Gotta admit, compared to Armada, this kinda . . . well, sucked really. I apologize to all those who like it, if you do, fair enough. This is just my personal opinion. The combination of 2D and 3D CGI animation, kind of an epic fail. They improved it greatly in cybertron, but that series sucked due to the american dubbers trying to turn it into an Armada/Energon sequel when it was only intended to be it's own stand alone series. Energon (like all transformers should be) was made for kids. The haters need to get a life, my kids loved it. They also found it funnier than the other series (in particular snow cat). The worst Transformers (in my opinion) has to be the films, as they are not age appropriate for the fans (kids) and toy range. That said, as an adult I didn't think the first 2 movies were that bad as audio-visual experiences,and had some entertaining moments.
At about 0:05 Hot Shot's head comes off and completely leaves the screen, only for another one to appear when he forms the top half of a linked Autobot.
The theme is the best part of this series. Honestly, I hardly remember watching it and I now I know why......because it sucked! Animated is way better than this and so Cybertron actually mad up for this sad excuse of a series (where they hardly transformed!!!!!)
I have to ask the Energon fans.... what is it about Energon that you like? Because I made great sport (and a drinking game) of highlighting its problems in a series of posts called "Fun With Energon" (search my channel), and I can't help but wonder what it is that Energon's fans actually see in it that I'm apparently missing.
BTW, that's an actual question, not just me ragging on it.
@AeonMagnus I guess that kids are more naive. They don't care about writing, acting, editing, or logic, they just want entertainment. I've read the TFWiki page a couple of times and just about every part of Energon was inferior, even when I compare it to Robots in Disguise or Transformers: Generation 2. But to be fair, Energon's production was too rushed. But Transformers: Cybertron is where the franchise really hits its stride (At least that's how I see it, anyway.)

Kicker hates TFs, then he leads Autobots, Rodimus doesn't agree with Optimus, then he works for him, saving Unicron, destroying Unicron, repeating everything from the cities on the planets, Inferno's story just stops, Demolishor stops pondering good and evil and becomes a monkey... the dialogue rarely describing events or intentions didn't help either. Kicker regularly tops most-hated lists along with the Armada kids.
Energon had a strong beginning, some good characterization, especially with Starscream or Demolishor... then threw it all away for nothing. Every character thrown into Energon had first a pretty neat background, be it Shockblast, Wing Dagger, the Maximuses or even Rodimus, then the makers go all like "screw this shit, robots don't need personnalities". Shockblast was by my opinion one of the most accomplished characters of this show though.
@CultistRayqui So true. Almost every character had something interesting about them when they first started. Not one actually lived up to that potential, as it was tossed away 5 mins later. I'd add Scorponok to that list; he had an intriguing origin, but got mind-wiped into a lackey and spent the rest of the series with his visor down. They all ended up "Yes sir!"-ing and grunting (whether it be that fire-weapon-grunt thing, run-grunting, or just the classic "huh?") their way through the series.

Such a waste of an interesting character trying to find his place in the universe. Was he an Autobot? Did he believe in the Decepticon cause any more? What about his human and Autobot friends? What does Megatron's return mean?

I don't care how much hate Kicker or Roadbuster get. Those 2 are a memorable duo and I'm always anxious to find out what'll happen to them. They also make me laugh and cry.

I get this question all the time, along with "what's the name of this song?" as if it's an actual 3-4 min song/single. Sort of like asking what album "Two All Beef Patties" can be found on. Maybe a TV themes compilation cassette from a gas station?
@AlphaofEltar It's true though. Used to be that opening themes could run 60, even as much as 90 seconds in extreme cases. But then the rules changed, and they allowed a higher ratio of ad-time vs program-time, so the networks cut show running times to fit in more $-earning ads, and producers trimmed down openings to get back some time for the show itself that had been lost to the ads. 30 seconds became typical, but some shows don't even do that, just a title card like TF: Prime.
First time I ever seens a car do a powerlink with a fire engine. No seriously I've seen the theme song a million times, but now it accures to me that that's not even possible.
G1,G2 and Armada were dbest series because they actualy put emotion in many charachters, Cybertron and Energon sucks and Energon theme fails to Armada theme.

armada was awesome especially the mini-cons energon just made it better because along with the mini-cons you can use energon stars beast wars wasnt that great but cybertron fixed that with vector prime and the cyber planet keys and now we have a modern version transformers animated though i admit the voices are off (like in all the other seasons optimus sounded the same) but transformers animated is the best yet! It's good to see the Armada folks again, but the Armada story was handled better. (And Cybertron needs more love. Red Alert returns, there's Override and Vector Prime, Starscream practically becomes a god and sticks it to Autobots *and* Decepticons as G1 and TFA Screamer could only dream of doing. And of course another season of David Kaye as Megs, yesssss.)

I just like to think of Energon as filler between Armada and Cybertron. You could ignore Energon and not lose anything.
Really, the only thing that Energon had going for it was the opening music.

@AlphaofEltar Do you mean TF: Animated? I have the 60 sec unused one of that (via TFW2005), cut back to 30 for the series. AFAIK, this is the only/longest opening for Energon. If anyone knows otherwise, LMK and I'll try and track it down.
I get this question all the time, along with "what's the name of this song?" as if it's an actual 3-4 min song/single. Sort of like asking what album "Two All Beef Patties" can be found on. Maybe a TV themes compilation cassette from a gas station?

@AlphaofEltar It's true though. Used to be that opening themes could run 60, even as much as 90 seconds in extreme cases. But then the rules changed, and they allowed a higher ratio of ad-time vs program-time, so the networks cut show running times to fit in more $-earning ads, and producers trimmed down openings to get back some time for the show itself that had been lost to the ads. 30 seconds became typical, but some shows don't even do that, just a title card like TF: Prime.

armada was awesome especially the mini-cons energon just made it better because along with the mini-cons you can use energon stars beast wars wasnt that great but cybertron fixed that with vector prime and the cyber planet keys and now we have a modern version transformers animated though i admit the voices are off (like in all the other seasons optimus sounded the same) but transformers animated is the best yet! (next 2 the movies) so for all that hate energon season realize that this is great!

@omegaprim First off I respect your opinion but Energon was a terrible series With a hopeful strong beginning Energon simply lost it's spark after 20 episodes and then melting into a molten scrap pile. The characters were weak and the plotting were just as lame. First off D's bring back Unicron ok then the A's destroy him, then Unicron reforms A's destroy him again this becomes a reoccurring theme throughout the series yawn boring. Also why transform when the cars fly,

It's good to see the Armada folks again, but the Armada story was handled better. (And Cybertron needs more love. Red Alert returns, there's Override and Vector Prime, Starscream practically becomes a god and sticks it to Autobots *and* Decepticons as G1 and TFA Screamer could only dream of doing. And of course another season of David Kaye as Megs, yesssss.)
