Oh, I waited for tips, until I realised the vid was only for boys. What can't be stressed enough is: Don't babble about yourself all the time, I get that alot. @Sungkawa Wrong. Equality is equality across the board, not just when it suits/favours women. It also has nothing to do with a man "not being able" to pay for the woman. What does it say about a woman if she CAN pay for herself but doesn't? Cheap? Gold-digger? Whether or not the girl wants to pay is a sign of whether or not she's interested. If she says she'll pay, then the guy should say that he'll cover it. If the girl continues, then it may be a sign that she's not interested. If she lets the guy pay, she may feel obliged to owe him, such as paying on further dates. And if she doesn't want to go on another date, she'll keep on insisting until she gets to pay and not be committed to further dates.

I like to plan dates around cost free events. Art walks, farmers markets, etc. Makes me feel like I don't have to "buy" her of impress her with money. And in this economy I want to save as much as possible so I can splurge for those special moments like anniversaries or birthdays.

I don't text... I actually hate texting. I like your advice for meeting. What do you do if you are trying to read the signs during the date and they just don't seem interested or invested? I went on a date with someone who I really liked and I tried to let her be a part of the conversation. I opened conversational doors to let her get involved and tried to stimulate responses. Yet, I didn't get much even when I asked her questions. SHE made it a 1 sided conversation... :-(

First date i guess the most importand date it gives the impression of a person .
My first date was at a e Warung at a bus Terminal only to eat Gulai /Satay Kambing not that and have a coke not quite romantic it's not that Im cheap it was all i could afford at the time the only thing did right was to take of my jacket for her when it got cold you know when ur like on a first date u get nervous and want to do every thing right and all goes wrong ya know I kinda suck at this kind of stuff

Oh, I waited for tips, until I realised the vid was only for boys. What can't be stressed enough is: Don't babble about yourself all the time, I get that alot. It's blabla I'm so cool blabla pick me blabla unbelievable what I can do bla bla and at the end of the date you realize they know nothing about you, and if you're really lucky, they afterwards think they've fallen in love, still they don't know anything about you that could have made them do this.

I still disagree with the "pay for the first date" stuff, Vanae. I side with SkyyJohn (who I tend to disagree with on most other stuff) in that the woman should pay half. I know Vanae says guys and girls should trade off but, as Skyy said, what if you go somewhere pricey and she takes you somewhere cheap? Plus, it's all very well women stating they're independent so doesn't having the guy pay for their meal defeat the object?
It's not gentlemanly; it's women claiming special treatment.

One final thing: if guys are in a situation where they end up going on lots of first dates -- internet dating, friends setting them up -- paying for all those first dates is going to eat a hole in their wallets. And ironically, WE'LL still be the ones labelled "cheap" if we take the girl somewhere less expensive, just to try to save a few notes.
As for first date tips ... meh, just steer clear of talking about your fetishes and you'll be fine.

@Sungkawa Wrong. Equality is equality across the board, not just when it suits/favours women. It also has nothing to do with a man "not being able" to pay for the woman. What does it say about a woman if she CAN pay for herself but doesn't? Cheap? Gold-digger? Probably not, yet the man would be called cheap if he didn't pay and expecting free food is the one act of gold-digging that it's seen as acceptable for women to do.
Also, I don't see how "pride" comes into a man paying for a woman.

agree with the one about sitting in front of each other...had a date with this really awkward guy who i first thought was normal, but found out he enjoyed talking about himself; how he had been so fat a few years ago and now that he's slim he gets so much more women and him liking litterature and talking about him making his own memoires and the women he's dated have all been sort of crazy, had some issues and him having trouble with his family....6 hour date and i didnt get to say a word!

Whether or not the girl wants to pay is a sign of whether or not she's interested. If she says she'll pay, then the guy should say that he'll cover it. If the girl continues, then it may be a sign that she's not interested. If she lets the guy pay, she may feel obliged to owe him, such as paying on further dates. And if she doesn't want to go on another date, she'll keep on insisting until she gets to pay and not be committed to further dates.
Not that you should EVER call her out on it.

the best first date i ever had was a trip to the zoo.it was a very relaxed atmosphere and the animals gave us allot to talk about.i also think men should plan and pay for the first date. i also agree that you should never go for dinner, the cinema or any other stereotypical place as you want to give the impression that you are fun, creative and exciting not some bore who just wants to go through the motions.

1. Don't be available Friday and Saturday nights. Make the date for Sun-Thurs for first 3 dates ONLY.
2. Bust her chops as much as possible. Tell her you know all about females' testing and coded language.
3. Take her somewhere romantic like trout fishing in the mountains where she is forced to get naked.
4. "Ask her out" lol. Tell HER to buy YOU tea .ha ha.

I like to plan dates around cost free events. Art walks, farmers markets, etc. Makes me feel like I don't have to "buy" her of impress her with money. And in this economy I want to save as much as possible so I can splurge for those special moments like anniversaries or birthdays.

Hello there, what if someone is too bored to such 1st "date"?
I mean when i meet a woman that i feel some kind of good chemical going on, i dont ask on a date I just ask if she would be interested in doing something fun such as...name the activity. And make sure you tell her not to think its a date , no need to wear anything too fancy or any make up and even bring a friend or two.
WHY? O_O bcs i dont want to date women that cant have fun, smile be simple and will give me drama & headaches. lol

@vanae12 sorry if my early comment sounded a little aggressive (and for the spelling: 500 characters restriction). i should have known guys kind of suck at finding a suitable mate. i just meant to say that i don't think a guy has to pay an the first date necessarily (even though i have never let a girl pay the first). but if you do a couple of activities (recommended) the guy could pay for the first one, the girl for the second one, and so on -- like you have said, "never split the bill."

@peopleadmire Right but if the girl agrees to go out but doesn't pay, who's to say if she's going out because she likes the guy or just because she wants free food? The point is that she AGREES to go out with the guy, which makes them equal. If she agrees to go out with him agreeing to pay half, it'd let the guy know that she likes him for him and he's not wasting his time.
Guys ask girls out more than the reverse anyway, so if we go by the "guy asks, guy pays" rule, it's already unfair.
