this reminds me of the chinese fable of the frog who lives in the well, and tempts the sea turtle to join him, because the frog wrongly believes the well is amazing and wonderful, in light of his ignorance of all the incomphrensible vastness of the sea. Overall i did like it, but i don't think the end was as Plato meant. Plato meant that if a philosopher understands the truth, it doesn't mean everyone else wants to live in ignorance, it's just that they haven't seen the truth themselves. And that's why they don't believe him. BTW i think Plato made this story for philosophers like his teacher Socrates, who got killed for ruining the youth with his theories. Which is like knowing the truth but everyone else thinking you tell lies.
