  • My bet is we are a part of some other living being. Our whole universe is a small part of how this creature/thing works. Its like us looking at reactions that occur in the stomach during digestion. To us, its fast and small. For the 'greater' whole, its also the same. Universes probably happen all the time, and they probably call it a chemical reaction or something =p

  • Very interesting

  • Great..but he talk to fast

  • Ephesians 2:8,9 thou shalt believe in science because it is fact

  • @GrandIsClutch but only if thou have conducted intensive peer review.

  • Natural sciences (astrophysics, biology etc) do not aim at denying god. They just aim at the rediculous way the traditional religions describe god (burning bushes, Noah's Arch, a fingersnip made complex living beings out of nothing and all that). Gravitation, nuclear fusion in stars, abiogenesis, evolution of life over billion of years by extreme little steps according to the forces natural sciences describe... THAT just is the godly way. Btw: Why do creationists use GPS? Isn't it devilry?

  • Here's my 2 cents. If this all thing was creted why all this empty space that serves nothing ? You can't have an intelligent being making the universe with so many emptyness that serves nothing and for anybody

  • @gearsiborg Your statement presumes quite a bit that is missing from the evidence. First, you presume that all of the vast emptiness of space serves no purpose. You have no data to support that statement. Second, you fail to consider that the emptiness of space might be necessary for the non-empty "stuff" to function correctly. Third, you presume that no intelligent Creator would make so much emptiness; again, you have no data to support that statement. That is an unscientific opinion.

  • the univese his seed infinty god created

  • 11:04 kind of looks like brain nuerons or human tissue of some sort.

  • @wheelori814 11:20 Just went to psyche biology lecture yesterday and thought that same thing (:

  • Thumbs up if you remember this guy's name from The Big Bang Theory.

Sheldon: George Smoot is a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, one of the great minds of our time. His work in black body form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation cemented our understanding of the origin of the universe.

Penny: It’s kind of a funny name, though, Smoot.

Sheldon: It’s like talking to a chimp.

  • we don't see the universe with telescopes. we see surfaces. if you look at a wall inside a cave, do you see the whole universe? no you don't. you see only a thin surface. heat cooling and gravity does not produce filaments trough gases. thunderbolts do create filaments when they move trough gases. electric currents don't conduct in hard vacuum so they need gases as wires with empty space as insulator. electric current can create lots of heat microwaves and x-rays .

  • What the fuck is this guy talking about? ? ?

  • Our galaxy is in the center? BEAT THAT ATHEISTS! WE ARE AT THE CENTER!

  • @studiousx3 remeber The Catholic Church were trying to fight Galileo for Earth as center of universe while Galileo said it was not?

This is proven how stupid you and your church are.

  • @studiousx3 Logic fails with you.

  • @studiousx3 EVERY location in the universe is the center.

  • @studiousx3 no, its not you retard.

  • A WALL of GALAXIES. How can we even do anything with that? Maybe we should concentrate on our Solar System because, we haven't even got to our nearest Star in our own, single Galaxy yet. And it's got millions of Stars. Soooo like...why are we even looking at this untouchable stuff? Our entire race may not live long enough to leave the Milky Way!

  • We need more photos. No balognie sketches that are inaccurate.

  • Nice science video with lamentable religious comparitions about creation and design... Now we know how the universe could have started and evolved, still not a hint of a creator or designer, nor tools nor anything that can't be explained through physics... this video left me undecided about great video or lame video

  • I dont understand why theres so many religious ppl needing to make problems with stupid coments... I mean, lets say there IS a God, if He actually gave us brains and the ability to wonder and explore things, I dont think what ppl are doing (science) is a bad thing, and im pretty sure our creater would love to see us explore what he made for us anyway >-< and im pretty sure ppl in here know about religion already so no need to tell them the "messages"...

  • Man creates nothing he merely discovers it. It's incumbent upon man to look past the author to the author's intent. author unknown

  • Congratulation to the Million Dollar Winner of "Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader", George Smoot. =D

  • this is nothing new.. ive heard duzzins of people say this same shit.

