My 2007 Accent SE has 116,000 miles because I drive the hell out of it and with regular maintenance, it's been ultra-reliable with zero repairs. I'll be buying another Hyundai for my next new car. This is my fifth Hyundai and they have always been reliable.
@ghrpdx Hi, have you ever had the timing belt break on yours, or did they finally put a metal one in their engines? If they still have them how much to install, for those of us who buy 2nd hand? Thanks!
@IrisMG I had my timing belt, tensioner, accessory belts, and water pump changed at 101,175 miles. The acc. belts were shot but the timing belt looked and felt new. A friend of mine did it for me and the parts were $165. Typically, a shop will do the timing belt service for $400-500 without new seals which probably aren't needed with the first timing belt service. It's expensive, but necessary. Hyundai now uses a silent chain as of 2011-12 model years.
Looks...okay...ish....., but there is still one MAJOR problem with this car.....it's made by....what's it called.......Oh! Yeah! HYUNDAi...the korean boring, poorly made, unreliable car maker...better go with Kia then.....OH WAIT!!! They are the same! They are as bad!(if not worse, I mean they've made the Forte...you know the Honda Civic ripoff!!...I'm sorry, you casn say all you want that they've got better...I'll never buy a Hyundai...
It's between this, the Ford Fiesta, and the upcoming Chevrolet Sonic for the title of best subcompact. The Japanese offerings in this class might as well not even exist, compared to what the US and Korean automakers have got going, these days.
Hyundai has come a long way in terms of quality, style, and value. I know several people who have owned recent Hyundai vehicles and are completely satisfied. We have already looked at the Fiesta, Fit, Yaris, Soul, and Mazda M3. Then we saw the newly designed Accent. After looking at one in person and test driving it we have decided it will be our next car. It has more space, more power, better mileage, and better styling for less money. Hyundai is no longer an also ran. They are catching up.
You know there's a reason why these cars are cheap. I work at a Hyundai dealer so I know what I'm talking about. Everyone that works here either drives Chevy Ford or honda. You'd think theyd drive what they sell right? Ha!
Sorry, ladies and gentleman, but you can no longer call Hyundai a joke. Factually, every new car that they've hit us with have been gorgeous, with more equipment and a lot cheaper than their competitors in price. The new Cruze is a nice car, but GM is up to its old tricks. In negotiations for one, I found out that I had to pay extra for the color, Red. Yes, about $300+ for Red. Did you think that paint robot charged more for its labor. No! I walked out!
@TheLifetraveler1 So you're mad because Crystal Red Tintcoat, a paint that's more than just some regular gloss, is an extra-cost color? You do realize other automakers do the same damn thing with colors that aren't just simple gloss (and in some cases, metallic) coats, right? That's not GM being "up to its old tricks," that's GM covering the extra cost of the color's production.
I bought an Accent hatchback in '95 (the first year). I had the car 11 years and it was a very good car. Got me through college and a bunch of road trips. My sister has an '02 Accent (bought new) and it's still going strong. I now have an '06 Tucson and love it. I'm really glad, though, that Hyundai has really made this new Accent much more upscale. I've got to say, I'm really looking forward to test driving a Veloster when they come out.
There's only 2 cars worst than a Hyundai, that would be a Kia and anything French

Toyota was producing cars like crazy just to sell them. Kinda what Hyundai is doing. Just give it some time and Hyundais true colors will show.

@wtrdogg20 LOL is that it? These days any car can beat a Toyota. Did you ever hear about the list of problems Toyotas have?
