpenter and thought I was finished but you give me hope.

  • @TheBasspros

Sounds good, I'll take them!. Keep up the program and stay healthy.

  • Thanks

  • Sorry - dorsal ganglion on right wrist.

  • @Suvi928

So are you looking into the removal of the cyst?

  • Hi, I have been experiencing pain predominantly in my right hand due to ulnar nerve entrapment (which has been diagnosed through Nerve Conduction Studies test). However, I initially began my injury through a dorsal ganglion which appeared on my right hand. This has now subsided to 4mm. Do you still recommend these exercises?

Also, where do i order the flexhand from? I live in Australia.

    Thanks

  • @Suvi928

If there is a cyst, then it is taking up room in the wrist, thus causing increased compression of all surrounding tissues. Hasn't your doctor recommended removing the capsule so it does not re-fill with fluid and then see how you feel and go from there? Painreliever (.com) ships international.

  • Is the first exercise supposed to relieve the numbness? When I do it I can really feel the nerve stretching in my elbow (and big electricity feeling in my little and ring finger), but how can this be helpful? I thought compressing the nerve is bad...

  • @tashows I mean the first stretch exercise...

  • @tashows

The nerve is trapped under the muscle along the posterior and medial side of the elbow. You are stretching the muscle, and where the muscle has entrapped the nerve. As the muscle relaxes, the nerve segment releases and the symptoms reduce. You just have to stretch in a reasonable manner, not doing it as hard as you can or until you experience serious symptoms, pain, etc. As you ease into this stretch over the next few weeks, you will be able to do it with more effort and effect.

  • @URehab Ok, thanks! :)

  • Hi! I smashed my arm in between the lift and the doorway. It's been 2 months. I have done what you said to do in the video.i can us my arm and hand now. If i us it to drive at work and push an pull the weelchairs it gets swollen it has a constint burn. How long dose it take for the burnning feeling and the sharp pains to go away?

  • @mb7a4fmlg

Well you need to be sure to have it looked at by a physician in order to eliminate a more serious problem that may have developed due to the "crushing" of your arm. If there is no nerve damage, then performing stretches and exercises should help significantly. You just need to know when too much is "too much". One key to reduce stress on the elbow is to not too reach too far back when using the wheelchair as this puts more pressure and stress on the inside of the elbow joint.

  • @URehab Thank u so much!

  • Is there a way to do the exercises without the flextend?

  • @dcwolf1980

You should already have the program listed out week by week if you are using Flextend. If you need it so you can see the x per day and x per week, then PM and I will send you the program.

  • OMG... I think the 1st exercise you show in this vid decreased my numbness a lot... wow...... is this possible???????????

  • @realbeetlejuice

I had just answered you on another post telling you to look at this video, but you already did. Great, I'm glad you found it! These programs work very well to correct muscle imbalances and relieve pressure on compressed nerves. Good luck!

  • wow. this guy is a genius

  • Since i have the 2005 DVD it does npot seem to indicate which exercises to do specifically for Ulnar entrament - so, I assume the 6 exercises & 2 stretches that you demonstarte on this YouTube video - My tightness is still very bad - been 8 weeks since the condition began - Thanks again

  • @HotBrassFish

Yes, it's on there, but it is called Medial Elbow / Backside. Weird, I know, but that is what they called it to differentiate it apparently from the Medial Elbow / Inside (Golfer's Elbow).

  • I have to go to physio to treat this problem (I have it in both hands/wrists) and have found this very helpful to give me an insite as to the exercises I may well be doing.. Thanks.

  • @KatherineGeorge1

Good luck with therapy. Be sure to avoid gripping / squeezing exercises as these will exacerbate the problem and increase symptom levels.

  • @URehab wow... WOW. maybe thats why my cubital tunnel syndrome came right back after a heavy deadlift session (only in the finger tips lightly though, not as numb as it was before) !

