Norum very nearly joined UFO around 95, you can see and hear why with this video. Schenker, whilst has a killer technique that comes from natural exploration and years of playing by ear...he also has FEEL, MELODY and EMOTION in his playing, a point that so many of the new era players forget to put in their playing. Norum is old school, and also has that feel, emotion and melody. A excellent player and very underrated.
Absolutely excellent version. Norum is a better guitarist than Michael Schenker was, but at this time, and the entire strangers in the night album Michael really was the best in the entire world. So Norum can't copy MS just as good as MS did himself back then.
i think norum should do a schenker tribute album, he s one of the few guitarist today who can transmit the same feeling and emotion the way michael does..and his tune..really amazing

Guitar tone is right, playing is awesome, everything's great, but the vocalist clips the phrasing in a way that sucks the soul right out of the song. At least he's not pitchy.
Other than the fact that Norum wasn't very faithful to Michael Schenker's original solo at the end, this is really good. They also skipped the 'crying' guitar intro, but no big deal. Pretty darn good cover of one of my all-time favorite rock songs.
Great song but the the singing fucked it all up. Not that he sucked at singing, he is a great singer its just he didn't sing it the way it was meant to be sang.

Awesome Playing Guitar Playing by John Norum. These Guys "Europe" never get the Credit that they Deserve. Many only know them for "The Final Countdown " but they are Much More than that. Their Talent is beyond Compare.

actually John Norum (as his name is) is really one of the best guitarists there is ,, he actually played in accept on a european tour as well if I recall right .. and he has released 2 great solo albums as well .
I had to come back & watch this great cover by Europe,just excellent,Schenker is such a genius that he composed Desert Song from his Assault Attack album from a riff off this song also written by him!
check the riff at 1:38 is the same riff but on Desert song is a bit slower!
I've never liked Europe and I never will, but I have to admit this is a very decent cover of UFO's original. It's still much better, but what they make with it is respectable. When I saw the title, I must say I expected a rubbish like Frampton's cover of JJ Flash on "Frampton comes alive". If you want to laugh, just listen to it. Simply appalling... AAAGGGGG!

actually John Norum (as his name is) is really one of the best guitarists there is ,, he actually played in accept on a european tour as well if I recall right .. and he has released 2 great solo albums as well .

I had to come back & watch this great cover by Europe,just excellent,Schenker is such a genius that he composed Desert Song from his Assault Attack album from a riff off this song also written by him!
check the riff at 1:38 is the same riff but on Desert song is a bit slower!

I've never liked Europe and I never will, but I have to admit this is a very decent cover of UFO's original. It's still much better, but what they make with it is respectable. When I saw the title, I must say I expected a rubbish like Frampton's cover of JJ Flash on "Frampton comes alive". If you want to laugh, just listen to it. Simply appalling... AAAGGGGG!
