  • You are great!!!!

  • My mom recent passed away from recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the base of the tongue. the dr said it was locally metastatic when it was first diagnosed. involved two small lymphnodes on the same side as the neck. one term I keep hearing is differentiated. What does this mean? What does well differentiated and poorly differentiated mean in terms of prognosis?

  • both well and poorly are bad, but "poorly" is worse

  • Thanks for the explanation. Moms particular cancer had been "successfully" treated and had gone away and remained gone for about a year and a half. and then this past march it came back and got her 32 days in the hospital due to it growing out of control and obstructing her airway. she died under hospice on june 7th. I know poorly differentiated cancers are typically much more aggressive, and I have been wondering if the recurrence was poorly differentiated.

  • you are awesome thank you for the education

  • Very interesting! Thanks!

  • good