  • Only perform the Elbow/Medial Posterior program or Cubital Tunnel Program, depending on which version of the CD you received. Either way, only perform one routine exactly as it is listed week-by-week. I'm thinking about the online consultations but have not made up my mind yet, but will let you know when I do. 99% of people are fine on their own. Have you been performing the exercises with and without the glove or with the glove only the entire time? PM me as it will make conversation easier.

  • Watched FlexTend dvd - do i need 2 do all the exercises or r specific ones just 4 ulnar entrapment - if yes, which? - pain began 8-25 - still have swelling/numbness in little & ring fingers - had some pt & chiro, had FlexTend glove for a 2-3 wks - been doing exercises from utube video 2 x's/day for the past few weeks (traveling, so missed some days) - should I currently be doing the 4-8 week program, re; reps/sets? It might be helpful for me to pay you for a skype video training session

  • Thanks for the additional info - so - how many times a day should a person do the stretches & exercises for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome relief? - Thanks!

  • @HotBrassFish

The exact sequence of exercises, sets, reps, etc. comes with the product. In cases that are not too severe, you can forgo the stretches and just use Flextend as it performs the necessary stretches and exercises simultaneously. PM me and I will give you the program.

  • @URehab

I bought the Flextend Glove - guess I better look at the DVD that came with it! Sorry! Thanks again!

  • Found out the FlexTend Glove is the only good glove - the other - reset Glove - was sued by them - FlexTend Glove - patent infringement - How many times/day should I do the Cubital exercises & stretches?Found out I have some nerve atrophy from a nerve study - even though a very sudden onset with no prior trama - told it is a bit unusual ... hoping the exercises, etc., will allow me to avoid surger!

  • @HotBrassFish

Your information is correct. The thing to remember is that you stretch BEFORE you do your Flextend exercises. So if you exercise 2x daily, you would perfomr the stretches and then immediately follow-up with the Flextend exercises. Sometimes people get fanatical about stretching and the more they stretch, the more they feel they NEED to stretch. Don't get into this habit. But if you HAVE to stretch follow with 2-3 sets of Palm Up Ex.

  • Thank you so much for this video! I spent all morning googling the reason my 2 fingers were numb. I did the stretches and started to feel the tingling and numbness slowly went away! Thanks again!

  • @bellenissa

Great, I'm glad you experienced relief so quickly!

  • @URehab - I have swelling & numbness in my little & ring fnger accompanying the ulna compression - "normal" for this condition? trying to avoid 'reccommended" surgery - should I assume a minimum of 2-4 months to "recover with massage & exercises?

  • @smiles1130

You should be able to reduce the compression within 12-weeks using Flextend. It's all about what stretches you do, how you perform the exercises, etc.

  • @bellenissa

I'm glad the stretches helped! Good luck and keep it up!

  • September 6 2011 - Can u advise if the "Reset Glove" is as goos as the "flexTend Glove" - Reset is by SPRIProducts - 1 size only - Thanks!

  • @HotBrassFish

You need to be sure that you have a custom fit, so a one-size-fits-all will not work as well.

  • Hey URehan, I sent you a pm a few days ago, got an update:

Doctor suggested I started medrol and celebrex for 2 weeks to treat my ulnar neuritis. I asked him if I should do stretches and he only suggested complete rest for 2 weeks. I'm not sure if the way he suggests is the optional one :/

  • @Excesium

I can only say that I prefer conservative therapy over invasive treatments and medication...but, try the doctor’s method since it is reasonably non-invasive; and then follow it with the therapeutic exercises. Good luck!

  • @URehab Will do. Do you think that having the elbow touch the desk while working on the computer could cause neuritis on its own, considering I'm on the computer several hours/day, or should I be looking atbad workout form? I've stopped doing that, since even touching the elbow actually pinches my left hand nerve at the moment, but I'm curious as to the exact cause. Also, would I be asking too much if I sent you a copy of my electromyography so you can estimate the nerve damage to a certain extent?

