Out of the 3 "holy" books: Quran and the 2 main hadiths: 97% of references to jihad is physical warfare only 3% refers to an inner struggle.

Quran 9:1-5 and 9:29 sure doesn't sound like "inner struggle" to me. the 45 British Islamic medical doctors who tried to set off bombs at the Scottish airports probably didn't seem 9:1-5 and 9:29 as "inner struggle" either.
