  • what score did he get

  • @hinkeluv No score. This was just an exhibition.

  • It is disgusting to read so many unprofessional critiques There is nothing wrong with having an opinion when it is stated with tact and class. So many of the comments posted about this video say much more about the authors than merely the stated and intended opinion.

  • This is show dressage, not classical.

  • This looks awful!!! OMG, if I ever see a rider doing that to their horse i will... årgk...

  • @NinaaKid and @danawayviceroy Do you know anything about this sport? If a horse didn't enjoy what they were doing, they wouldn't do it! Trust me, a horse that's in top level dressage must enjoy what they're doing or they wouldn't be there! Besides, getting the head to flex like that is a skill, not torture!

  • Bitting the chest :( OK so it's no technically hyperflexion/ rollkur, and yes friesians are short in the neck, after all the are carriage bred, but the horses should be 'up to the bit' or 'forward to the bit'. This horse looks backward in the contact and the hindlegsare not underneath the thorax enough to propel him forwards into the hand. Shame

  • ouch. not collection. that's called pulling on the horses mouth to it's chest.

  • very bad rider, they need to learn somthing about horse care

  • poor horse......

  • not nice riding

  • I know friesians have the neck they have, but that is no excuse for ridning this way at all - i've seen friesians been ridden with the nose a little in front of the vertical line, as you should at that level.

That looks so pretty and suits their thick neck so good!

  • beautiful horse.... rollkur, blech!

  • Look at the breed, this is often how they carry themselves. Also notice the position of his pole. He isnt overbreaking at all, his face remains flat., if he had a smaller neck it would be such a big deal. Its not like Anky's situation. Plus he's a stallion with a huge crest. Well. Very rythmatic and beautiful.

  • Well owning a friesian stallion i can tell you on the lunge long rein this is how they carry the head, no pressure no draw reins its natural.

  • I think nobody here has ever ridden a friesian? A real! friesian? 'cause it's very hard to ride them on the bit on the vertical. Especially stallions have huge necks, what makes it even harder. The most Friesians walk behind the vertical, almost all the friesians do this. So it's not 'rollkur' or something like that.

I've ridden 2 or 3 friesians and they all got the same problem...

  • Well, look at how huge his neck is. When he flexes his poll, it's probably only natural that it's going to be close to his neck since it's so big. I do agree, that it's not as pretty, I'd like to see it let out more, but that's obviously how he flexes

  • stallions are muscular and he was showing for the 'ladies'. it he would have thought the reins to tight, he would not have done his bit

  • Comment removed

  • wow, that doesnt look comfortable for that horse at all :S The neck is totally pulled together and the horse isn't relaxed any minute of the whole performance :/ Thats not what i call dressage, thats torture :(

  • @danawayviceroy Watch him at the freewalk and note that his head still stays very arched in to. He could stretch out more if he wanted to. It's just the way the Friesian is.

  • @danawayviceroy if you knew anything at all about friesians then you would know that well bred friesians have an extreemely high head carriage that, when collected, often causes them to look overbent. clearly you know nothing, so you really shouldnt be commenting on it..if this horse and rider were not doing proper dressage do you think they would be at that level?

  • That doesn't look very good, the horse head is touching it's chest.. :o doesn't look comfortable or relaxed at all.

  • @NinaaKid

    I think so too ...

    It's near ROLLKUR ...

  • @NinaaKid : I think you have to take the conformation of the horse into account as well, and Friesians are a very short-necked breed generally - but I tend to agree with you, it's not looking very comfortable for the horse - but then, is any dressage comfortable for the horse??? you gotta admit (much as I love horses, dressage and riding) it's not natural for THEM at all!!! :-)

  • @orsman167 - Completely agree. Dressage is no where near natural for the horse no matter how beautiful it is. The Friesian mare I used to board with held her neck and head like that most of the time and I doubt it was from her previous dressage career but rather her breed characteristics. None the less, a lot of hard work, skills, and beauty in the video!

  • @NinaaKid i agree but i guess thats what dressage horses are use to xx horse is buitiful though! xx

  • @NinaaKid dressage is a controlled type of riding, to get that type of perfection. The horse is fine it is called Collection

pick up a book on riding, knowledge is power if you are going to comment on videos, especially if you dont know what your talking about..k sunshine?

