I would have liked it more if you had put the "germ.." and "silicon" labels under the pedals, and revealed them at the end of the video. So it would be a blind test.
GERMANIUM - sounds fuzzier and bassier, it also seems to react with a sputter to heavier pick attack
SILICON - sounds a little smoother and the overall tone seems more balanced
***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***
Great comparison! I think I prefer silicon as it sounds and acts more like a cranked amp. Germanium tends to squash the transients and turn the signal into some kind of unholy organic squarewave, a little too much for my uses, but I guess that's what most of us would associate with fuzz.. Oh, and can you admit you're Jack Black already?

Very helpful videos you have here.

I have a question. I'm a pedal noob and was wondering if you're supposed to run a pedal like this one through a gain channel or a clean one.

I've watched both your demoes of this and I prefer it with the volume cranked :D It's just fuller and thicker, the way fuzz should be

It's about time GMD demo-ed these massive pedals. I have #43! in all its germanium goodness.

I agree. My OXFUZZ does sound better with vol on 3 o'clock.

Sounds like the silicon is a little brighter... but the Germanium has that classic fuzz tone.

YES! I'm glad you finally demoed these. These things are rockin aren't they?
I think I like the Germanium better, but I'm not really sure....it's too hard to choose.
