You should definitely try to keep the Scar Stories book in it's entirety. It's really not that thick so it wouldn't be too clumsy and photos just wouldn't do it justice.
Catagorize your porfolio into sections relating to ideas or marketing views. In an interview provide what the company is looking for and never doubt your views on your porfolio
If you don't have much professional experience you might want to bulk up your portfolio to give the impression that you have experience. If you have a lot of pro experience, then pick out the highlights of your career. Put yourself in the shoes of the people who are going to look at your portfolio. Do you think they want to search through a messy, large, and unorganized portfolio? They might not have the time to go through everything so keep it organized.

I think the scars concept is very clever. Being that you are a woman of ideas, you should show it. I agree it should be 3 spreads and you could probably do a beautiful photo showing the texture and sculptural quality of the type with lighting.

I really like the scar book. Spreadsheets would be good because it did look pretty cool, but maybe some blurb of info on it?