  • You need to have resistance that runs up the arm as you are exercising the muscles using a number of motions and angles. There are exercise programs for other disorders but each has a variety of exercises performed in a specific sequence. I would have to see what you are doing to know whether it would work well or not.

  • Will this workout work well with a 1 lb. hand weight that pulls on over fingers and rests on back of hand and straps on around wrist.? Will this work with a hair band or thick rubber band around fingers for resistance? Also will the program help with other possible nerves or tendons associated with elbow and/or fingers? Or loose nerve or joint? Thanx

  • If the joint is structurally corrected through the surgery, I'm not sure why the nerve would need to be relocated.

  • how do you feel about the nerve transport in combination with UCL reconstruction? I need the UCLR, not to thrilled about him moving the nerve though

  • Hi, I am scheduled for Ulnar Neve Release operation, on the left arm, at the end of next month. I have burning pain in the hand, wrist and forearm, unfortunately on both arms.

I've been doing the excersices suggested in this video for almost three weeks and although I can feel how the muscles are working, I still don't feel any noticeable improvement.

Do you think is there something else going on in my arms? I started to feel all this pain 15 months ago, while using the computer mouse.

  • @SuperSnoopy15

It takes longer than 3-weeks to correct this issue. Also, what are you using as your form of resistance?

  • @URehab Thanks for your reply.

I agree, If the problem has been developing for months (or years) it is naive to expect it to disappear in a few days/weeks but at least I would expected to notice a difference.

Not sure about the form of resistance question but I do 20 series of the 5 excersices of your video + streching.

Finally yesterday I did not mention that I also quit mountain biking for the time being (comments section is too short), I read that also could be a cause for my problems.

  • @SuperSnoopy15

If you are a male and you are 3-weeks into the progrma using Flextend, you will need to add a second ressitance band as there is no way that one band would provide enough resistance at this level of the program. Use one band in the top level of rings and one band in the bottom level of rings. This should help correct the imbalance faster.

  • The sleeping position is a huge factor in this disorder and others. 1.) Make sure that the up-side arm is resting on pillows in front of you equal to the height of your shoulder so the hand/arm rests flat on the pillow, straight across from you, not folded across your body on the bed. 2) Be sure that the down-side hand is not higher than face-level and that it is resting flat between two pillows or between the mattress and pillow. It takes a week or two to get used to but it helps a lot.

  • I believe this is what I have. I sleep with my elbows very tightly bent with fists criss-crossed. I cannot stop this sleeping position, however the numbness in my hands wakes me during the night. Is there something I can do to change my sleeping habits? I have noticed that the numbness changes from the little and ring fingers on the side toward the ceiling and the thumb, index and middle fingers on the down, toward the bed side. This changes if I change from right to left side lying.

  • Did they mention if excessive scarring from the surgery could be causing the impingement of the nerve?

  • Hi. I was very suprised to find your PT videos for CTS since the only treatment options offered to me by my surgeon were either surgery or rest. I chose rest and quit PT, (for ROM due to the break itself), and have abstained from sports/physiacal activities. 11 months have past since the bicycle accident when I broke my radial head/neck neck with little improvement. I have positive EMG and MRI. Do you think there is any chance of recovery via PT?

  • great video, thanks!

  • Hi. I was wondering if this would be effective on my arm; however, I have been suffering with CuTS for over 2 years. I lost my insurance after a layoff in my school and have had a lot of pain because I completed a degree online. I believe I have entrapment in my wrist at the canyon and definitely my elbow. I've also recently started experiencing significant pain related to carpel tunnel. Do you have a recommendation for me? I'm in a lot of pain and can't use my hand for more than 5 minutes.

  • @TkBrina

Some of these "Comments" section posts are not being listed as new on the page so I am just now finding them, so I apologize for this late reply. Take a look at the Carpal Tunnel Videos listed under URehab on YouTube as they should be a big help to you!

