this version has its merits. the club/disco beat is kind of ominous and yet hyper excited. you cant help but dance but then again like a lady madonna twist, listening to the lyrics really can affect you if you listen to both at once. This version strikes me almost as sad and unable to get out.

I like a lot of Scissor Sisters stuff. I can respect that they wanted to and then went to the trouble of covering this Pink Floyd classic. However this song always had a lot more to do with a kind of teenage angst and depression that this cover not only doesn’t seem to capture but appears to abandon altogether. I can appreciate it from a musically academic viewpoint , but I don’t enjoy it.

No one can deny that Pink's version is the best. This is a good version and it takes a great song and brings it to the kids of a new generation.
@562sAnthm-Dont call this raver music! 1) ravers dont really exist anymore except at Burning Man 2) Dance music just puts this into a too broad catagory. Scissor Sisters are a mix of Progressive. Disco, Glam, amd Rock.
-The days are over that classifying music helps you understand it.

I like a lot of Scissor Sisters stuff. I can respect that they wanted to and then went to the trouble of covering this Pink Floyd classic. However this song always had a lot more to do with a kind of teenage angst and depression that this cover not only doesn’t seem to capture but appears to abandon altogether. I can appreciate it from a musically academic viewpoint , but I don’t enjoy it.

hahah someone said this version was better than the original. ahahah .. it's dance better I don't think so. It's a nice raver/dance feel... good job. Pink's is better... I think the sound and the tempo take away all meaning from the song. I do think the riff sounds like one use throughout the whole album (the wall). It's ok.

great cover indeed!!! Im not a big fan of Pink Floyd (although i love some of their songs...not this one though) and i think that this cover really shows how good Scissor Sisters really are....almost irrecognizable! :D
And pink floyd fans, stop acting like the original song is owned by you...kinda childish hahaha....

when people do a cover that means they respect the orginal version and they feel like they can to a type of tribute so if u dont like this version doesnt mean their trying to ruin it . With all respect to the original song they ripped the text from, ... this track KICKS ASS !!! It's a perfect mix of beats, weird voices, crazy lyrics and the right athmosphere. This is nearly the only track of SS which I like a lot ...

Everyone in this discussion who says that this is a song theft maybe can't understand that this is a good disco cover of a great song. This is not something like "another brick in the wall" in the Brooklin Bounce version.
Scissor sister are truly inspired by Pink Floyd's music. I am a great fan of Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, Nick Mason and Wright (RIP). I think SS would only make a good cover and i am sure they did.

In a techno way this song is ok, i hate how its song, but to be honest, this song belongs to no one but pink floyd, why take hes creativity and make it to something that it shouldn't be? It sounds like the scissor sisters for sure. I don't think i have as much hate for this cover as most people according to the comments but when your going to cover a song espically a song like this you can't make it sound like the original, mostly because that is impossible. I don't really like this track, my favorite from this album is tits on the radio. I think you should check out that song, I like the bass line.