  • @xjoe1988x well.. many of people live everyday being the biggest ego in their lives... not knowing we are a part of something so big and astonishing. not wondering how are we blessed with this opportunity of LIFE and living, and mind for understanding what we and from where we are. .

i really am happy every time i see reminders like this =)

  • Pretty good film, shows again just how small we are. Shame there are so many comments about God and Christianity etc. Surely religions were established just to keep and bind societies together.

  • The universe was born with the inherent ability to give birth to newer, better universes. It does not love us or care that we exist. Its only inclination is to recreate itself in future randomized derivative incarnations with the potential to achieve superintelligence.

  • amazing stuff.. they say even a small part of matter contains the patterns of the whole universe.. those animations of the galaxies remind me of a road map of any city, which makes me think of a circulatory system...

  • whats with all the religious douche bags on here.Because your all to stupid to see past your own hate of everyone else and science.here goes.Science is the how things happen, not why!So shut up and learn what you were meant to learn.god hates religion and you.

  • @1snkyspy You're a non religious douche bag, which is good. Helps even out the ratio of douchebaggery.

  • @1snkyspy yeah buddy, preach it! there ya go, let out all your hatred for religion. Come on, its okay to get it out. Please, preach to us all some more!

  • 3:03 the moon is 1 sec. away

  • The moon is 1 sec. away

  • So something interesting to think about, we look into the sky and see galaxies as there where millions of years ago. What if when we look into the sky there is actually nothing. how would we ever know. I realize that's probably not true but its still interesting to think of

  • Great video, and nice explanation. The universe is so big, and time is probably the most important dimension for us, because of that dimension we don’t know what’s going on right now in the rest of the universe. We can only calculate what is going on. And people, if you want to bring religion in a science discussion, please read your bible, and please study it more.

  • If all that Astronomy ever produced was these aesthetic visuals....it would still be worth it.

  • Seeing the clusters of all those millions of galaxies is so beautiful and makes you feel so small. But I have to say, I have never loved the idea of the universe as much as now when i can see the magnificant size it is.

  • hi now i know this question might seem strange but please bare with me. What is the elemental configuration of outer space i.e.open space, as far as gasses (metallic,etc..), microscopic or otherwise if any? i know there to be gasses out there but do not know what they consist of. please if possible no negative comments especially from the ego driven know it all's its just counter productive thank you all who can answer (^_^)

  • that was cool.

  • @alagodny

That's not very Christian of you :|

  • The garden is beautiful enough as it is.

Why do we need to have magic fairies in it?

The universe is beautiful enough as it is.

Why do we need a magic man in the sky to explain it?

  • @FutileFreak Sadly it's because we're humans. We have imagination. Sadly, most of us can't handle "boundaries". When one reaches a limit, this poor being attributes the "beyond boundaries", the "unexplainable" to God. Limits vary. Some people are ignorant, others are stagnated and others are just spoiled idiots refusing knowledge and denying dinosaurs even existed. Some say dinosaurs is a hoax from scientists to disprove the holy bible, the ultimate word from god.

  • is it just me or the model they did bears a remarcable resemblance to ordinary tissue?????

is it possible that we are becteria for a bacteria for a bacteria for a small piece of tissue belonging to a bacteria of an enormous biological entity?? :D

  • Alright, lets get real people, this universe is filamentery and probably infinite. The BBT is simply whats keepin the Physicists payed.Theres is know solid proof that an explosion created everything in this universe. It could of just been the supernova that gave birth to the milky way.The microwave backround is radiation from our black hole.

  • If the universe is expanding and these voids exist where is it expanding from?

  • btw are they relative? they look same

  • I mean George Lucas

  • looks like George Starwars talking abt The Force '_'

  • If someone from the 1400's saw one of us driving a car down the road today, they could possibly think that we had special powers which created the car because they could not explain why it moves on it's own. If you explained that to that person from the past, they would understand, not go on believing you had powers to create the car. It is evolution, just like the universe. Knowledge is power. Who knows though, maybe we will get to the end of the universe and discover that God, in fact made it.

  • LOL alright! Warp 1 000 000!!!! Whooo!!!!

  • Uh-oh... LeatherCladVegan and natzeeejesus have arrived to disrespect George Smoot by bringing up their own PERSONAL problems with life, the universe and everything and not addressing the particulars of the ACTUAL topic here. These losers need to go back to school and re-learn the fundamentals of scientific observation. Your specific input here is neither valid nor appreciated.

