Something about this track. The first time I heard it, it just sounded like a strange racket, after a while I was listening it on repeat. Just something magical about it.

DJ Shadow is a genius, i have 2 admit i was only aware of 1 tune he did High Noon which is 1 of my favourite tunes of all time. But i did not realise the man is responsible for producing all this other amazing music
@XxXxDaDa I'm pretty sure he also uses that laser sound effect from "Help Us/Save Us/Take Us Away" by KMFDM. If you listen to that song, you'll see what I mean.
The landscape view of Downtown LA from the Hollywood Hills or the Getty Centre is one hell of a sight. In all it's urbanistic terror it has such a mystical aura to it. I spent hours gazing at it.
Disagree, trip hop was coined on the back of massive attacks progressive electronic music in the early 90's. DJ Shadow is an excellent advocate of trip hop but certainly not the founder. Discuss.
"The term "Trip hop" was coined by music journalist Andy Pemberton in the UK magazine Mixmag to describe the hip hop instrumental "In/Flux", a 1993 single by DJ Shadow, and other similar tracks released on the Mo' Wax label and being played in London clubs at the time. "In/Flux", with its mixed up bpms, spoken word samples, strings, melodies, bizarre noises, prominent bass, and slow beats, gave the listener the impression they were on a musical trip."
Neither does DJ shadow for that matter , he did "Entroducing" album with his SP 1200 and his MPC's ... cop one thats what makes quality tracks , also the live instruments like the drums on this track
haha what are u implying for one track he decided to use FL and really for what ? , especially when they use a complete intergrated hardware environment where he and chad(hugo), use macs and combination of logic , pro tools and triton for sequencing ..pick up EQ, Remix , or even scratch any mag that any pro is on and u can see what they use in their studio
This song is real.

I think this would be better if they left out all the bits that wern't by Pugh Rogefeldt, and didn't chop the song up

Am I the only one who gets a silent hill vibe from this song? WIthout the drums it would actually be a pretty creepy ambient track.
From 1:04 to 1:23 is a perfect example of this.
Excellent track.

It also kicks in at 1:04.

@kakabukkake0 The kind of muffled guitar. You can hear it alone from 1:04 to 1:14

it is trip hop, not hip hop.
The genre was coined on one of Shadow's earlier tracks, In/Flux. It grew from hip hop turned downtempo.

DJ Shadow has good taste when using Pugh's music
kloverlindelona 4 years ago
This is a mix of Roger Waters, Björk, and.... PUGH ROGEFELDT, a rock/hiphop/acoustic/blues artist from Sweden.
The incredible drums: Pugh's music.
The cool electric guitar: Pugh's music.
The voice in the very end: Pugh's voice.
And that song is from 1969, it's called "Love love love"! Hope you'll check it out. Really awesome stuff.
Love DJ Shadow too.
