The Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (operated by NASA) has launched over 2,000 scientific balloon missions. Accidents are rare. You should realize that there is a huge difference between a camera hanging from a weather balloon and a multi-ton telescope hanging from a 400 ft scientific balloon.

Nasa is granted way too much money. For decades they have been able to play with their little space toys at the tax payer's expense. Most of their stuff just explodes or gets into orbit and doesn't work.
Let private business handle space exploration.

Yeah, what makes NASA think that Aussies know anything about space craft? Why would you trust their outback, hillbilly, kangaroo chasing, bloomin' onion eating, selves to properly launch a gaziliion dollar craft?
I joke. Seriously I love Australians, esp Tabrett Bethell... oh so hot. She can launch my weather balloon anytime.