  • I had my radius replaced about 11 years ago. I was diagnosed with mild Cubicle Tunnel syndrome today, the doctor wants to do surgery. I am doing your exercises . My question is how many times a day you need to do the exercises and on the average how many weeks/months before expecting any improvements.?

    Thanks for your comments

  • Exercising the injured area when it is inflamed is never a good idea. The important thing would be to find out WHY it is inflamed so the problem can be corrected at the source of dysfunction. You may want to gently try the stretch and see how it feels.

  • I have had a problem with my right elbow for 2 months. Physio told me I had golfers elbow and gave me accupuncture sessions, but when I told PT I had numb ring and little fingers in the morning after waking, she suggested that I see my doctor for surgery. After discovering this clip 3 weeks ago, I have had quick relief in my elbow, it is 99% better, only a little tenderness compared to my other arm,I will keep up with the treatment programme until I am pain free, thank you very much for this.

  • @pauly71

Once again, another YouTube post that did not make it into the "Comments" section, so I apologize for the late reply. I wish YouTube would fix some of their system glitches. I am glad you are doing well, keep up the program and keep us posted as to how you are doing!

  • i had a motorbike crash about a month ago, and i shattered my elbow which needed surgery .... this CTS thing started to happen as soon as i got my cast off, but thanks for the boost :) good to know that i dont need more surgery !

  • @jadobadez

It's not surprising as the structure has not only been compromised, but has atrophied significantly. Let me know if you run into any issues once you've started the program. Be sure to ease into the stretch / exercise routine.

  • Thank you. You give me hope. I have had this for condition for about a week, and most of my research on the internet point towards surgery. You are the only one so far who says that this can be fixed with exercises.

  • @fleur257

Only rotate far enough to where it does not pop. The range of motion should increase over time (without popping) as you continue the exercises. Technically you have to eliminate Carpal Tunnel first as the Palm-Down exercise is contraindicated in the Carpal Tunnel program. (At least get rid of it enough so you can do the Palm-Down exercise without irritating the Median nerve.) Contact me via PM if you have additional questions. And of course, read the manual first. Good Luck!

  • @URehab Thank you for this video. What manual are you talking about?

  • When I am doing the supination exercise, and I turn my wrist to the upward position, my elbow pops each time. There is no pain involved. Is this ok?

Also, I have issues with cubital and carpal. Should I be doing the regimen for both?

  • I first bought the flextend in about 2000. I used it them to help with a minor issue in my left hand. I then stopped using it because it worked. Years later, ca. 2009, I got CuTS. I had the surgery, but I use the flextend to make my hand feel 100%. I also use it on my right arm because from time to time I get minor sympoms there too. It feels great and really helps. Just finished doing the exercises and stretches before I wrote this.

  • @skimbro2

Thanks for the post as people like, and need, to hear about personal experiences that give them hope that they too can get better. I'm sorry to hear that you had to have the surgery, but keep up the exercises and stay healthy!

  • So helpful for me, just found it. I have had surgery on my left arm but doctors dont' recommend it for my right arm (yet...), and it's been killing me. Hopefully these help out a lot, thanks!

  • @twocementshoes

I too hope that you can avoid invasive treatments by utilizing these stretches and exercises! They've worked for thousands of others, so I'm sure they will work for you too!

  • I am a RN and I fell on my elbow some months ago... it's been hurting since... I started practicing with these exercises the one where you flex the wrist and rotate it in .. IS AWESOME for me I immediately got a small about of relief just from that one small step! I am going to be practicing these. Thank you so much

  • @mihollow

    Your are welcome!

  • @nunchakuka69

PM me so I can answer you privately, as there is not enough room here to discuss anything.

  • @nunchakuka69

Don't wait for it to become much worse because if it is left too long without being corrected it could lead to surgery and/or long-term nerve damage. Try the stretches and exercises for a month and see how you feel. In my experience, the correction rate for muscle imbalances that result in the development of cubital tunnel syndrome is about 90% effective. That is really good!...and better yet, non-invasive. Remember too that it is always important to get a second opinion.

