  • Great movie... The music is even better. Len Barry starts it off with "123" from 1965.

  • OMG

What's amazing song start at 3:44?????

  • I saw this film during my first year at the teacher´s training college and has stuck with me ever since!! It clearly sets the path on what teaching is all about, Love dedication and passion for what you do!!! And I may add Being flexible and capable to adapt to your students, yet trying not to loose your own beat!! Cheers for these fantastic movie and amazing actors!!

  • this was a true story right?

  • Coincidentally, my symphonic band's conductor's name is Mr. Holland.

  • I can so relate to his first day as a teacher. I got the same reaction from my students.

  • im only 13 and ive composed 4 long pieces of music. see you in the hall of greats mr holland.

  • @danpluswife Damn dude, lol. I'm 16 and I've the feintest idea on composing. Of course, I'm more into performing than writing.

  • @bluebelt224

its really hard but after awhile it gets easier plus in australian music classes we learn composing. and i major in it!

  • Far too idealistic to be watchable a second time. It's as predictable as knowing what number comes after '1' when counting.

  • my music teacher would always make us watch this every year for music class and I can't help but get excited over this movie. It's soo good, and meaningful <3

  • mis respetos para esa pelicula me encanto :) <3

  • @geniodrums Please speak in english not to be racist or anything thanks.

  • love this movie man<3 :p

  • He reminds me of Ned Flanders

  • this is a good movie. i went to go get the sound track over at hastings.

  • I though I was a though guy ... I cried :)

  • Whenever I bring up Richard Dreyfuss in a conversation, nobody has any clue as to who the hell I'm talking about. Pity for them, he's such an underrated gem of an actor.

  • This movie is so moving !!! I can relate to Mr. Holland

  • My music teacher showed me this movie its good idk why other kids didn't like it.

  • My music teacher showed this movie to us when I was in seventh grade in Middle School!!

  • "Unsafe at any speed" came out in 1965. Supposedly, at the start of the film, this story starts in 1964. Major F-up on the part of the writer!

  • Thank U for uploading.

  • Ever notice from the first part to the later part of the film where Mr. Holland says "Beethoven wasn't born deaf" how Richard Dreyfuss looks like whow he looked in American Graffiti? He was great in that film, Jaws and he was (in my opinion) at his best in this film. I wish I could find the DVD of this, though.

  • @MrPman851 Watch Once Around with Holly Hunter. This is another one of Richard Dreyfuss jewels. One of

his other best. Always is another one of his great movies. This man is an amazing talent, and now he has

a small part in the television series Parenthood.

  • @MrPman851 Try Disney movie club. You might find Mr. Holland's Opus on DVD.

  • @TheCopper05 thanks!

  • this is kinda like school of rock but more serious

  • Total Classic!

  • Oh, I love this movie. I remember seeing it in the theater in Damariscotta, Maine in 1995 with my friend. We were both 11 years old. My dad bought me the soundtrack for Christmas that year. :-)

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! tha soooooooooo much

  • Our band director's name is Mr. Holland.

  • when he writes his name on the black board check out the A first it's rounded then it's pointed then back again.

  • classic

  • IS IT ME or the vice principal supposed to look like hank hill from king of the hill

  • この映画大好きです^^

  • I have the movie on VHS and not DVD yet, but question is why this movie not yet available to download off Itunes and Amazon that's what I'm concern.

  • I think this is a great movie as it talks about life really. Not about the music, but how life can change, people you know come and go.

  • I love William H. Macy in this Role as School President :o))

  • What kind of people have to go to work at 730 in the morning?

  • My daughter's middle school band director was in a band and writing their music. He took a side job as a band director and 30 years later.....

When he told me this I said "You are Mr. Holland." His reply was "Absolutely."

  • this moive makes me glad that i play flut

  • This is a great movie and while Im not a fan of Richard Dreyfuss I think he gives a great performance.

