  • fab film. great guy. what more can I say?

  • I'm going to buy a bicycle!

  • He just came out as a gay man

  • @Clemburke1111 So what?

  • wow. more of that intro scot accent... i adore it.

hey, of course, thanks for the inspiration Graeme!

  • Really good film. Peace.

  • "At a moment of negativity, your an inspiration to me"

  • Is an absolute legend.

    What an inspirational man.

  • nice chatting to graham last year at Dumfries' cycling festival. i missed him at the Burns' Centre, where he introduced his film the flying scotsman though :-(

  • Saw the film the other evening - truly inspirational - I wish him all the best.

  • Saw the film last night. What a great inspirational film. Lucky that it was on the BBC as I will be able to get my pals to watch it over the iplayer (or get the DVD from amazon) I have just ordered his book that the film was based on, looking forward to reading it. I would have thought that this story would have been known throughout the land as an example of what talent, effort and bags of discipline can achieve.

  • cant believe i hadnt heard of him before that film. WHAT A MAN !

  • Just watched "The Flying Scotsman" truely amazing film. Sad re the hanging scene..we were all preying..thank you for being an honest, sincere Sportsman Graeme. You are truely loved..well by us in our wee flat anyway! Thanks for posting!

  • is there any footage of his actual races? just watchd the movie too it was well gd

  • One of the top sports stars of all time, TOTAL LEGEND.

  • I just watched The Flying Scotsman ,movie about Obree tonite.Boy,I was in tears to see how his life was such a mixed with joy and sadness.

He beats all the odds by doing something good, cycling. God bless him and his family.Don't care if he is a bipolar or not, that's a part of life when someone has a bad childhood like him.

  • Yuo know there are 2 scottish cyclists and both forgotten this guy and robert millar, both shunned, its a complete mystery as to why.

  • ive been a rider since 85 and im 36...millar was great and shouild have won the vuelta in 85....millar distanced himself from the sport. His lifestyle choice is what shunned him away...I dont have a problem with it whats so ever...but he himself was very hard to find and when they founs him they discoverd his lifestyle change, he obviously wants to be left alone because we have heard nothing from him..fair enough, he was a hell of a rider in his time.

  • Millar was shunned as He spoke his mind and did not like the people that ran British cycling. Also the money to fund coaching ran out so he was not wanted.

His personal life should not come into it.

  • original riding style...

    home made ride...

    breaking world record...

what else CAN I dscribe bout this guy he is a 'LEGEND'.

  • for every 'LEGEND' there's 10 people that might have been but never got a bike, but still a legend

  • i saw the movie, and loved it. I got so mad at the kimquats that tried to bully Graeme's way out of the sport(by micromanaging the rules) I wanted to slap them silly.

But Graeme won out in the end, which made ne happy.

    Peace, everyone!

  • Graeme is going for the indoor record again in late 2009 on a bicycle he built with a slightly longer frame. All forms of aero bars, disc wheels, etc. have been outlawed by the UCI, so this longer bike will allow him to have a slightly forward, more aerodynamic posture. I hope he breaks the indoor one hour record, now standing at 30.7 miles. Eddy Mercx, who won the Tour five times, claimed that the indoor attempt was his hardest ride. GO GRAEME, WE LOVE YOU!

  • hes the one who invented the superman position right..

  • yes he is

  • Just watched the movie, excellent but he was born in england has an english ma and pa, but he's scottish;)

  • thats because he knows its better to be Scottish

  • I had the distinct pleasure of sharing a room w. Graeme many times, including at the Atlanta Games. It's a good movie, worth seeing, but it doesn't do justice to the enormity of what he achieved.

He sure is a funny guy though, and quite remarkable.

    SW

  • Respect

  • he is speaking English in a regional Ayrshire, west of scotland accent,

its is still the queens english

  • and what may i ask is your regional dialect ?

  • I can't get a single word!!! :O

    Very strange.

  • Comment removed

  • ur mums a redneck. graeme obree is a legend

  • i am from scotland and i really like cycling butu are the most amazing cycling i have ever heard off lance armstrong ussed to be my hero but now ur mine

  • Not a redneck at all I am french and I dont understand his accent, he is a brilliant rider and some of his techniques are still used today. WHy do you have to resort to name calling I was stating a fact that I cant understand what he says but I wish I could perhaps you could create the subtitles for people who may have a heard time understanding.

  • french redneck

  • I dont knwo what redneck means sorry I am white

  • If u did't understand, why the fuck did you bother commenting?. People hate random comments like that

  • Your comment is random are you an angry pirate thats what he sounds like.

  • @djeasye1973

go and drown yourself, ignorant French prick. Belgian, Swiss, Canadian, Marseille accents all vary-same differences in English. Can't cater to every french fool in the world can we now?

Ou, va te faire enculer avec une arme... Angry pirate?

  • What? I'm from Texas and I understand him and he is not a redneck. You dipshit! A redneck is someone who spends time out on the tractor listening to country music, is uneducated, has a rap sheet, drinks cheap beer, and drives and old beat up chevy truck. Hell no matter what color you are you can be one!

  • ok well I am no of the things you said so I guess I am not a redneck, hey why do they always say dont mess with Texas? and another quesion if a couple get a divorce in Texas are they still brother or sister?

  • Great Movie!

Can't belive that he has got one of the Swiss Cow Puma shirts. Do they sell the also outside of Switzerland?

  • Yes, they do. I'm brazilian and I saw this t-shirt here too.

  • To Break the hour record was incredible but to have the courage to write and publish your book and do it in the way that you did shows what truly exceptional human being you have become. From one who has experienced a little of what you have been through, thank you.

  • and on a bike that he made himself ha its amazing

  • Graham, you are the best! Bar none! I read about your destruction of the world hour record and was humbled. You are an inspiration.

  • he is amazing ! GO FOR THE RECORD AGAIN !! he is my dads friend aswell x

  • cool!!!!!

  • really.

  • Yep!

  • I remember Marshalling at a Fullarton Wheeler's Christmas 10 mile time trial a few years after 1993.

Graham glided down the slip road onto the A78 on the opposite side of the road from me and about 19 mins later there he was coming up the off ramp having finished the time trial on a cold damp and windy day.

Great Cyclist and a Great Scot

  • Just watched the film and could remember Graeme when he first did the record. Brilliant achievement and what an inspiration to all Scots out there. Pity we didn't have him Playing at Hampden park last night when we lost to Italy

    10/10 From Fred

  • He is AWESOME!!! Loved the movie. Bought my bike in his shop. Pity they didn't get the settings right, lot of it is supposed to be in Irvine.

  • extra writers.

  • Geeeso! You jist sumply cannie beat the guy! He's pure dead brill...

  • What does he say?

  • Kewlios

  • LEGEND

  • Good movie, inspirational man. May he find inner peace.

  • Inspiring guy, even moreso after reading his book.

  • Just watched the movie last night, Graeme Obree has to be one of Scotlands greatest unsung heroes ever. I hope he realises how much he has done to inspire people. Great to see him so happy and relaxed in this clip.

  • What a Legend!! Obree deserves every praise and respect. He is still Kicking young pretenders backsides today on a regular basis!!!

  • Graeme obree rocks. Its pissing with rain BIG TIME. But i think ill go ride (just what i needed to hear). Obree =LEGEND!!!
