CHchinaman, you make some good points, but regardless of how sanctioned the fights are, or how well fed the dogs are the main point is that unlike a person, they dont have any choice to enter into a dog fight, we make that choice for them, and no matter how sanctioned or well run dog fights are, theres still a lot of variables and lots of things that can can go wrong. Really, when it comes down to it, its wrong to force an animal to fight. Period.
these dogs enjoy fighting contact, i have witnessed it with Bulldogs that haven't been raised for fighting at all. my boy has it and he doesn't even come from a fighting bloodline
aggression has nothing to do with enjoyment. if they learn that aggression means they don't get killed by another dog, you can bet they're going to do it again. they have learned that aggression gets them what they want: life and the affection of their owner. dogs don't have to be bred for fighting to show aggression.

if you're only reading books about fighting dogs, of course you're going to think they're all dog aggressive. surely they talk about curs in there, as well? in any litter of ANY breed there are going to be some dogs more prone to aggression and some that are more dog tolerant. you can develop it either way by reinforcing dog tolerant behavior or reinforcing aggressive behavior. any dog can learn that aggression can get them what they want if no one teaches them different.
i don't think, i KNOW. even the curs show aggression, but they don't have the courage to fight. you also have to consider that for any breed, there will be dogs that donot want to perform the tast their breed was BRED TO DO. fighting is in this breed's blood. whether they really are a mixture of the Old English Bulldog and terriers or the Old Bulldog itself, these dogs have proven to be lovers of hunting and fighting. case closed
the curs show aggression because they are terrified and doing anything they can to convince the other dog not to attack them! i have personally seen two different pit bulls getting attacked by another dog (one a shepherd mix, the other time a cattle dog mix) who only screamed and ran from the other dog. guide dogs are bred to guide the blind, but hundreds flunk out of guide dog school every year because they're not interested in the work. any breed is capable of being trained to fight.
any breed can be trained to fight, but that doesn't mean they can handle it. the Bulldog is the best fighting dog out there because of it's gameness, something other breeds lack. and if curs were terrified, why do they simply lunge at other dogs like a non-cur? real cur dogs (any other breed,including wolves) just snarl, show their teeth, ect. you saw curs, big deal. this conversation is null and void because we both are stubborn about our opinions

He is actually holding an American Staffordshire Terrier, but it doesn't matter its such an amazing dog and pits and amstaffs are pretty much brothers anyway. CHchinaman, you make some good points, but regardless of how sanctioned the fights are, or how well fed the dogs are the main point is that unlike a person, they dont have any choice to enter into a dog fight, we make that choice for them, and no matter how sanctioned or well run dog fights are, theres still a lot of variables and lots of things that can can go wrong. Really, when it comes down to it, its wrong to force an animal to fight. Period.

aggression has nothing to do with enjoyment. if they learn that aggression means they don't get killed by another dog, you can bet they're going to do it again. they have learned that aggression gets them what they want: life and the affection of their owner. dogs don't have to be bred for fighting to show aggression.

first off, i'm not a dog man or some low level street thug. real dog men take care of their dogs. look at Boudreaux and Faron. when they were raided, all their dogs were healthy and happy, just scarred up from their past fights. street thugs like vick's buddies never take care of their dogs, that's why they are always worm infested and whatnot. real dog men use rules to keep their dogs from dying. the APBT has been fighting (and enjoying it) for hundreds of years. do real research

first off it's called a Pit Bull, Pit Bulldog, Bulldog or APBT. the fact that you called it a "pitbull" only says to me that your brother had some poorly bred mongrel that isn't a real APBT. secondly, you're right, an APBT doesn't turn on it's owner for no reason, but matching dogs DOES NOT make them turn. feeding it crap like hot pepper sauce to make it mean like hood kids do will. these dogs choose to fight, trust me. i have done REAL research, i have read REAL books. education is wonderful

Trust me I know about the game and the people involved and this pretty picture they paint about the game is about the dogs that win them money, do you know what they do to the ones that lose? Pit bulls come in all shapes and sizes some bred more for the terrier look and some more for the bully look thats all. I would draw the line at the very over-weight and unhealthy ones and dont think they deserve the pit bull title. For me Andrei's dog is a bullier type pit bull.

Im glad u love your dog and look after him well thats what they deserve. Appreciate their past and whats made them, but why get involved in a sport which was out lawed so long ago and was done when there was nothing better to do over 1000 years ago? These dogs do fight, but its not natural for them 2 die from exhaustion and blood loss, they would eventually reach a point where they would turn away and be submissive but dog fighters dont allow them 2 do that and the dogs do as their master says!

No they dont punish the dog but the dog is of no use to them, so their methods of getting rid of their dogs are NOT to take them to them to the vets and have them humanely euthanised, because they lost in the pit and nore do they nurse them better to put them up for adoption. You have your views and I shall respect that too. The original game was no better than the game today.

When people say that Pitbulls are instinctive to attack, it proves that they only know what they're told by other morons. Pitbulls aren't aggressive by nature, they're only flaw is that they have a very strong will to follow through with any task put before them, whatever it may be. if you're only reading books about fighting dogs, of course you're going to think they're all dog aggressive. surely they talk about curs in there, as well? in any litter of ANY breed there are going to be some dogs more prone to aggression and some that are more dog tolerant. you can develop it either way by reinforcing dog tolerant behavior or reinforcing aggressive behavior. any dog can learn that aggression can get them what they want if no one teaches them different.

i don't think, i KNOW. even the curs show aggression, but they don't have the courage to fight. you also have to consider that for any breed, there will be dogs that donot want to perform the tast their breed was BRED TO DO. fighting is in this breed's blood. whether they really are a mixture of the Old English Bulldog and terriers or the Old Bulldog itself, these dogs have proven to be lovers of hunting and fighting. case closed

the curs show aggression because they are terrified and doing anything they can to convince the other dog not to attack them! i have personally seen two different pit bulls getting attacked by another dog (one a shepherd mix, the other time a cattle dog mix) who only screamed and ran from the other dog. guide dogs are bred to guide the blind, but hundreds flunk out of guide dog school every year because they're not interested in the work. any breed is capable of being trained to fight.

any breed can be trained to fight, but that doesn't mean they can handle it. the Bulldog is the best fighting dog out there because of it's gameness, something other breeds lack. and if curs were terrified, why do they simply lunge at other dogs like a non-cur? real cur dogs (any other breed,including wolves) just snarl, show their teeth, ect. you saw curs, big deal. this conversation is null and void because we both are stubborn about our opinions

Actually they were, from the original oldde english bulldogs, and a fox terrier to comebine the ultimate dog with tenacity, speed an the brute strength. Originally used for bullFighting the pitbull later became used in pit fighting rings or dog fighting.

The dog was never bread for that purpose. Hence bull baiting and dog fighting were banned many years ago in Britian. The settlers brought the dog over with them where they turned the smaller staffordshire bull terrier into the american pittbull terrier and later the american staffordshire terrier, which I own. The breed was intended to be used for catch dogs , ranch companions, and to drive livestock. Heres a link.First paragraph. I have plenty of books if you would like to learn your facts.
