  • Also if your just getting into weddings, how does one work the cost/price out?. Cause you say you work it out on if you had something else on and what the lost costs would be etc... However if we're just getting into it, working out a fixed price or per the hour would be good for you to also go over.

  • Hi Matt, I hear that inside lighting can be a problem, especially in a church where the priest says no flash etc.. can you go through your settings on church shooting and so on for different places, colours to take into account.

  • @1stBEASTMASTER Hi buddy, thanks for all the comments on this series. I will think about all your suggestions for future parts in the series - for sure. This comment above makes me think you have not shot a wedding yet? I strongly suggest you shadow someone, shoot some for free, and decide if you really like it - it is NOT for everyone, and that should be step one - rather than worrying about gear and pricing.

  • LOve this video.. im shooting my first wedding in a month and this helped my nerves alot.. but i seen u have a bounce flash, did u use the flash often? i always thought try not to use flash unless absolutely necessary... I noticed as well u were on continous shooting, it snapped more than once per shot... is that a good idea to do that for a wedding that way u always capture the moment!

  • @kittykatt4u i use flash a lot. Are you the only photographer? I don't suggest you do your first wedding solo.

  • wow..i like this video... any tips for wedding?

  • @fahmi1255 haha - the whole series is wedding tips - watch them! :)

  • I was just asked to shoot the upcoming wedding of a friend. I normally do long exposure landscape or candid photography, so I thought I'd check out Youtube vids to see the type of shots people look for with weddings and what to expect on the day. I was enjoying watching your tutorial and suddenly realised the shoot actually took place in my hometown! (Cowra). I recognised the golf club and The Mill immediately. Of all the vids on Youtube I could have watched, and I picked this one! haha! :)

  • @xlr8v8 cool! Well the candid background should come in handy. I strongly suggest you do site visits and practice - as you won't have time for trial and error on the night. It is not the situation you want to learn from your errors.

  • Great to see the process. I've done 5-6 weddings to date and am now really getting a flow and knowing what are the must have shots to get and how you set yourself up to achieve them.

  • @10:40 i thought your shirt was going to get on fire from the candle

  • how much you charge the whole wedding shoot?? i love your videos... thanks a lot..

  • @odnanref1100 thanks mate - are you asking as you want to see about me shooting your wedding, or you are doing research to set your own price? What you charge depends on the services you offer, time involved and your reputation - you cannot just copy and paste someone elses pricing structure.

  • @thatnikonguy thanks for answering,, just asking how much it cost to shoot a wedding, i may shoot wedding along the way but now im just trying to figure out all things must do and do not do, so i follow your videos and i found it helpful and interesting to watch..

  • This was so helpful!! I am shooting a wedding next month and it is my very first wedding. Although it is somewhat low-key, mostly family coming, I am soo nervous. I am just starting out into photography, i took a class last semester which was very informative. I am really nervous about where to stand and not capturing everything.. as well as having blurry pictures or too noisy pictures. This video was just what i needed! thanks.. Any tips?

  • @LostFoundAndLove hi, glad to hear that.

Look, dont stress about it. YOu are there doing a job - stand in front of people if necessary - within reason. Take your time, check your shots as you go. Make sure you have settings right before you arrive, and know your gear. Make sure all is charged and cards formatted, and spares of everything.

    Good luck.

  • What's up with the sepia?

  • Do you recommend to use camera brackets for the flash?

  • @ErwinListSanchez I have never used them, no. But the are very popular.

  • Yea I just watched that....One issue i find when shooting indoors and using a flash is that the lighting always seems blown out and wrong...I might just be doing something wrong but i have been fighting on exactly how to use my flashes when shooting.

  • @VPNemo make sure you have autoFP (focal plane) or high speed flash sync enabled.

  • I was wondering when you are doing outdoors....or indoors....what are your flash settings. Is it standard ETTL or manual. Also what ISO settings do you use. Is Auto ISO a good way to go? I am shooting with a 7D. Thanks so much for these Amazing videos.

  • @VPNemo I think i cover most of this in the settings video. :)

I use TTL with xcompenstaion when needed. 400 iso should be enough in most cases.

  • Thank you for uploading these videos. Very helpful content!! I’m shooting my first wedding next year and I’m pretty nervous.

