Google MAME, learn what it is and how to use it, look up MAME program and MAME ROMS on ebay. You should get it all, on about 6 Disc or something like that. You have to do a lot of reading and go through trial & errors to undersand it all. Mostly on installing on PC and controller settings. Onece you have it up and running, your childhood memories will come back. Trust me!
Guys, don't pay for dvd's from vultures or even well meaning game enthusiasts.
I set up a torrent on Demonoid (Deepgamers Mame)that has every possible game and thing for Mame, and if you can't get it there then it's on the internet somewhere!
That's a bold statement considering you're looking at violating about 3,800 or more copyrights in one way or another...just sayin'- I wouldn't advertise bro...
@BigBangBlitz Do you have an abridged version which only contains games worth playing? I remember that I used to have the MAME emulator on a dvd somewhere, until I lost it. One of the roms was cassette tape hockey. My brother and I literally waited about 20 minutes waiting for it to "load," even with the speed increased, only to enter a game with horrible controls, clunky design and a lack of two-player mode.
i wanted to rent this game for years, always out of stock at blockbuster.. finally gave up on it... i cant believe i missed out on this game... so awesome
How many stages did this game have? I vaguely remember seeing this game when I was younger and seeing the demo mode feature several "wanted" posters that probably represented stages or enemies to be killed. Completed stages were shown with a big spray-painted X over the target's poster, and a big crosshair over the current target.
I'm glad I remembered correctly then. I never got a chance to stuff quarters in this game like I wanted before it vanished off the face of the Earth.
Do you think you could do a stage-by-stage 3-players runthrough of this game and record it for posterity? I'd love to finally see a complete playthrough of this part of my childhood I never got to fully experience.
We have done it three times on our livestream channel, dman99. As the website name implies, it happened live. The games reputation is such that if you request it there it will probably be played again. That and Trio the Punch or Contra III.
If you can tell me how to get to and use that site, I'd appreciate it. I would prefer a recorded walkthrough posted here, though, since I'd like to watch it again and again.
I can't think of any other titles (aside from this one and Capcom's Dead Rising) where you can throw people into store windows and through the TV screens behind, or have as much fun smashing skulls with a guitar.
I think I like how the "corpses" in this game are depicted as chalk outlines. A simple yet effective way of showing where a dead body was, and perfectly G-rated as well!
Im so glad there is a video of this game and yeah this is a criminally overlooked game. Found this on my Mame emulator the other day and now I cant stop playing it!
This game probably could have had legs if it were a lot less "lol90s" (the music, rank and file "punk" enemies and heroes alike, the "hip" voices whenever you did ANYTHING, etc.)
Probably the most obscure Technosoft game and a good choice. I billed this as a "Thunderforce killer" the first time I saw it, but turns out the company made both games. I actually have this in the line up next to "Cybattler" by Jaleco, so i'll get to it eventually.
@cheesewilly i've been called a jerk and an asshole before but that's just because other people hate it when they're wrong. maybe if you bought some more neurons and got brain transplant you would have known that the sounds was 80s rock/techno along the lines of "a split second".
If they gave this game some idiosyncrasies in character and level design besides short shorts, it could have been great. the rotating sprites during the "spin cycle" are quite nice.
This thing's like Final Fight on Steroids. XD