  • Dude's racing...

  • I maybe atheist. but I certainly do not think Christians are stupid. As for the creationists who take the bible literally, yes.

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz That statement is a fallacy. If they are "Christians" they take the Bible literally.

  • @Matthitizidu Not neccesarily. Religion can simply be a construct for how to live a happy life. Many people may not pray every night or beleive the "Young Earth" stuff. They may just go to church on sunday when they can feel like they belong to something and are doing right in their life.

  • Comment removed

  • @Lunacyrules Religion certainly can be a construct to live a happy life. But if you're a "Christian" you believe in Christ's ability to give you eternal life through pronouncing him your king and savior. There are tons of feel good religions. Ascribing to a "religion" without actually believing what the religion itself teaches is for fools that wouldn't have the courage or wisdom to live the happy life you say they're after.

  • @Lunacyrules its a delusional waste of time

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz i agree. the bible should not be taken literally. and yes i am religious. i'm not sure exactly what to believe anymore. i have two ideas in mind. an intelligent designer and more or less the embodiment of 'infinity'. if m-theory is correct which i strongly believe. "god" can take the form of infinity and thus maybe he could be an intelligent designer after all.

  • @FallofDarkness55 well if that is the case, god is not christ. Christ is just a poorly thought - out human imagination. The god you are talking about is something much greater, and definately not affliated with the bible.

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz I am an Atheist as well, but i follow a christian way of life, I do not lie, cheat, steal or kill I love most but not all, I do not hate or discriminate :)

  • @nathanlief that's not a christian way of life. That's a lawful way of life. Christians are known to kill, to hate, and to discriminate.

  • more galaxies than stars...which is kind of a conundrum....

  • @pepicanable Actually that would not be possible because galaxies are made up of stars so really we are seeing about 100,000,000,000 star every time we see a galaxy. Plus almost 1 black hole per galaxy. Including the galaxies that don't have black holes.

  • It seems a bit like trying to figure out how the first train worked based on satellite images of a modern day train wreck.

  • im not a scientist or very smart but i do see his point of view even if this guy believes in a desinger i think he doesn't mean that god exists or any message like that whatsover i think he is looking at patterns in the universe and explaining his conclusions to us not saying there is a desinger but that there is some sort of design in the universe not saying there is a designer but the design or the pattern that he sees when he looks at the data

  • fractals for life... another fucking genius

  • You know, when it comes to the BigBangTheory you say that the entire universe was once the size of a marble and something triggered an explosion that expanded the universe and when asked how and why the physicist will sit and eventually prove it mathematically but the religious man will not think mathematically but simply think back to a story he heard in church and answer "God claped his hands and the universe was born", not even realizing that he has the mentality of a 5yr old

  • Comment removed

  • The Universe is braincells of a larger consciousness .. FRACTAL GEOMETRY

  • cool

  • so we are infanite and when ourbodys are gone something else is available.hm?

  • Religion is so toxic and detrimental to modern day society. It creates conflicts between people and has been responsible for more deaths and suffering in the history of humanity. Sorry but that's not something I would ever want to be proud of or be a participant in. That's my opinion.

  • ...As another person commented, this is the 21st century and believing in stories people wrote 2 thousand years ago about how everything works on our planet and the stars is just plain ridiculous from an educated point of view. Yeah, there's some almighty being who has control over whether we go to a place called heaven or a place called hell for how our behavior is on earth. Okay, what ever people want to think. Show some proof of this if possible. I kind of doubt there is though.

  • Studying the cosmos is pretty cool stuff and I enjoyed George's presentation about it. It truly does make us feel totally insignificant in the real scope of things.

I read most of the comments until I had to stop from being irritated. First of all, science is about proving the facts and for those of you who want to believe religion and god are responsible for the universe need to wake the **** up. .....

  • not mind-blowing but seriously awesome to see and very interesting too

  • So at 8 minutes the centre is the Earth where we are looking from??? Im fascinated by astronomy. Very Interesting Talk.

  • LOL! Everyone sucks each other!

