  • This song is real.

  • I have this same vision, except the city is Chicago.

  • Something about this track. The first time I heard it, it just sounded like a strange racket, after a while I was listening it on repeat. Just something magical about it.

  • I think this would be better if they left out all the bits that wern't by Pugh Rogefeldt, and didn't chop the song up

  • reminds those sleepless nights, doesnt it?

  • such a melancholic song

  • entroducing was released in 96 not 98

  • Am I the only one who gets a silent hill vibe from this song? WIthout the drums it would actually be a pretty creepy ambient track.

From 1:04 to 1:23 is a perfect example of this.

    Excellent track.

  • @Auroron It's supposed to be dark and sexy, dumbass. Like classy call girls.

  • @cocks308 I know it's supposed to be like that, no reason to call me a dumbass for it.

  • do you feel like darth vader?

  • I swear this song tells a fucking story

  • Do i feel a boner?

  • what part is the bjork sample?!?

  • @kakabukkake0 It starts from the beginning, 'the part behind the drums'

It also kicks in at 1:04.

  • @kakabukkake0 The kind of muffled guitar. You can hear it alone from 1:04 to 1:14

  • davekee15, this is an awesome video. Thank you.

  • I WON THIS ALBUM ON VINYL!

one of me favorites, favorite song off the album

    (Bjork sample FTW)

  • most trippin song.

  • Then I came to America, saw Xanadu. That's all I wanted to do, roller skate

Does anyone know where the samples of the girl talking are from??

  • From the Film Xanadu.

  • Search "pugh rogefeldt love" for the drum sample.

  • this sounds like a soundtrack to a parkour video

  • good to see someone go to effort for what is truely a great song; hope to visit LA sometime 5/5

  • very good trip :D

    real vision

  • dj shadows muisc has allways been an inspiration for me, an im only just talking about the private press... now that i know the existance of this truely spacy song, il be on the hunt for this album :o thnks for the upload, verry much apreciated :D

  • we have the same brain my friend...this is my fav DJ shadow song, and I couldnt have put a better video to it. greetings from Seattle

  • Sick song.. underrated...

  • funny you should say that "Killerbrick"

I'd actually forgotten this tune even though I have the album Entroducing

  • DJ Shadow is a genius, i have 2 admit i was only aware of 1 tune he did High Noon which is 1 of my favourite tunes of all time. But i did not realise the man is responsible for producing all this other amazing music

  • Cool!

  • Here are the sources people:

    Mutual Slump

    "Possibly Maybe" by Björk

"Love, Love, Love" by Pugh Rogefeldt

"More Than Seven Dwarfs in Penis-Land" by Roger Waters & Ron Geesin

"Xanadu" (spoken word) by Olivia Newton John from Xanadu

    -Wikipedia

    Now GTFO

  • @XxXxDaDa I'm pretty sure he also uses that laser sound effect from "Help Us/Save Us/Take Us Away" by KMFDM. If you listen to that song, you'll see what I mean.

  • @XxXxDaDa Haha, the sheer fact that it's Olivia Newton John kinda ruins it for me. But it doesn't ruin the song. Nothing can ruin the song.

  • One of the best on the album.

  • i saw a zamadoo........thats all i wanted to do........was rollerskate

  • wasn't it 'xanadu'?

  • Uh, Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten, RKO 1941.

  • Xanadu*

  • zick song!!!

  • The landscape view of Downtown LA from the Hollywood Hills or the Getty Centre is one hell of a sight. In all it's urbanistic terror it has such a mystical aura to it. I spent hours gazing at it.

  • Truely is an amazing city when i visited. But my heart belongs in texas :)

  • dj shadow is a legend

  • Hollywood seems like such an abstract place...

  • Fuck yes....

    Into the unknown!

  • /watch?v=gwvjeEZBlLk

  • i love the womans voice, so dreamy.

  • genius DJ!

  • thanks man a nice song

    nice memories of being

young , skateboarding , and feel free

thanks very much havent heard it for years

  • this song and others on this album will always remind me of the times i spent as a young gun growin up in tha UK, Aberdeen, Scotland baby.

