  • does anyone know why maiko kikuyu wasnt there at the time of filming becuase she is a fully fledged geiko now but in this documentary she isnt there ?

  • @marinawha She looks like a giant monster. For the first time, I think I'm afraid to visit Japan.

  • I hate seiza...

  • how do you apply to this okiya?

  • What is the name of the mother and the Okiya ? Please !

    Arigato

  • @MCT326 This is the hanagiku okiya. They are often featured on shows like this. The okiya runs also a henshin studio if you want to visit them

  • @jojiojp arigato ! ^^

  • @jojiojp tought it was the hanahusa ? The one Kikuyu attended? I may be wrong.

  • @jojiojp Tought it was the hanafusa okiya, the one Kikuyu attended?

  • @kirstyana It is the same this Kirstyana, so you are right. hanafusa is the okiya hanagiku is the studio. This lady runs them both and they are connected...probably the stuff they dressed dawn in is from the studio side though (considering that she steps on the hiki etc)

  • @jojiojp Okay :) Yeh I would guess it wasentt he one the maiko used lol :)

  • dawn and all of them girls are hot, even the granny lol

  • Such a pity Dawn Porter didn't simply ASK the okaasan about sitting seiza (kneeling). "Kneeling is the traditional geisha posture, symbolizing subservience"? Sorry, but that's rot. Until the Meiji restoration, all Japanese sat seiza because their homes had tatami-mat floors and they didn't use chairs! Seiza is still used throughout the traditional arts, including tea ceremony which is completely dominated by men at the uppermost ranks. Porter is just projecting "subservience" on her hosts.

  • Maybe she means subservience towards showing respect toward one another, not necessarily toward men or clients.

  • It's a big bum. lol.

  • that was on tv the other nite the gesias are so cute but their lives are so so strict and that girl of 17 wow she is sweet

  • ahahahaha

    fail

  • aww they look so cute in their little kimonos!

    i wish i was Japanese! T-T

  • Thank you! :)

  • I think that's really smart marketing. That okaasan knows how to make money and how to keep interest in the Geisha tradition alive.

  • another kiku-girls from Hanafusa okiya documentary?? Thats kinda strange...