  • I doubt a Super Parent God exsists. That is for people with Parenting issues. Going by this model, Earth is an exteramly small point. If this planet ceased to exsist no one will miss us. If the Milkyway Galaxy vanished no one will miss it. Lets leave the dark ages of a God and a Earth Cented mentality.

  • Science and Religion -- or, if you will, the material world and the spirit world -- are not mutually exclusive. My analogy: computers. Hardware does not "disprove" software; the two complement each other.

God invented science, therefore you should respect both.

So there. Now can we all just get along? :D

  • @Boodlums bad analogy.

Also God didn't invent science. There are SO many things to question about that statement. For one thing, science is the name you give to human curiosity about nature.

  • Look, look, look at the universe. Look at the stars. Look at the great and awesome things which we all know God created. Now let us all seek God and search after God since God is sooooooo awesome as to create all that we see. Seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near.

  • @Turn2God4Hope You are INSANE.

  • @MrSweatyZombie NO, his brain has been pushed out of his scull by religion,,,

  • It's a curious fenomenon of psycology. When someone believes in something, let say, a god, he/she needs desperately to meet and find other people in order to reinforce he's faith..If i believed in a god i wouldn't need other people's sharing the same belief in order to endorse and aprove mine or would feel like going on a crusade to convince and if necessary eliminate the non believers cause they threath my belief. People who act like that have a very suspicious faith to say the least

  • Evolution officially turned the book of Genesis to fiction.....

  • It's interesting that though he seems to believe in a creator (not sure, but there were an awful lot of designer metaphors, more than in Hawking's books), he focuses on the "how God did it" part rather than settling at just the "God did it" part. This is what the religious need to do to gain respect in the scientific community to keep the conversation more civil. Science is the attempt at discovering the "how" of everything, and religion is the attempt at "why?" (two different questions)

  • @Ledwix

Except religion makes no attempt, just assertions that cannot be backed up. It doesn't explain how or why.

  • If Sheldon Cooper was in the audience.... :D

  • my last name is smoot i win!

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • If there are any astrophysicists around can you answer this question. I was wondering if it were possible that the universe is in an infinite cycle of blowing up and expanding and contracting and returning to a small entity? Like does the universe every 80 or 90 billion years return to it's original dense ball and blow again?

  • @torontoBluejays87 I honestly thought about the same thing for such a long time, seems like a more "usable" system to expand and retract, to expand again. and then I watched "A Universe From Nothing". It's an hour long and you can find here on YouTube. Check it out, it will answer some other questions you have I suspect, and then....it will raise other questions. A great lecture from Lawrence Krauss.

  • God I wish the TRILLIONS of dollars squandered on stupid wars and bullcrap like the "bailouts' of irresponsible corporations was spent on science and space exploration. The monstrous particle excellerator in Europe cost less than one percent as much as our stupid "wars" in the middle east.

  • @Zurround100 Highest rated comment for a reason. I think most people in the world would agree this is the direction we need to take (space exploration). In fact, there's an organization set on just that: spacecollective (dot) org

  • @DanielH3342 Thanks for the compliment, I meant every word of it! If we as a planet put as much effort into space exploration as wars we would probably have manned bases on the moon and mars and maybe even on some of the outer planets and moons. And as I said before if that particle excellerator in france cost less than one percent as much as the middle east war then if we spent ALL of that war money we wasted on the study of physics we really could probably have warp drive or a wormhole!

  • @Zurround100 Amen to that :) it's like putting our cosmological advancements to expand knowledge aside for a "more important" conflict costing millions of lives and $. hmmm, which is more important? :)

  • This has some of that wow in it folks.

  • well i always thought since proved the existance of god. It is rather stupid to think god does not excist after seing this video as there are so manny galaxys and so many ways in which our planet could have been destroyed. and yet we survive. Religion and science are two paths to understanding the same question what is god and why do we excist. There are many ways in the "real world" to see beyond what science. Its just that people dont seek the truth which is within themselves.

  • It is pretty ridiculous that after watching such an interesting video so edifying and educational, I look down to see nothing but spewed hatred toward people of religion in the comments. I don't get it. Can't we discuss rationally the points made in the presentation? What about this video supports an idea that people who believe in God are "worthless" and "unnecessary" people? How is it an intellectual conversation to ignorantly rant about someone's belief that God made all this?

