It looks like you have a fixation for knives that look a certain way. I think it's a man thing, some like blondes, some like em tall, when it comes to knives...I think it's all good.
Hey Nitwitbeer, I was wondering if you knew anything about United Cutlery and how good the quality of their products is. I'm thinking about getting a double edged back up/boot knife from them. I was also thinking about getting the Gerber Guardian back up. Also, do you know if Double Edged blades are illegal to carry around, like in California or Texas? Anyways, thanks for your opinion!!!
Im not Nitwitbeer, but I do know that double edges are legal to carry as long as its not over 3 inches (states law)and United Cutlery is a very good cheap brand but Gerber beats them by a long shot. The Gerber Guardian is a very nice blade, but if you want a more sturdy blade I recommend CRKT AG Russell Sting, its also a double sided Boot knife/thorw knife.
ALWAYS! I always had nice kitchen knives but I've been focusing on that area in recent months with different Santoku and Chef knives as well as assorted paring boning sliced utility by Global, J.A. Henckels PRO, Kershaw, Forschner, etc. Spent a lot!
..also got the new leatherman skeletool and the cx model and a few other folding knives. I didn't like either of the Leatherman's and for the first time actually sent both back. My leatherman wave is still my fav multitool and is still goind strong. I have a pic of it and my SOG and other multitools on my vid 1 collection.
Yea, the BM 740 is very nice...been carrying it for a while now. I particularly like the way the handle flares out; it rides low in pocket but it's so easy to grab that flared gaurd. Fit and finnish couldn't be better. It carries nicely for such a large knife.
You got the best knife collection i ever seen...i live in germany and here knives are very expensive...do you also have the spydcro civilian? i like the cold steel karambit a lot...i want to have it...anyway great collection
I've got a Benchmade 740 on the way. What's your impression of it? It seems like a very comfortable knife. I was torn between it, and an Al Mar SERE. I'll probably get the SERE down the road. Nice vid...Love the music.
It's been great so far. I like everything about it.. blade size, ergonomics, appearance. I prefer tip-up carry based on habits. Solid and smooth action and a knife that I'll have for a lifetime. You made a great purchase. Not familiar with the SERE but it gets great reviews and I'd like to check it out next time I step into a shop. Thanks.
The Poliwig has the unique the ball-lock and design. Holding the knife places your index finger very close the knife edge using the choil. That and the wide design of the knife took some getting used too. The clip is very tight and it's design makes it difficult on thicker jean pockets but overall the knife is great, little heavy, edge sharpens very easily.
I just ordered the knife few days back. I like the design, and I love the idea of thumb close to edge. And good to hear about the weight, I love weight in knife!
Mostly used for day to day tasks along with other outdoor activities. I have a few fixed blades that would more suitable for hunting on my other vids (1&2).
The Karambit is a sharp little devil and I have little experience with using these types of blades. I'd suggest practicing and researching before using a Karambit.
notwitbeer thanks for the advice about the spyderco police and military i went with what you said and got them both i like them alot but id have to agree with you i like the police better do you have any expirience with the sog tomcat 3.0?
I don't have any experience with the SOG Tomcat 3.0, however mrskillz001 is a knife enthusiast here and has had one for awhile (see mrskillz001 vids).
Between the two I like the feel of the Police better, even though it's heavier. Two completely different knives and my Military is an older version. They since have changed the blade steel not sure about the ergonomics or lock. In my pocket for edc though I'd take the military. Hell just get em both =)
I was very impressed with it and purchased it when it first was released. Great design, quality and feel. The G10 handle fits awesome, great s30v steel, solid opening/lock, and no blade play. The designer BOB LUM just passed 12-4-07 and what a legacy he left. Well respected in the knife community. Just google his name. 100% recommend the knife.
I'd take the Trident between those two knives. It feels better in my hand and I use it much more than the twitchXL. I like the clip, lock, weight, etc of the Trident.
Nicely done man. Spyderco seems best. I have the Civilian, it's awesome. Native, Endura coming soon. Unfortunately, I pay much more for them in Romania, and I can't really afford. But I still want more:)
Varied utility and all around basic tasks and outdoor activities. I have more than I need but appreciate the design and function of each as great tools. Plus I enjoy the ownership and meeting others who have the similar interests.
I like knives too very much :) i use them at fishing, hunting and of course knife is good tool to open ammoboxes (at shooting-range and if you have ammoboxes with you at hunting trips) because they usually have that annoying tape wich you have to rip off before you can open the box and they sure give you hard time if you try with your fingers.
Hard to specifically say but for a complete new user handling the knives the Benchmade axis and SOG arc locks are extremely fast and easy to open AND close one-handed. The Spyderco's are insanely fast as well.
Also the assisted knives are worth looking at as well. SOG and Kershaw make a few that open very easily and fast. I have a few SOG's in the vids (flashII, Twitch XL and II, Tridents).
It's a slim, smaller size folder that feels real solid. Has a smooth action like all the other stainless Spyderco's and is comfortable. It also offers 4 different clip positions (I prefer tip-up carry).
What song is that playing in the background? At first it almost sounded a little like summertime then i heard lois armstrong and its obviously not that. Anyhoo cool jazz tune and cool knives.
You have a amazing collection, I'm just getting into collecting, I have a Ka-Bar D2 Extreme Fixed Blade a Sog Flash 2 and a Sog Pentagon Elite 1. I'm considering an Spyderco Volpe C99 or a CRKT Full Throttle between the tow brand which one would you suggest?

Thanks! Unfortunately not. I started my SOG ownership first and the Kershaw line has a lot of similar knives. If I do purchase it will probably be from their KAI Zero Tolerance lineup.
I don't have a hands on experience with either. mrskillz001 posts on here and has both ZT0200 blade and the Tomcat. I'd ask someone who has one or both of the blades for a recommendation. I like the reviews of both, but would rather own the ZT0301.
The Karambit's blade size was smaller than I expected. It feels solid in the hand and flicks open easily. I just purchased it so the closing with the liner lock is very stiff. So far so good but I doubt it'll see and 'real' use.
Should correct myself. The Spyderco Karambit uses more of a framelock. Not a linerlock - Spyderco military. The pivot screw is large and I'm still working it in and adjusting torque to allow quicker action.