  • You are the man!! I get this alot during sleep. Thanks for your help!

  • @jasonfish07

You are welcome, glad I could help!

  • Let me start off by saying THANKYOU...I was getting ready to schedule Doctor's appointment when I started searching around the internet to figure what my problem was. Once I figured out it was Cubital Tunnel Syndrome and then found your video I followed your stretches only so far and my pain has subsided by about 80%...Thank you so much... Can you please tell me where can I find the exercise glove you have in your video? Thanks again...

  • @harley1x

Great, I'm glad the stretch helped! The best places I have found are Bannertherapy, Enablemart, Painreliever and Flextend. These are all .com's. Or you can do a Google search and see what you come up with. Good luck!

  • @nunchakuka69

It depends on the severity of injury, but most cases can be corrected by performing the appropriate stretches and exercises for a particular disorder. The anti-inflammatory medication helped as it reduced the inflammation, but once it wore off the results of the muscle imbalance showed up again. Correcting the muscle imbalance reduces compression; reducing compression reduces friction, which in turn reduces inflammation and swelling and the perpetual cycle of dysfunction.

  • Thank you very much for this video. I m trying to avoid surgery for a year now, but i don't think i'll manage to do that for ever. It's tough to take good care of it every day. Thanks again

  • @arikat1

I understand where you are coming from but the reality is that the results from invasive procedures usually don't last, and symptoms often return within a couple of years. And of course there are many instances of the development of other disorders as a result from utilizing invasive procedures. The stretches and exercises are non-invasive and only take 10-15 minutes a day. Whatever you choose to do for therapy, I wish you the best in your recovery!

  • @URehab Thanks. I also believe that cutting two muscles in order to move the nerve is not the smartest way to go. I'll order this glove and give it a shot

  • I injured my nerve by leaning on it at work in late Dec. Hand was swollen & pinky was numb constantly since and was very painful between fingers. Went to neuro and he said I had moderate ulnar neuropathy..would need surgery. I had an elbow brace but did nothing else.I saw this video 3 weeks ago and woke up. I started doing these stretches everyday and just got the flextend a few days ago and been using it. .The numbness and pain has subsided and I am back to normal activities! Thanks for this!

  • @dcerone80

I'm glad that you are experiencing relief! I know it seems strange that a few simple stretches and exercises could help reduce symptoms to such a great extent, but once you think about the concept, it just makes sense...and better yet, it works. So even if someone doesn’t understand the why and how it helps, who cares as long as it gets better without having to be subject to invasive treatments.

  • @URehab I realized the trick was to really keep the elbow active, doing stretches, some aerobic exercise, and by doing light weights again. I found the numbness and pain was unbearable when I focused on it and kept the elbow straight all day at work. My issue was due to poor sitting habits for most of the day so I removed my armrests on my chair, changed my desk position and stopped slouching. Can't believe I wasted 45 days dealing with docs who provided no advice like this video did..

  • These are some fantastic exercises. They have helped me tremendously. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • @nlong92

I'm glad they helped you! If you are looking for help for a particular injury and I have not addressed it, please feel free to ask me for more information.

  • Thanks for the quick response. I am getting a second opinion from a neurosurgeon next week. No one has mentioned the possibility of TOC so far, but my symptoms do sound much like neurological TOC. or some other nerve compression, especially since the pain began after i hit my head walking out of an overhang, causing my neck to crack severely down the length of it. One other thing. I tried your ulner stretches yesterday and today my fingers are more numb than before. Maybe I just over-did it

  • @leosvidiohs

It's good that you are getting a second opinion! Full hand numbness can certainly be cervical as well. Physicians need to listen to the "events" leading up to the symptoms, not just the fact that they have symptoms. The Cubital Tunnel stretch only works if the compression of the nerve is at the elbow junction. Good luck, I hope they pinpoint the source of the issue.

