Inpress Review on new single, 'We'll Never Work In This Town Again', 02/09/2010
'Is it just me, or has Paul Dempsey's writerly mood apparently skyrocketed since he's freed himself of the sook-rock mantle of Something For Kate? ... there's still
something about his voice that makes my teeth grind, ever so slightly, but I'll welcome anything that frees us from the aggressive dourness of the SFK years'
@Bamptonoid It'd be nice if reviewers did a bit of research. Paul has suffered from Depression over the years, which is what the song 'Monsters' is about. Anyone who has ever had the misfortune to experience clinical depression knows how all-consuming it can be, and it's far from having a 'sook'. I think this song (Nice Guy) also touches on the issue of depression and how it makes you a completely different person to what you used to be, although that may just be my own interpretation of it.
@FarukhsManager I agree. Some reviewers have been a little cavalier and insensitive with tags like 'sook-rock'. Songwriting is often at its best when it IS existential and self-carthatic. On a purely aesthetic musical level, however, I find Dempsey's solo outings a lot more rewarding than the last two SFK albums. Precisely because the earnesty shines through and isn't mired in sonic self-absorption.
when the whole world seems like a waste of time, we have Paul Dempsey and SFK to remind us how fortunate we are to be blessed by their talents. What an amazing man. Thanks for posting this...my favourite song of his at the moment.
Priceless. I really don't get how Paul and SFK aren't huge all around the world. Guess people don't really appreciate good music. Thanks for posting this. Brilliant stuff.
Paul Dempsey. You are a fucking genius. Love your vocals and your guitarwork is so simple and intricate at the same time. Quality international, dare I say it, Australian music.
Thank You for putting this up for those who cld not cram into greville :) As I lay here in bed this freezing cold tuesday morn, my body was covered wh goosebumps from where Paul took us. Took me back to some Gr8 late 90's memories. And the times of playing wh this Gr8 man. Thanks! Andria

Agree, great filming. This is my current favourite track from the album - subject to change. (Do you like what I did with that?)