  • Ehm ROLLKUR?!?!!?!?!!

  • @Tici59

    Euhm FRIES?!?!!?!?!!

  • ja und?!

  • Practically every Friesian walks this way...

  • I think that'S no comment^^

Every horse can ROLLKUR and no horse need rollkur^^

  • Have you ever tried to train a fries at this level and not doing ''Rollkur''?

Btw, I don't think this is ''Rollkur'', because the horse's head is right on the verticle line..

  • No, but I ride Fries and the fries goes M dressage (I think) and he don't do rollkur.

Well, it isn'T rollkur, but it's over de verticle ...

  • When it's over, thats not rollkur, when it's behind, tháts rollkur (and slightley down)

  • Jep, I know but my english isn't very good, because I'm a german girl ;)

But at 2:20 - 2:23 you can see it very good, that'S rollkur ;)

  • thats for like 3/4 sec. That doesn't hurt a horse..

And i'm dutch, so my english isn't perfect either..

  • Well, I ride dressage too ;)

    I've got a horse too ;)

And at 0:32 - 0:40 is the horse behind the vertical too ... I think it's more than 3/4 sec. ...

  • omg, get the point!!

  • Point ???

  • Your babbeling about a few sec. A horse doesn't dies of e few sec. of Rollkur. Every rider, no matter how good they are, can't avoid riding in ''rollkur''.. If they were changing from trot to canter, the horse will ''rollkur'' for a sec (and probably many more examples)

  • YES of course ;)

But this horse is very often behind teh verticale ....

    Sry. I think so.

  • I absolutely disagree! Learn your facts before commenting. A horse the is properly trained, you will never see them in the hyper flexion position. It is a discraseful way of "training". Friesians do have a higher headset and thicker necks but that does not mean they have to be hyper flexed during transitions!

  • @Dressagetrainee2894

Learn my facts? Have you ever seen a ''free'' friesian thats excited? (or whatever) They walk like this for themselves. Not as much as in a training, but it looks a lot like ''rollkur''.

And i've ridden quite some few friesians and its very hard to ride them on the vertical or before the vertical. Yes, it can be done, but its hard!

  • Beautifull horse. I'm also riding a daughter of Ielke. She's riding just like him. Lovely!!

  • zoomie anyone who had a clue about horses would know that it doesnt hurt the horse at all. They are trained, bred, and used to that and horses have way different muscles than us. And also looking at how stupid you are being to think that the person who made this video is the person auctually riding the horse i think you are underaged for youtube and lied about your age.

  • and by the way, im danish, so sorry, if i made any mistakes :)

  • hih, can anyone tell me what the name of song number 2 and 3 is? i really like them... and the horse. very nice, but the head is touching the chest... that's bad... and if u guys can't take, im criticize it, what can u then take ? life is not perfect ;)

  • Since when is disengaging the hind quarters, pulling the chin into the chest, hollowing the back and working muscles that are typically only used for swallowing any good? Rollkur is riding the horse front to back which is backwards, all horses should be ridden back to front, if they are their head will come down on its own accord without the need to pull on his mouth.

  • agree with livilou95. it's better for their back anyways,

Am I dreaming or is this horse wearing a rollkur? it would explain the hyperflexion.

  • zoomie776, u dont know what ur talkng about. my horse LOVES to be worked like this and he cribs and stall weaves and is a grump if hes not worked! also having their head "pinned to their chest" is called a being on the bit and its a very natural placement of their head and it makes it easier for them to breath and move as it allows them to come underneath themselves with their hind end. The movements are very natural and dont come through force but through collection and the horses willingness.

  • most people think this looks nice i think its abuse you would not like it if some one pinned your head to your chest and you had to have some one on your back and ride around like that is not the naraol movement of a horse and its not what the horses bones are made for either it not the right place for abuse if you treat a horse like that look at what you are doing to this harmful animal that is just pure abuse

  • i love this horse. it's also the father of my own horse. so i think i've made a good choice.