  • I’ve been diagnosed with severe cubital and carpal tunnel in both arms/hands. It was diagnosed via a nerve conduction (EMG) test as well as other tests at Klienert and Kutz. Just 3 months since it all began and there is already visible atrophy in several areas of both hands. Because of the quick progress of atrophy, Doctors this week rushed to schedule me for cubital and carpal tunnel surgery in two weeks. I would prefer not to undergo surgery if there is salvation here. What do you think

  • @leosvidiohs

It's tough to say. If you already have visible atrophy in the hands, surgery might be your only choice. Since both of your hands are basically numb, did they check to see if it was Thoracic Outlet Syndrome instead of Carpal Tunnel and Cubital tunnel? Thoracic Outlet would affect all of your fingers simultaneously and the chances of having Cubital Tunnel and Carpal Tunnel simultaneously are rather slim. I’d get a second opinion if I were in your shoes.

  • I'm really glad that you think like me re: surgery/moving the Ulnar nerve...The doctors are way too scalpel-happy, our bodies it seems to me, have the capability of healing themselves! This is a very well-put together video - thanks for the clear presentation of excercises and explanations.

  • @bhinderbinder

Thank you, I appreciate your input and the compliment!

  • Hello, I have CTS for about 5 weeks now, it just started with tingling little and ring fingers, then a week after my elbow realy started swelling as well, so i could not bend my arm more than 90 degrees. Probably it started because of too much computer use and flat desk, since i dont remember hitting it to anywhere. i got anti-inflamatory, but the swelling just gets bigger and pain comes in my hand. Does this training help if the elbow area is inflamedet and just keep swelling? Thanks

  • @dzsmtube

It is best to do the stretches and exercises once the visible swelling has diminished.

  • Thanks for responding. My friend has just had physical therapy, he's trying to prevent any surgery. Unfortunately, he let this problem worsen over a period of 6 years before he finally decided to be proactive about it. From research I've done, all indicators point to severe nerve damage and surgery might be the only hope. His physical therapy may help reduce some inflammation, but he continues with the pain. Thanks in advance again.

  • @Robertgmz5

PM me and tell me the exercises that the therapist is having your friend perform. I can at least tell you which ones will help and which ones will make it worse. In some cases, surgery is the final solution for any hope of recovery.

  • Hello, would you have any suggestions for individuals with this condition post atrophy. I have a friend that I would like to help. He has little to no musculature in his bicep and tricep due to his severe case of cubital tunnel syndrome along with golfer's elbow. Physical therapy has helped in reducing some inflammation, but he still has pain along with poor muscle movement and control. Appreciate your help in advance.

  • @Robertgmz5

Have they had surgery or just physical therapy? The key to rehabilitation is that the "appropriate" stretches and exercises are performed. Often times, therapists are having the client perform stretches and exercises that exacerbate the condition they are attempting to treat.

  • Thanks, I've been doing these exercises for two months after having developed cubital tunnel syndrome from leaning over a desk for most of my life. It is now much better. I think the trick with the stretches is, as you say, to really feel the nerve being stretched, this may involve pushing the upper arm in a certain directions (like, as you say, forwards on the first stretch) to really feel it. Many thanks again for the brilliant video.

  • @rorydonaldson

I'm glad I could help and am happy that you are feeling better!

  • @URehab Hey man, first of all - great vid! Secondly, is there any danger for me to continue weightlifting and boxing while suffering from N. Ularis entrapment?

  • @Gardash111

If it hurts to do a particular motion, either only move the range-of-motion (ROM) that does not hurt, or quit performing that motion altogether until your symptoms have subsided. I've experienced a variety of injuries and so I tend to either avoid an exercise that hurts, or alter the motion enough to where it does not bother me to perform. If you keep doing things that hurt, you just continue to irritate the soft-tissues and affected nerve and you won’t get better.