  • @rabidfox1 You can't discuss rationally with someone who believes 'I know God did it'. Therefore, it exists.' Though it is their right to believe whatever they want, it is important to ridicule such nonsense (creation science, faith, etc.). You're right, this video doesn't support the idea that people should spew hatred towards people of religion, but some of these (ignorant) comments are from theists who find videos like this one disturbing because of their beliefs.

  • @TheLegendarySkeptic

Well I believe "God did it", and I can discuss it rationally. God did not do it magically, and scientifically we can learn to understand much about it. My belief is something entirely separate, and can be discussed in a different arena based on different criteria. Using a space such as this where so many great discussions can come up to spew hatred fro people who believe God did it and require them to "prove it" is just stupid and a waste -shows the ignorance of both sides

  • Christianity is extremely outdated. Answer this:

In the bible it says that God saved the Jews from persecution from the Egyptians . Where was God when the nazis killed 6 million jews?

Why do catholic priests rape little boys?

Why does a religion that preaches love have such a history of killing and destruction? The crusades are just one example.

If God knows everything couldn't have a predicted that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit.

  • @JesusROX9501

Because the secular powers hijacked the religion for power. This is why the American forefathers condemned the merger of religion and state -NOT religion itself. Christianity did not exist for hundreds of years as the religion was twisted and used for political power and enslavement. No God fearing individual lead the church. It matched nothing of what Jesus Himself set up, and taught vastly different principles. Men can be evil, so men do evil sometimes. It isn't God's job to...

  • @JesusROX9501

...It isn't God's job to stop people from choosing something, only to reveal the good. If everyone in the world adhered to what Christ taught, Hitler would not have existed, nor Stalin -who killed over double what Hitler did in his atheist project- the world would be at peace. The atheist governments of history have killed more people than the religious, and the dark ages was the history of the world, not just Christianity. The history of nations using Christianity for power.

  • @JesusROX9501

Guttenburgh's press put a Bible in everyone's hands, and guess what happened next...the Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation. The power of the political structure called "the church" was weakened. People broke away from the apostate religion and began to try to fix it, starting many imperfect churches. Things got better and thinkers such as Jefferson and Franklin emerged. People not afraid to mention God and His goodness when speaking about freedom and progression.

  • @rabidfox1 sorry but Jefferson and Franklin were deists not chirstians. it looks like when ever someone says the word god you think it means the one from the bible.

  • @kokofan50 they also thought religion was important

  • @mlbfan3 I know Franlkin going to church was a political thing more than religious for him. Have you seen a Jeffrson bible he cut out the magic stuff in it. From what i know the only reason they thought it was important was to give guide to people who wouldn't have a common standerd.

  • @kokofan50 they still are dumb the bible teaches hate not love just look at the crusades

  • @mlbfan3 i agree but i go after all who don't think logicaly

  • @kokofan50

I didn't say "Jesus", I said "God". They were not afraid of mentioning God and they mentioned Him several times in the context of the Bible. Don't give me the crap Deist argument. Get your history straight.

  • @rabidfox1 tell when did i say jesus. show me give a quotes (like 2 or more each).

  • @JesusROX9501

You ask where was God when the Jews were being killed by nazis?

God was probably there crying that some of His creation were choosing to be so ignorant and evil in inflicting so much suffering on them. Who is to say He didn't prevent millions more? Or inspire men and women to help the escapees escape? But where were the Jews when God came to earth as the Messiah? They killed Him. "The Jews" are only a portion of the tribes of Israel though, a small portion. There were 12 tribes

  • @JesusROX9501

"why do catholic priests rape little boys?"

why does anybody? There are a lot more then priests who do such evil things, and who the hell wants to know what is in there psyche to make them think it is okay. As evil as the church has been in the past, it does not teach people to be that way. But there are enough priests out in the world in a position of authority that statistically it is bound to happen. It sucks; the church is stupid to not purge/condemn it as much as possible

  • @JesusROX9501 "If God knows everything couldn't have a predicted that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit."