  • He is a lovely horse, and his rider is obviously very good, but it would be nice to see him not quite so overbent...

  • After all this riding, the horse deserves to go on a trail ride for a while.

  • Ultimate tractor riding ..... nowdays dressage is basically treating horses like machine and pulling like maniacs as if they could feel nothing , this is one is all that . the poor horse is all cranked up , the good nature of these horses is such that they are very popular nowdays , as the sophistication of riders is gone , Friesans come handy , they do not protest and take the abuse better than most breed .... I want to vomit

  • I have got a son of lelke my boy is so sweet and handsome nice to see the dad on here though

  • Il est pas sur-rassembler mais encapuchonner!

  • Its a Friesian- that's how they look. He's not over collected. They aren't warmbloods people.

  • eeek... it's not technically rollkur, but this is about as overbent as you can get. The horse's chin is actually touching the underneath of his neck at every stride. :(

Because of their high neck set, it's really easy to ride this breed of horse in this manner. I would like to give the rider the benefit of the doubt and hope that the horse was just overexcited and wound up... but it's a basic dressage principle that the neck should not be so restrained. :(

  • i bet she is horny haha

  • is it just me or does that freisian look like it has yellow on it????

  • I don't like that ride!! sorry

  • Before anybody speaks or posts comments about Rollkur or to tight in the reins, educate yourself about the breed, go and look at Ielke and ride a Grand Prix dressage level yourself, than speak about Rollkur or to tight.

  • che bel cavallo!

E che bravura, proprio un cavallo ballerino!

  • Can i use this vid plz??

  • i dont do dressage nether but if you take propper intrest in your sport then you should know and i dont know everything and i most certently dont act like it thanks !

  • thats like not even trotting at 0:11

  • Its called Priffel Or summit ! you should know if your a horse lover

  • well sorry im not perfect like you my barn does jumping not dressage so i dont know that much about dressage so you dont need to act like you know everything

  • How can you be a good jumper of have good jumping horses without a knowledge of dressage? Dressage is the basis of everything, how can a horse be expected to negotiate a series of fences without a good solid education on the flat? True showjumping is really a dressage test with obsticles, its designed to demonstrate the balance, control and responsivness of the horse over fences. How can you properly acheive that without dressage?

  • i know that but since we dont do dressage i dont know the name for all that crap so im not gunna argue with you so apparently i should quit riding cause i dont know anything about dressage and you should go to the Olympics

  • if your barn does jumping, and not dressage, then you shouldn't be commenting on dressage if you dont know about it.

  • well what if i want to watch it to learn more about it and i dont know why all these people are "yelling" at me because i am trying to learn about something so whatever

  • If you guys aren't angst ridden teens then you are acting like it...

  • what?

  • Hmm Exactly

  • what?

  • haha emphisis on the OR! NOT EVERYBODY does dressage... its not the only sport in horse riding!

  • wow, rollkur much....

  • thats not rollkur.. thats holding to much in rein;)

    Beautiful horse though!

  • LOVELY!!

  • das arme pferd...

    rollkur ist so schrecklich...

  • So ? This is no rollkur.....

  • This IS ROLLKUR!!!

  • No it is not.

    Not everything is rollkur.

  • I have read 3 videos now with someone commenting on the carriage of Friesian's... please do not criticize something you are not familiar or don't understand.

  • Not familiar with?

Sorry, but you're talking to the wrong person... NOT EVERYTHING IS ROLLKUR. This horse is just on the bit. Friesians role up more than the average horse and it's quite hard to get them out of it.... (sorry if it's not perfect english, i'm dutch ;) )

    I know, i've ridden a few friesians....

  • well, he is definitely over bent in several shots, the poll should be the highest point. He is also behind the vertical in several shots.

  • woow dit paard loopt als een koning!

woow this horse walks like a king!

  • I love this horse <33

  • I do see beauty in horses. I don't however see a horse enjoying himself here. Thats force and thats not beautiful.

  • ok so i watched this again to see what u mean and this isnt dressage. this horse is over bridled and and to much presure on the bit. not all dressage horses and riders ride like this though

  • mostly from Germany :)