  • Hi. Can you please tell me if this exercises would help me if I'm suffering of the Ulnar Nerve Entrapment ?? I've been experiencing symptoms for nearly 3 months. I don't feel pain, just numbness in my pinky and half of the ring finger. I can't feel them, specially the pinky finger. Doctor sent me heat/cold therapy and many many pills that I already finished them but nothing worked. I haven't tried any exercise yet. Are this recommended to recover the feeling in my fingers? Thks A LOT for answer

  • @MrVergajito

Try the stretches and exercises for a couple of weeks and see how your feel. If you notice some improvement, even if it is just a little, continue with the program as you are on the right track.

  • I'm so glad I stumbled across this today! For a long time now I've been getting sick of the conversation: "Oh, you must have carpal tunnel syndrome" Me: "No, I don't, it's the wrong symptoms. I've looked it up." them: "Well, what else could it be, then?" Me:"...Some other aggravated nerve! I don't know which one!" Now I can say what it is.

  • @Tsatsayka Well, or it's the Guyon's canal, but either way, I know more than I did, so It's good.

  • @Tsatsayka

Yes, it is possible because of referral pain, but in these conditions you will have site-specific pain along with the possibility of referral pain either up or down the nerve pathway. In most cases a person would experience some level of discomfort in the wrist if they had Guyon’s Syndrome. A person may also suffer from Double Crush where the nerve is compressed at two locations but the individual will only notice the most significant area of pain, and not the one with less pain.

  • Thank you for generosity in sharing this!

I have been training a lot for rock climbing - a lot of pull-ups and "lock-offs" (holding your weight on a bent arm to make a reach with the other).

I noticed a flicking/clicking in my elbow when doing push ups and now there is tenderness in my elbow - from looking online I think it's the ulnar nerve.

I will put the stretches into practice, starting now. Are there any exercises I can do without a product, please?

    All the best, Charlie

  • @charliewoodsman

You can try to mimic the exercises using rubber bands, etc., but it just isn't the same. The problem is that you want to strengthen the finger extensors and abductors as well as the wrist extensors but the exercises have to utilize pure extension only, without gripping, and all other methods of strengthening these muscles involve gripping of dumbbells / barbells to perform reverse wrist curls, etc. Go to facebook . com/flextend-restore and try and win the free Flextend.

  • @URehab

Thanks again. The stretches feel good already.

  • @charliewoodsman

I'm glad the stretches feel good...now let's hope you win the glove!

  • ahh my palm is not getting better after 4 months. damn...i am so screwed. left hand where the numbness is all cold little blood circulation and muscles are starting to die. i guess i will have to go do surgery unfortunately...

  • @Myoldnamesdontwork

Were you just doing the stretches, or were you doing the exercises as well? Is your hypothenar eminence (Chunk of muscle at base of pinky side of hand/wrist) atrophying? If your injury is that far along, you need to do what is best to correct it, and in some cases, surgery may be required. That's too bad...but remember, post-surgery rehabilitation is just as critical and you will want to follow the same Cubital Tunnel program. Don't be doing any gripping exercises!

  • @URehab no the muscles are not reducing in size yet. but it is starting to because it is starting to get stiff and pale. i do the exercises too but not everyday. i do it almost like four times a week or so because i can feel pain not at the elbow but at an arm muscle (wiki says its called: between palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis) which explains why my index/mid fingers cant spread while thumbs works fine so weird. so i am facing 2 damages on possibly 2 diff locations?

  • @Myoldnamesdontwork

What are you doing the exercises with? Also, the program calls for exercises 2x daily 3-6 days per week, depending on which week of the program you are on. Send me a private message and list all of your symptoms and which fingers are affected.

