How did you get the full HD? I currently use a MBP 17" and using iMovie 08 I think. Also I have to use an SD card reader to get anything from the panasonic onto my laptop, the usb just seem to not work without the software which, last time I checked, is not available for mac. Please help?

You mean the manual focusing?

I generally use the auto one as when the manual one is used it just makes it blurry most of the time.

Cool, what sort of filming are you gonna try and do with the camera? Its incredible on highest settings around noon to dusk. Its a bit noisy (picture noise) at night. And its photo taker isnt really usable, its something like 0.3MP.

So yea if your filming holiday films or wtv this is great!

It uses SD cards that are Class 4 or higher.

If it were mini-dv it wouldn't be capable of HD. It uses SD Cards, but you'd need a large 8gig one.

Either, or. I used auto on this but you can use manual control if you really want to control the depth of field in certain scenes.

Quality seems very nice, more or less what I had expected. I will be getting a camera within a month now, and with this as the best contender to the title, I only have one question really:

The movie seems a bit laggy, as if the FPScount is down to 10 or even lower. Is this due to youtube or maybe due to editing the movie in a program?

The lag only occurs on youtube, it may be the video editing software i use (imovie) however i highly expect its because of youtube, because when i play back on the computer its clear and crisp at around 25-35 fps.

The file i finally uploaded to youtube was a HD quicktime file converted on imovie. Final Cut can also handle with AVCHD files

Hey sorry for the slow response the remote is well, a remote im not quite sure how to review a remote seeing as i dont tend to use them much of the time. Anyway its great at very close range and great and long distances, the stabilizer also helps the footage look a lot more pro and prevents all of those little twitches our under evolved hands seem to have.

According to camcoderinfo, HV30 is better but it's more expensive of course. HV30 is way better in low light performance, but it has only 1 CCD. Panasonic's optical stabilization is a bit better according to the site, but it's handling and controls are not really convenient, you have to try that out for yourself.

There is nothing wrong with the handling of controls of this except that the zoom is not right next to the record button. This is basically the camera for holidays and day light home movies.

I figured out how to convert to MPEG2 using the bundled software(which pretty much sucks). At some point I wouldn't mind being able to upload HD vids like this one.

I can't view the videos on my PC unless I use the crappy software included. How can I save viewable movie files to my PC? Keep in mind I'm not terribly computer savvy, but usually ok if pointed in the right direction.

Unfortunately i had the same problem, if you have a mac imovie will find it straight away, or get the latest version of final cut it should be able to read AVCHD. Ask around other people may have other ways.

Seancrady i recommend downloading Cyberlink - Power director 7 via a torrent website. In the software you can convert the original footage into MPEG2, it is really good quality. This is the method the user named 'stigmoules' uses his videos are in the related videos>>

I used imovie'08 its really good at knowing when you plug the camera in. I haven't tried it yet with a PC. I would recommend trying to get the latest version of Final cut on a torrent with the key. It renders the footage even better.

Really nice picture! Is it true that class 4 SDHC cards are enough for 17Mbps? and how about the new 32GB cards, did you try them?

Can you charge the battery while the camera is on or do you have to use a backup battery?

Well yea you can plug the camera in whilst the battery is charging but its not practical.
