Aw man I just finished watching all the cutscenes. Brought back so many good memories of this game, and also the time of my life when it did come out. Thanks man, much obliged for reviving these thoughts. AC4 was arguably one of the most emotional games I've played, right up there with the earlier FF series and MGS. Namco, please revive Mobius 1 and the Yellow Squadron for Ace Combat 7.
@927natalie By the sound of it, no. Yellow Thirteen accepted his fate. He said himself that he ' would not mind being shot down by someone like him.' [Mobius 1]. Our narrator didn't hold any hate for Mobius 1, in fact it seems more like he is writing to assure Mobius 1 that Yellow Thirteen held no hate for him, to forgive him for doing what he had to do. I think Yellow 13 would be disappointed in the officers who seized Megalith more then upset at his own death.
Oh, they did in Ace Combat Zero, in the extra mission where you shoot down all the squadrons. If you shoot everyone down fast enough, you get to fight against Mobius 1 instead of the last Squad.
I dont believe all of yellow squadron was destroyed in fact i believe it was made way before ac4 . Back in ACZ i saw a plane that had the same design as the yellow planes. in ac5 i saw a yellow flying through the tunnle in mission 27. and i even saw one in ac6
I like AC5 story much better. Even as quoted, in AC04 you are just an pilot ace in a meaningless war. In AC5, you bring peace to the worlds 2 superpowers.
You are a pilot, but the story allowed the player to view war from the perspective of both the enemy and the allie, which is what I think made it truly unique. It never struck me as a war story, more a moral lesson of the good we fail to see in the world.
@khoavuong What 'bout ACZero? In Ace Combat 4 you only took out one ace squadron. In Zero, you take out dozens of war veterans and your buddy turned traitor in his superplane.
Somehow, Cipher and Mobius One is reflecting each other. I mean, both are legends in their own ways. Mobius is like the true protector of the skies while Cipher is a demon lord that oppose him.

One of the few games stories were I empathized with my enemy. 13 and 4 were true warriors.

I Wonder if Bandai-Namco will revive Mobius1? That would be like icing on the cake. =P

AC4 was great fun to play but it was the backstory and hand-drawn cutscenes that made it special. A PS2 classic in my mind.

AC5 made you feel like a hero, but 04 made you feel like a legend. Corny, but true.

Hardly anyone has respect for Shattered Skies what with all the CG movies, but they lack the feeling of the drawn pictures and the narration of 4.

Ah that was nice. I never could get past the fifth (or maybe sixth) mission of AC4. I suck so bad at those games. /:
Little confused, but eh, I suspect I should be. You get a lot more info actually playing the game.