What makes you think He didn't know? He put the tree there. If it wasn't meant to be why would He put it there in the first place? You think you are pointing out a contradiction, but you aren't. You actually raise a good discussion question on the subject. Humans had to "fall" in order to jumpstart this plan to live in a pretty messed up world to see who will try to make it better for others

  • It's so good for the Universe that HUMANS in this Earth Planet cannot reach the Universe because we are still PRIMITIVES... we have not technology to convert the cosmos in a New Universe Order

  • I mean come on..it's 2010, and some still belief in Gud ...grow up people !!!!

  • Superb video, the univers almost looks organic...not saying it is, it just has that look.

  • Thank you for the video. He showed some very amazing images and renderings.

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • I like the black power. Black power endlessly love. And no one not force me to think otherwise. It has everything. I love the black power (I agreed to the black power between 1998 - The 1999 )))))

I love Egypt, too. And no one not force me to think otherwise. Nobody .)))))) Black power is my love .)))))

  • Holy Wow!!!!!!!!! this is good stuff, all of what u guys are talking about aside, when you have the time check out rhizome (philosophy) on wikipedia.

  • wow the universe is like a hugeeee galaxy insted of haveing a galaxy with star clusters with bilion of stars the universe has clusters with bilion galaxies its crazy huuge

  • Is this guy a deist?

  • of course ZEUS the only one true god did it! ZEUS design all universe! not jesus or allah , zeus did it!

  • @milkywayone eat shit, zeus. ODIN!!!

  • @ChuckVanDamme Zeus gonna send his demons to eat you !!! you bloody unbeliever!

  • @milkywayone he can send tons of demons. my god carriers a HAMMER. if i fall i would end up in majestic Valhalla and you in the creepy underworld.

    :-D

  • @ChuckVanDamme mate, Zeus is eating hammera for breakfast and his power demons too!

Valhalla is Apollos pet, so im not scared, ANY OF YOu how dont believe in Zues true god gonna burn tomorrow!

  • if god existed, he would of sucked my dick by now

  • lol!!!

  • @mugatu40 god is in us, god is everything. so you sucked your own dick.

  • @mavdj also means you sucked it to ;)

  • 11:16 looks like a neural network....

  • There is no evidence that the universe is designed. -- Love, Jonny Angel

  • @qYnBzWFc Evidence is all around you, open your eyes, everything in nature has a design

  • @Impressionist1 Open your own eyes. Octopuses have better eyes than the animal that is alleged to be created in the image of Yahweh.

  • @Impressionist1 Nah your explanation is such a lame cop out and encourages non-thinking.

  • @natzeeejesus I think arguing with you here would be totally uncostructive. I'd like to see how you would explain it to this astrophysicist..

  • @Impressionist1 Why do you need to add this next step in this process of the creation of the universe? If your God is eternal why can't the universe be as well? Your solution only seems to complicate the answer we are all looking for because as Evolution has shown, Complicated stuff comes from really really simple stuff. And adding God in the picture makes no sense according to what we see in the visible universe. You are the reason the human species is slowly evolving instead of rapidly evolvin

  • @natzeeejesus

Arguing with christians is a waste of time, man... If they could think logically and be reasoned with, they wouldn't be god-damned christians in the first place.

    Know what I mean? :)

  • @LeatherCladVegan I know, it is fun sometimes to aggravate some good old fashioned stupidity. I have accepted the fact that most people in the world are very stupid and delusional. But lately it has been getting harder and harder for them to cling onto what ever gaps they have left in order to make false and unsupported claims about the universe. You have to stand up to these extreme believers because they infect the minds of the next generation and kill curiosity in children altogether.

  • @natzeeejesus I happen to think you are one of the "many" people who are stupid and delusional. I'm standing up to you, because I think you are an extreme believer and are poisoning the minds of the next generation and trying to kill the curiosity in children all together. Stop preaching science and try questioning it instead. You're giving science a bad reputation by questioning the intellectual capacity of those who disagree with you. That is an anti-science mentality.

  • @LeatherCladVegan I don't know what you mean, and it's not very nice to ridicule another's belief system. I am just as atheist as you, probably, but I would never claim that a Christian is stupid or cannot think logically simply because they are Christian. Their beliefs, and often even their modes of reasoning, differ from mine, but I'm not so arrogant as to think that mine are objectively better. Stop self-fellating and start accepting that differences in beliefs are OK.