  • Great Video! I enjoyed everything, and you provided alot of features that I need to apply to myself and my Biz.

  • @MYRPhotography cheers

  • Wow! These are some amazing photos!

  • @MobiusCoin thanks

  • I see. What are your packages like? Please enlighten me (PM my inbox) coz I'm only a beginner for wedding photography. I'm not sure on how to price myself yet.

  • if you have time, can you make a vid on how you edit your photos, I love the brownish/grey tint you have on your photos, thanks

  • oh, and will that light flash really reach that far (especially when doing outdoors)??? Coz it seems like you're at least 10ft away from the couple in the gold course.. just curious

  • @rolofoto90 easily.

  • If I may ask, how much do you charge your clients per hour?

  • @rolofoto90 for weddings I dont charge per hour - offer a few packages.

  • @Lukapho shooting an all day wedding is a big job, the video is eyes and the best I could manage on the day.

  • @thatnikonguy fair enough. good advice nevertheless

  • Thank you for this excellent series! I really like your advice regarding photographing candid shots, and not going overboard there. I was looking through my sister's wedding photos last week, which were shot by her friend, and I experienced that same "oh, fifty shots of her hair getting rolled up... how... nice?" sentiment when I was looking through them. For her part, she didn't care for any of them. I'm much more inclined to pick and choose those moments.

  • Excellent tips. About to shoot my first wedding today and the videos offered helpful tips. Thanks

  • @larrynorman225 best of luck

  • My uncle serviced those golf carts......he's a craftsman.

  • How did you get such great lighting for the group shot and still have the sky properly exposed?? Great job btw.

  • @Skyf1es you can either use a graduated neutral density filter, or correct in post.

  • Loving these videos, Matt. Incredibly helpful and easy to understand. Maybe do a video on decent pricing?

  • @alexpirpiris THanks - will consider a pricing video - not 100% sure about that one.

  • Wonderful behind the scenes series, you are an amazing person to watch. I really liked the idea with multiple groups at 10:23 btw :)

  • @TheKarolans thank you, lovely to hear.

  • Exceptional insights! Classy and inexpensive to provide the wedding party with cold water on a hot day and as u said "treat them like friends". One thing if I may, I'd like it if you spoke a little while you show us the photos u took and maybe how u got the shot and how u got them to react to u. The dead silence is something I think you can improve on in these videos. I know it has nothing to do with how u shot the wedding but I think it would make your videos better- cheers!

  • @boilerjack THanks for the suggestion - I agree.

  • Great job on the wedding and the video

  • @sg100000000 thank you.

  • Great location! That shot at 12:39 is awesome! I love candids. This is very helpful, thanks!

  • @dumkopf thanks for feedback. Any requests, questions or suggestions?

  • @thatnikonguy None to be honest. I'm learning more than anything. It's all been very straightforward. I could *almost* shoot a wedding on my own!

  • great video. I know it comes with expereince & practise but can you try to share the camera settings ( iso, aperture, lens choice ) for some difficult situations. thats where most of us amateurs get stuck in quick & tense situations and end up switching to auto mode. thanks

  • @devwag great question - sure thing. Perhaps as part 5 or 6, I can focus in on particular shots, tell you the settings, why I chose them, how it affected the shot. Thanks.

  • i think your 100% right about treating people like friends at shoots and building a comfort level that will show up in the pics insted of just being a guy wondering around with a cam

  • @bwinn10 yes, really makes your job easier too.

  • Really like the arching group short in front of the house at the marriage... wonderful

  • @ratandeep007 thank you

  • Your microphone is only left-ear/side not the right (also in the second video)

  • @arthurke1993 yes, unfortunately

  • @arthurke1993 i was just gonna say that. how do you fix it

  • @bwinn10 any idea welcome. It is the AZDEN WLX-PRO VHF WIRELESS LAPEL MIC system. The camera records stereo, maybe just the mic attachment is not??

  • Absolutely wonderful Matt!! I'm Hoan on FB btw :)

  • @schumionbike thanks mate

  • Thank you so much!

    WOW wedding at high noon.

  • @midnight302 my pleasure. Glad you liked it.

  • Thank you so much!
