I saw this movie yesterday. For me it was a way too much directed to the US-Americans. They never spoke about saving the environment, nature, planet, humanity... Just about saving the USA and its environment and nature. I think that environmental pollution and destruction doesnt matter to most of the people in the movie, if it occurs somewhere outside the US borders...

Its just my impression...

Thanks to the libertarian business climate, companies are happily moving jobs abroad, lowering wages, worsening working conditions

Since natural resources are accounted as free gains and pollution isn't counted against the bottom line, business on its own will grab resources and pollute till an environment is destroyed

The food business, on its own, will put filth in our food and lie about what it's made of

Business will create unsafe goods, endanger workers, profit in times of crises

the company, massey, has been taken over by alpha. i don't know don blankenship's role in this new company, if any, but it will stay mostly non-union.

Bravo to the fil makers and the people of West Virginia for having the courage to stand up to Massey Coal and their short term profit motives at the expense of everything else. If the coal companies were forced through legeslation or judicial decree to have to build a mountain in place where they took one away, their operation would not be so profitable and soon they would decide to conduct business in a new field. i know this only addresses one of the many problems of coal mineing, but rain water is manytimes dependant on the mountains acting as a big condensor for moisture in the air, without them rain fall can be reduced significantly, your best bet is in courts.

i don't disagree but at the same time there needs to be some mentality around what we want instead. i'm actually working on that. may i suggest you look up Derrick Jensen's 20 premises. it's for the book 'endgame' (two volumes). you can read a lot of it online. but check out the premises and tell me what you think... then check out derrick on youtube. i'm mentioning him because he's the only person we've found so far with a lot of info already out about the subject.