  • @10Kernel01

I should also respect that the Catholic church wouldn't allow gay people to be a part of its World Youth Day celebrations... but I don't.

And if you say to me 'I am just as reasonable a person as you, and I have also concluded that the world was created 6000 years ago', you get zero respect. None.

Don't tell me I have to show respect to utterly ludicrous ideas... are you drunk?! Fuck anyone who says ridiculous things and then proclaims those things sacred.

  • @10Kernel01

And furthermore, if George Smoot, for example, got up on that stage and started claiming that he was actually a dinosaur whose brain had been teleported through a wormhole, you would be agreeing that he was mentally ill, and it would be nigh-on criminal to encourage that belief...

But the moment he manages to convince a whole bunch of people that they are all dinosaurs - well, now it's a religion and you'd better respect it! Viola!

I don't buy that for a second, sorry.

  • @LeatherCladVegan I'm not asking you to respect the beliefs, I'm asking you to be nice about them. What are your beliefs? I promise you that I can ridicule them effectively, no matter how "reasonable" they are. For example, you believe that there was a big bang? The evidence for that is based on calculations from a theory we know to be incorrect for the big bang conditions. How do we know that? Because there is a singularity in the equations. Every such singularity has been a flaw, historically.

With respect - that's where you're wrong. I don't have the kinds of 'beliefs' you are referring to. I don't 'believe in' the big bang... why would I? It's an inconclusive theory requiring some pretty stunning physics to work - why would I 'believe' in it? You're confusing 'belief' with 'accepting that it might have some piece of truth to offer', but if that's you're definition, then technically I actually believe in 'God', which... I don't.

    Religions are terrible theories! :)

  • @LeatherCladVegan

Big question: If the universe is infinite, why can God not be?

Big question: There have been misunderstandings throughout history and a natural urge to blame somone else: Why have you come to blame God, and how do you know the original statements of how benevolant he was are true? Wouldn't you be a complete dick with such power?

Big Statement: Absence of Evidence is not Evidence of Absence.

  • @natzeeejesus First of all, don't give me this pretentious shit saying it would be unconstructive to argue with me. Why do you creationists insist that there has to be a creator involved? You said yourself that we cannot prove that there is no creator but I am not saying I am dead sure there isn't. You on the other hand seem to "know" and give no thinking to the actual evidence which has been presented. No proof there is a God my friend, and just "observing" the universe is not proof.

  • @Impressionist1 that's an argument from ignorance.

  • The product of a neoplex variant is subject to the continuation vortex of the omruvai(Om-Ru-Vie) trivix remnant particle which spins at speeds greater than the speed of light modeling all of existence in the proccess. A secret of the universe......

  • Talk about humbling.

  • With all respect but if you believe in a God, you believe in magic and therefore also in witchcraft, Harry Potter,

etcetera. In general, the belief in Gods has caused Earth inhabitants more than enough trouble.

    Start belief in yourself.

  • Honestly...I am in utter shock that you said science is boring and overrated. Guys like George Smoot are trying to enrich your knowledge and dedicates tons of time in order to do it. Maybe if you took your fingers out of your ears and listened...you'd actually come back with a comment which had any relevance at all.

  • @fakeaccount8455hr you get all worked up for nothing, mr. fake. all that steam can't be good for a scientific mind! :) yeah, of course I watched the video. I am open minded, you know? and I am a buddhist. your world though seems very black and white. hey, you don't have all the answers. neither does science. :) too te loo! :) have fun. ;p

  • @joanofarcxxi Don't think I am getting "worked up" last time I checked. And by the way, when did I say I have all the answers? If I did, there would be no need for science or religion for that matter....Black and white?? you don't even know me buddy...I'm done talking to you by the way, thanks for passing your "wisdom" to me, you've enriched my life so much.

  • @fakeaccount8455hr ok, sweetie. I am glad you are cool. :) I am here any time you need a little enlightenment. lol. free your mind, live a little, feel the magic. xo so sweet chatting with you, "buddy". namaste. ommmmmmmmm....

  • Very precise talk.
