@199FOE 720, but youtube does alot of tough compression on the video when is uploaded, so i guess i looks better on your computer before you uploaded it.
@199FOE I thought so ;) but you wouldent get any comments if you just watch the video on your computer desktop would you, hehe thats why we have to put it up here .
Your video is awesome...the best I've seen so far. I'm looking into getting this camera, hence my watching your video. After watching, I'm convinced this is the camera that I need.
@Vahkil sorry for the double comment don't know why it glitched. I only asked once. Just to clear things up. Also thanks for the info. I'm kinda rushing due to the fact I'm going to a concert and I need good video gear. so any and all help is great.
hey, ive been looking at this camera for a while now because my sony dcr-sr42 wont sync with my imovie and i cant upload any videos or any audio. would you happen to know if canons have a good relationship with imovie? thanks alot, i appreciate it.
@LooneyM3 Canon's are the best camcorders under 900 bucks, get a canon, if not this then get a HF R10 which is pretty much the same, Newer model with an 8GB built in mem... Never buy an off brand camcorder, Canon, Sony, Or high end Panasonic's only...
I can not seem to get the files from my HF100 to play on my computer. They seem like they are too big or something? They lag and do not run smoothly at all..any ideas?
very awesome video! I think this is the low light test I was looking for! Did you use any special affects, adjustments or tweaks when you input it into your computer? Or is this raw footage?
If you can get a newer model, I think they've revamped the button placement and menu function to make them much better. This is just from my experience piddling with one on display in the store a few months after I bought the HF100.
i love this camera! i edit in imovie but im curious about how you exported this video.. mine end up pretty compressed and have most of the quality taken out.
hey man I just got the same camera and i made a video test inspired on yours i will post it to let everyone see the more about this camera can do in a good hands
I love the mood of this footage and the particular sequence of the shots. Though the music is very repetitive, it works very well. When seeing it for the first time using standard definition, I was disappointed with the picture quality, but in HD mode it's astounding.
How do you prevent the dark areas of the shot from appearing grainy?
I have the Vixia HF200 and when I shoot in low light (tried both cinema and night modes), the output looks nothing as clear as yours. The dark areas look hazy/grainy.
For example, the street scene at 1:48 of your video. When I shoot like that, the darkness appears grainy. Thanks for your help.
that manual focos sucks then? is it my computer or it don't look so good in lowlight? im thinking on getting this camera but i have to know every detail beacause i'd be spending all my savings on it
HEy there, i have the same camera, got it about month ago, TIGHT isn't it!! Your footage looks good, although i think you should lower the contrast when on the train, the people faces are toooooo bright, and I see the saturation effect you done, looks good. The noise is taking away from the beautiful HD footage a little, you should undo the sharpening edit or whatever you did.
Manual focus is cumbersome. You toggle it by pushing in the joystick button on the flipout screen. Then press down on the joystick until you reach focus. Then press up to enable Manual Focus.. Then press left or right repeatedly to adjust focus. Yeah, like I said.
It has some pretty nice HD picture quality, but I noticed some artifact-ing on the light-shine of the train coming in. Really, not a good thing on a camera. I'm looking to buy a nice HD camera that performs well under low light conditions. But, I don't want to spend a packet, and I would prefer DV. I've heard bad things about HDD HD camcorders...
Thanks for the footage though, I've narrowed my selection down.
I have the same HF100 and have to say, that it brings awesome quality, compared to its price and size. It has a size of a cola can! By the way, question to author of this video: why are you using Vegas instead of ImageMixer? Does it save files from camera in better quality? Or do you just use Vegas for making adjustments?
I bought this camera and I love it... quick question though how is Sony Vegas for editing? I bought cyberlink Power Director 7 and its easy to use but I'm not sure if the features are on par w/ Vegas because I know many people seem to use it.
I can see how Vegas is a powerful program. I am not experienced enough with it yet to give a review. I have also used Pinnacle and Windows Movie Maker. It is more professional than pinnacle and heads and tails above WMM.
Mine "lags" too when directly playing the .mts files. I believe it is because it is streaming. When you render your movie, it will be faster. I'm also guessing the lag is dependent on PC power. As far as not being able to drag the files into vegas, did you try browsing to open them?
i just got this camera, how do I save the vids onto my computer? when i drag the vid from my sd card onto my comp, it is .vob file. and it lags like crap. any suggestion?
WOW!!! This is amazing. I wasnt sure if this was the one I wanted, but now I'm convinced. Consider it bought. Thanks for the great vid. Again, this camera video is spectacular!
what did you do to edit this in Vegas 9? Internet high quality? What type of file did you export it as? All exported videos take up ginormous amounts of space. Am I doing something wrong? How long did it take you to upload this to Youtube? Im thinking of taking my hf100 back because even though i have a hp centrino duo with 4g ram it just feels slow.
I am new to Vegas, so there may be more efficient ways to do this. I edited the .MTS files out of the STREAM folder of the SDHC card. I set the frame rate of the project to 29.970 (NTSC)and 1280x720. I then used File/"Render As" and selected a .wmv file with the setting "6Mbps HD 720-30p Video". This file came out to be 127mb. Took a few minutes to upload to youtube.
Fantastic! Thank you so much for replying so promptly! Yes, that is almost exactly the same setup I have been using. Every other format to render makes the files WAY to big for internet. BTW your video is awesome.
Hey I just got this camera and I've been trying to editvthe footage in Sony vegas. What rendering format did you use?
planB091 7 months ago
@planB091 use mp4 for the best. what version of sony vegas do you have? i have sony vegas 9.0 and it dont support the format this camera records in.