  • This movie is awesome..I can watch it over and over..it's my fav..but, I am a music person and teh soundtrak is GREAT

  • if Im correct the opening scene takes place in the 1960s

  • This movie just has to be one of my all-time favorite movies. This is really a gorgeous movie

  • I just watched this in music class today now we have to do a report about it :(

  • Really? o.O I would have loved to do something like that when I was still in school. Just watch the movie - if you like music at least a little bit, writing this report won't be hard ^^

  • Yea but I am not the music kind of kid I am averaging a 66% in music that isn't to good :(

  • I have a D+ in my band class, but that is because I never turn in practice sheets.

  • This film is so nostalgic, and the acting is superb and convincing. Jean-Louisa Kelly has such an amazing voice!

  • Ahh, such a classic!

  • i think most of us know the trouble teachers are having not only because of the media but many of us had teachers complain about it to us when we were in school. though it can be a thankless job full of stress and crap there is a chance some of the kids you taught got a lot out of it and even though they haven't told you im sure they are grateful for it. hope you are in a better job now though

  • It's a remarkable little composition really. It begins with a few trite opening "music school" notes that quickly crescendo to a major symphonic orchestra sound. However when I first saw this movie I vividly remembered the fade out at 2:43. Incredibly nostalgic, with the piano echoing the notes of a bygone academic era.

  • Katee Sackhoff's talked about being an extra on this movie - I believe that's her walking past Holland in the hall, carrying the books.

  • awesome movie

  • This movie was my favorite ever since I was introduced to this back in high school and it became an inspiration for me in life and with my love of music and it taught how I can conduct

  • I think of my band teacher when I watch this. He has the movie poster in his room, and it's his favourite movie.

  • This movie shows what a great actor Richard Dreyfuss is. I remember watching this film in 7th grade English & thinking what a unique & touching film it was.

  • I've wanted to see this movie for so long! thx!

  • Richard Dreyfuss's tour de performance!!! :D

    thanks for posting!!

  • Due to some copyright problems with MGM, part 8 and 13 have been taken down. The reason for the copyright: The music in the clips!? The songs: I've Got A Woman and The Pretender are in those 2 clips and I guess they belong to MGM. So they deleted the audio in the video clips. I just decided to take down the clips because watching a movie without audio would be very boring. But if I get a bunch of responses saying that you want the clips still up without the audio, I will put them back up.

  • Thank you anyway, you have done a tremendous job posting so many parts of this movie, I have been looking for it for a very long time, thanks lol

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov How about taking out the audio just for the performance parts? but keeping the clips up anyhow.

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov actually you can put the vids but it's just that under description you got to give credits to the producer.

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov

Dude you should totally put them back up! I used to ride a long distance bus route 4-6x per month for 2-3hrs each ride. Never wanted to pay $5 for the headphones, and always forgot my own, but man did I ever watch a lot of movies w/out sound! Totally unique experience, but doesn't take too much away.

    You should put 'em up!

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov May be you can sub it for us. :D

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov

I have no idea how they found the movie here... I'm sure it has nothing to do with your username. ;-)

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov MGM? Wasnt this made by the walt disney company?

  • @MrHollandsOpusMov Me too. It doesn't seem like a two hour movie at all. Every scene is well done, and the soundtrack outside and within the movie is absolutely amazing. Some of the best pieces of music. Immortal Beloved still beats this movie out. And possibly Copying Beethoven, but I do think it's better than Amadeus, mainly because the little Mozart was a spoiled little highly talented annoying brat.... IMMORTAL BELOVED is a MUST. Y am I tellin yall this. I'm sure you all know bout em

  • I freakin' love this movie!

  • I remember seeing this in theaters in 1995...such a good movie, and still one of my faves to this day.

  • i love this movie!! i love to make music-not just listening to it on the radio. i love to play the piano. this movie is the perfect tribute to music, musicians,(REAL music)and it also represents people who have special gifts/talents and maybe even learning disabilities who are also gifted-like the girl with the red hair.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Thanks a million for this!!

  • OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been wanting to see it for EVER!!