  • Thanks a lot for this video. For the past year my elbows hurt from leaning over a desk. Big deal, I thought. But just recently, my whole arm has started tingling and it got me worried. I will do your exercises faithfully twice a day and report back in a month like Patriot2572 did. One question: there's no question my ulnar nerve compression comes from leaning over a desk (not from holding anything tightly or anything like that), are all of these exercises still appropriate? Thanks again. R

  • @rorydonaldson

Try the stretches for a month and see how you are doing. The problem is that the compression from leaning on a desk "helped" contribute to the onset of Cubital Tunnel, but often times, it is a combination of things that result in a muscle imbalance caused by hypertonic finger, wrist and elbow flexor muscles and ulnar deviators of the wrist. So just see what happens. If you don't get better than I suggest doing the exercises as well. Also, put a soft towel under your elbow!

  • For about 3 months now, I have had Ulnar Nerve pain. It hurts like hell when i lean on my desk at school, or any hard surface, and theres not much I can do about it as i'm there for almost 8 hours everyday. I have no pain or numbness in my fingers/hand. It does not bug me when I play baseball or workout, but some things like brushing my teeth, raking, and washing a car hurt it. What do you suggest I do?

  • @thehomerunhitter95

It is best to address it now before you experience the onset of Cubital tunnel. What you are feeling now is the "warning" that things can become much worse. Try the stretches and exercises in the Cubital tunnel program for a week or so and then contact me privately and report any changes in sensation or symptoms. Also, when resting your elbow on a hard surface, you need to place a folded towel beneath the elbow joint to reduce pressure on the muscles / ulnar nerve.

  • @URehab Hi nice video!!!(I subscribed) I have a questiion.. My moms right shoulder joint is in pain everyday & sometimes it's just the muscle around the shoulder that hurts!!

do you have an idea of what it could be??

also her doctor gives her tylenol but I don't want her taking that stuff forever!!

  • @Thet3

Send me a private message as often there is not enough room to discuss on the board. Where is the pain specifically (What part of the shoulder)? What motions seem to bother it most?

  • Thank you, your support is much appreciated. I'm glad I could assist in helping you eliminate the symptoms of cubital tunnel as it is a miserable condition to have! Be sure to follow a maintenance program to keep the symptoms at bay.

If you have a moment, maybe you could post your comment on BSI's facebook page as I'm sure they would appreciate it: facebook . com/flextend.restore

Also be sure to become a facebook fan in order to be entered into BSI's monthly drawing for free stuff!

  • I commented on this video a month ago saying i was going to try the exercises, i got the flex-tend glove and started doing them daily. I am glad to say that after a month of doing the exercises routinely, my symptoms are COMPLETELY gone, and i'm 100% or close to 100%.

Thank you so much for this video, I can't tell you how much it helped me out. If you didn't make this video I would have had unnecessary surgery (a hand specialist said i'd need it). You are a great person, godbless you URehab.

  • this is cool

  • @saskaluczak

Thanks, I'm glad you like the videos!

  • Hi URehab. Fantastic videos. I am in the unenviable position of having issues with both arms. I almost certainly have ulnar nerve entrapment on my left side at the elbow (have been performing stretches, thank you. How many times per day?). On my right side I have acute sharp pain in the elbow when performing certain everyday tasks - a good example is extending my arm and gripping the outside of a cup and lifting. I wonder if you have any idea what this is likely to be? Thank you so much.

  • @19mumsie46

Thanks for the feedback. Performing the stretches a couple of times per day are fine, but you want to follow it up with the exercises shown in the video to be sure the stretches maintain their length and "hold". The manner in which the symptoms are described sound like Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitiis). Does it hurt to squeeze and shake a persons’ hand?

  • @URehab Thank you for your quick reply. I had looked at some of your other videos and it does seem most like tennis elbow. Shaking and squeezing hands is very uncomfortable. As I say, I notice most acute pain when lifting a cup or mug (I tend to spread my fingers and grip the rim of the cup rather than the handle). If my elbow is bent this is not too uncomfortable, but with a straight arm it's excruciating. Again, thank you for your help and advice.