Nik Beam from OKLAHOMA CITY to FORT SMITH baby

  • this album reminds me of montreal

  • WOW, nice upload. Love this tune. Cheers !!

  • unreal genius.

  • Inspired from the Swedish artist Pugh Rogerfeldt!!

  • Oh, and I think the most haunting track on Endtroducing is "Building Steam with a Grain of Salt." The vocal is kinda crazy.

  • This is the song that got me into Shadow in the first place. Love it.

  • nice video man , you got talent , cheers , djs rules

  • This song always reminds me of a bad trip; definitely the most haunting track on the album.

  • This reminds of of silent hill for some reason

  • sample of Bjork possibly maybe

  • dope tune! nice video

  • Beautiful, I love Hollywood.

  • Excellent video. Nice editing.

  • sublime. melt

  • one of the best song on endtroducing...

  • @geniusgza7 the BEST song on entroducing.

  • song is used in a jabbawockeez crew routine, so sick

  • what kind of music is this?

    i like it very =)

  • It is hip hop

  • it is trip hop, not hip hop.

The genre was coined on one of Shadow's earlier tracks, In/Flux. It grew from hip hop turned downtempo.

  • Yep, that's right - I agree

  • Disagree, trip hop was coined on the back of massive attacks progressive electronic music in the early 90's. DJ Shadow is an excellent advocate of trip hop but certainly not the founder. Discuss.

  • "The term "Trip hop" was coined by music journalist Andy Pemberton in the UK magazine Mixmag to describe the hip hop instrumental "In/Flux", a 1993 single by DJ Shadow, and other similar tracks released on the Mo' Wax label and being played in London clubs at the time. "In/Flux", with its mixed up bpms, spoken word samples, strings, melodies, bizarre noises, prominent bass, and slow beats, gave the listener the impression they were on a musical trip."

    From wikipedia.

  • yeah it can be called trip-hop, but to me its hiphop, or just pure music!

  • instrumental hip hop / trip hop ,, (same diff) ,, turntablism,, sound collage,,,, etc etc ,,,, look up blockhead,,, awesome shit there too

  • Mann, Dj shadow is the shit. I havent heard this in years and its stil gooood. :]]]

  • I LOVE THIS...does anyone know where i can download it??

  • Buy the album Entroducing. It is godly.

  • yeah the whole album is amazing

  • this shit is brilliant...so amazing like listening to a poem and getting jerked off at the same time.

  • lmao

  • DJ Shadow's songs take you on journeys... awesome

  • "Do you like Darth Vader?"

  • It's "Do you feel like Darth Vader?"

  • I am very serius about my advice

DJ Shadow has good taste when using Pugh's music

  • This is a mix of Roger Waters, Björk, and.... PUGH ROGEFELDT, a rock/hiphop/acoustic/blues artist from Sweden.

    The incredible drums: Pugh's music.

The cool electric guitar: Pugh's music.

The voice in the very end: Pugh's voice.

And that song is from 1969, it's called "Love love love"! Hope you'll check it out. Really awesome stuff.

    Love DJ Shadow too.

  • that rhodes bit was sampled off a bjork song called possibly maybe

  • hey nice video lol dammit i cant get this song off limewire

  • :s the song was made before fl studio...

    pharrel williams uses fl studio

  • haha pharrell never uses FL studio , hes a professional - pro tools industry standard ..

  • Neither does DJ shadow for that matter , he did "Entroducing" album with his SP 1200 and his MPC's ... cop one thats what makes quality tracks , also the live instruments like the drums on this track

  • money maker?

  • haha what are u implying for one track he decided to use FL and really for what ? , especially when they use a complete intergrated hardware environment where he and chad(hugo), use macs and combination of logic , pro tools and triton for sequencing ..pick up EQ, Remix , or even scratch any mag that any pro is on and u can see what they use in their studio

  • i have a feeling he uses FL STUDIO, cause i can make beats like this with it.

  • DJ SHADOW!!!!!

  • Very nice video, thank you for making it, and sharing it with us :)

  • nice vid, fits the song well

  • I love that fe-males voice..
