Good choice of music! Does the FT1/TS1 have a timelapse mode, or can you vary the framerate in-camera, or did you record at the full frame-rate and drop frames in post-processing?
i'm thinking of buying this camera for a year long sailing trip - for photo's and video's but,,,, I'm not very techno able - how easy is it to upload video's to youtube or a website! As i'm going to be at sea most of the time i don't want to have to spend hours uploading (and i don't even know what/why people compress video's!)
Also can you explain in simple terms the difference between the video modes - its all so confusing but i do like this camera!
well, uploading is pretty simple. you are able to upload a raw file to youtube without encoding or anything but the raw file will be pretty big so it will take some time to finish uploading.
Hey nice video! What type of SDHC card are you using specifcally what class? I am running a Sandisk 8 gb class 2 card and was wondering if I am loosing any capabilities while shooting video in HD. Is my class 2 card sufficient for the DMC TS1 Camera?
Hi. I just bought the same camera. did you use AVCHD format on this video or the mpeg HD? I cant seem to view or trannsfer AVCHD format to my computer. I think its more clearer than shooting the mpeg format. can you tell me how you transfered the video/ thanks!
wow that is one crazy ass city... all u do is just hit the breaks all the time. wow that city must be so polluted i would never wana live there :/ great video anyway!
hey i have the same camera how did you import it into sony vegas? when i import it, it only imports the sound dosent work for and when i try to convert it to avi and i sent the quailty it still loses heaps of quailty please help?!
I sent every minute enjoy your YouTube production here. Excuse me for asking this, am I overlooked the spec of this camera? I did not remember it has Time lapse feature listed.
Thanks for the upload. I read your description, but I wonder one thing (about all these digital cameras with HD recording):
This 'AVCHD Lite' format... is this the format you recorded in, and edited? I've read how difficult it is to work on, especially on an older PC (~5 years). My goal is to take clips, and edit them into little vignette (mini-movies). I wouldn't be so eager to get one (with AVCHD), if I can't edit/view it on my camera. Anyway, thanks.
when i record videos with my cam it automatically record in AVCHD or motion JPG.
then, i edit the video on vegas and export as wmv.
with my notebook(Core 2 Duo T8300 2.40Ghz, 2GB RAM) rendering takes forever. for instance, for 60min. video takes about 6~7hrs and for 30sec. one takes about 2~3min. to render.
so usually i edit all the files before i go to bed and render the video while i am sleeping. lol
PS: thanks for all the help. I finally bought a class 6 card and its all up and running. On my way back from St. Maarten now with about 20 HD videos... haha.
I'm going to try to upload them.... sometime haha.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what the video recording capacity is for AVCHD Lite. Does it depend on the card? Someone told me it's only 15 mins?? Is this true?
mine is the 'sdhc class 6' 8gb one with blue stickers on. i don't remember the speed but this is fast enough without any lag.
i'm pretty happy with this one but i recommend you to get the sandisk ultra II or extreme III. they're little more expensive than trenscend but more secure.
also with 8gb one, you can record about 1 hr of high quality AVCHD video. so you could record more than 2 hrs if you get 16gb one i guess?
Hey! Yeah, I've heard the minimum is SDHC class 6. I was thinking of getting between 8-16gb of memory. Here in Canada the Sandisk extreme III is really expensive though (were talking $99 dollars for 8gb) so that's out of the question. Ive also read the Ultra II is only a class 4!
Brand does not matter to me, just lag free video at a reasonable price :/ I cant pay 200 dollars for memory cards... haha
oh and what do you mean when you say " more secure:? haha
ps: my TS1 makes a slight buzzing noise when i turn it on.... it's a little annoying, and I don't think its normal.... does your's make any sort of constant buzzing noise while in operation?!! I figure for 500 dollars it should be quiet!
trenscend makes pretty good memory cards but i saw some people having problems such as 'recognition failure' sometimes. but sandisk makes better and secure one without almost no errors or problem so far as i know.
is it sounds like some kinda radio frequency noise? not much noisy but you could usually hear this kinda noise from tv... right?
if it is, it should be normal. mine does make same noise but i think it is normal.
let me say, you just get a sdhc card first, and take some movie file and then, play it on your computer. if you still hear the noise from the movie, then i think you should call panasonic to replace with new one.
Yeah, its a very faint buzz. Barely audible. I have pretty good hearing and i picked it up right away (plus i was playing with it at about 2 am... and it was quiet).
I believe they all make this sound. I went back to the store and exchanged it... same noise.
Even the floor model made the same noise.
I even checked other models of new panasonic cameras.... same noise... haha

Hi, I also have the FT1, perfect cam !
And the new Vegas also accepts the .MTS extension.
But how did you do the time lapse, just play it faster ? or is there some sort of time lapse option ? thanks
Bazakilouis 2 years ago
on the vegas, put your mouse cursor on end of your video clip and press 'ctrl' key then you will see wave icon, then click and shrink the clip.
just search "timelapse tutorial sony vegas" on youtube.
you will see couple of tutorials and it's very easy.

Thanks.
You can record the video until your memory is full.
for instance, i have a 8gb sdhc and can record little over 1hr without stopping util full.
if you have a bigger memory card, you can record longer.
n54power 2 years ago
EXCELLENT!! I've placed my order. :-)
btw - the choice of music for this video is perfect!
BEAST636 2 years ago
I have DMC-FT1 with firmaware 1.1 and it only allows me to record video for 15.00 min. ( AVCHD)
And 8.24 min. (JPEG) Using sandisk ultra III 16GB. hmmm....

I noticed you said transcend? What are the read/ write speeds like on that?
Notice any lag at all??
I just bought this camera today, so excited! but i need an SD card now haha

there is no such as speed up mode in this camera.
i used sony vegas to made it fast.
you also can use adobe premiere cs4 to do the same thing.

nope. i used sony vegas to play it fast.
get the camera you will not regret, i love mine so much. the video quality is very high and smooth.
