My friends gonna orgasm when he sees this. What is the internet speed of the slowest person that was playing? Did you use a router and or modem? and thx
@0KayJay0 I do know that, but it looks very awkward, and the timings when you play are very different as well. If you knew about 60FPS and don't want to use it, or just can't use it because it's resource-heavy, then my bad man, do as you please, this wasn't a trolling/flaming comment to begin with. ;)
@RysselSmash The Video is only 30 fps without resampling the frames, it does not represent the smoothness in actuall online gameplay. No resampling makes the video look not very smooth but the good thing is that you can pause the video whenever you want and the single frames will look very sharp without any ghosting effect.
I could resample the video and it would look very smooth but also not that sharp anymore and the all known youtube ghosting effect when pausing would be visible.
Also, you can watch my third melee netplay video (watch?v=TyIiQk9AB-s) this video is resampled so if you have good eyes you can see the difference in video rendering.
@0KayJay0 this is simply not true. as a competitive melee player, i can tell a drastic difference playing on 50 fps and 60 fps. i'm assuming this video is of the PAL version (non american release of the game). i've had the opportunity to play it on both setting on a CRT (no lag) television on an actual gamecube and i can attest that they are quite different.
@0KayJay0 plz tell me how u did this then i will go on ebay order a gamecube and super smash bros melee ust to be my favorite game loved it and if u can do this on wii plz tell i will just buy a power cord since my other one got lost then buy melee since my big brother broke it when i pist him off
send me a message and lets get online! (i believe thats how you connect right? through acquiring one anothers ip? if it can run in conjunction with kaillera lemme know how to do so!)
@GrillinMahToast Also, watch my Naruto Dolphin Netplay videos, the 360 Controller in GNT4 doesn't mess up my playstyle and you can see advanced skill with no lag.
"User in your channel timed out" YES! I'm not the only one who uses the text to speech! lol me and my clan buddies would put in random names for the text to speech to read :P
I really want to try this, but I only know a few people with a good enough CPU for this. Also, I'm not really an optimal host, so that would be a challenge.
Just played with a friend and it worked Flawlessly. Although he had around 100 ms, it was still playable. There were lag spikes here and there, but no desync. Think it would be nice to have a dedicated server up for dolphin netplay. Instead of hosting a server off my computer =p.
Well I can't answer that since I'm the only one who can host (the other 2 guys don't know how to open ports correctly)
I have a pretty fast connection (30Mbit Downloadspeed, 4MBit Uploadspeed) but I think for 4 players you don't need more than 0,5Mbit uploadspeed.
The ping is what's important. At 30ms - 60ms ping you can play with gamepad buffer 3 (2 players) or gamepad buffer 6 (3 players) which feels like offline play.
Hey, Okayjay0. What settings did you use exactly? Like what graphic/sound settings and so on. I have tried numerous times to use netplay. It always desnycs even with the svn your using too! Let me know, thank you.
All players need the identical savestate to stay on sync. (on the video it's my original savefile uploaded from my memory card to PC via USB Gecko)
Also, all players must be able to play on fullspeed all the time, a fps drop can cause desync, the 50 hz mode on pal games helps so they only need constantly 50 fps to stay on full speed. So if they don't get constantly full speed offline, there is no chance to playing them via netplay without desync.
@0KayJay0 Thanks for the info. This is truly amazing and i'm surprised that Dual Core mode actually works with netplay now =D. Really, you made a nice discovery my friend. For DSP settings you have Audio throttle enabled correct? I think that is needed to stay in sync too.

Is there an active online community for online melee? I figure it would get boring playing the same people over and over again.

@RysselSmash Read the description.
0KayJay0 6 months ago
@0KayJay0 You state that 50FPS is the max speed, when it isn't. What else is there to be read?
RysselSmash 6 months ago
@RysselSmash SSBM 50hz mode skips frames from 60 to 50 fps, the gameplay speed stays identical.

jhcreinhardt 1 month ago
@jhcreinhardt You forget the fact that on the emulator it just emulates the 50hz mode, your TV/Monitor stays on the actual refresh rate (60hz).
0KayJay0 1 month ago
@0KayJay0 hmm i am still confused. if it is emulating the 50hz then how does it display the other 10 frames? are they just left out somehow?
jhcreinhardt 1 month ago
@jhcreinhardt It's the same as when you play a PC game with 50FPS on 60Hz.
Some TVs aren't good in 50Hz so 50FPS @60Hz may look better / more smooth than 50FPS @50Hz.

obviously theres lag I mean how can anybody suck that bad
GrillinMahToast 11 months ago
@GrillinMahToast When you play constantly Brawl+ you will suck at Melee, also playing Melee with an XBox 360 Controller is unnatural and confusing.
There is no noticeable lag, you can easily check it by analysing the reaction time when pressing pause or shield.
