Hi Anne-marie, i have been addicted to all your videos they are fab!..one thing, could you tell me how to make a pipeable frosting for melt and pour..i have tried looking on your blog but can only find one using foaming bath whip??... i am in the uk and dont know what this is...also can you use any clear liquid soap? many thanks xx
do u find when using only essential oils tht the bar smells wonderful but doesnt last once applied to the skin?? Im trying to stay away from fragrance oils but the essential oils dont smell once it suds up on skin:( any suggestions?
@naturallychicrene If you want the scent to stick to your skin after using the soap you basically need to put too much fragrance or essential oil in your soap. Since the soap rinses away dirt and oils - it also rinses away the fragrance.
I have just watched your first 4 videos, and episode one.... I can't wait to watch the rest!! I have not made any cp soap yet.... I did make 2 lbs of melt and pour.....before I found your web sight. What a mess I made! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@Grammerkelly Welcome to the wonderful world of soapmaking. I'm sorry your first batch didn't turn out as you had hoped, but maybe you can cut it up and embed it into another soap as confetti? There's always a way to save your soap. :)
@gomezpatricia53 M&P soap is pretty much the same as Cold Process Soap made at higher temperatures with some extra additions. If you are looking for the ingredients on the Bramble Berry website they are listed in the description of each base.
@rodgersmith1991 If the fragrance oil you are using is undiluted then you should dilute it in a carrier oil. For instance at Bramble Berry, we suggest diluting our fragrances by at least 50% before applying directly to skin, and for some of the stronger oils 75% is best.
@berrys4me You could use a perfume - but you will have to use much more than what I show. That's because perfumes are diluted fragrance oils, while the fragrance and essential oils I use are undiluted.
I actually just ordered fragrance and essential oils from Brambleberry! I was really impressed with how strong their fragrance oils are. I LOVED tomato leaf, sounds odd I know, but it's amazing. I also loved the Fir essential oil, smells like Christmas!
Brambleberry is the best place to buy melt and pour soap, I don't know about fragrances. I know a website where they sell thousands of fragrances, from the sweetest smelling to the really disgusting. Great video though =)
@Mimiopampam The time and cost depends on what you order, how much that weighs, and what shipping method you choose. Our website does great job of accurately quoting international shipping prices - but you can always contact our customer service team.
@coralistabeauty Yes you can mix Fragrance and Essential oils. Many people like to use Essential oils exclusively to keep their products all natural. In fact, I just made a blend using our Orange essential oil, Amber fragrance and Black Tea fragrance that I am just in love with right now!
@KelferMookie The rubbing alcohol just helps the soap layers to stick together and to get rid of bubbles. So really, you don't have to use it - it's mainly just aesthetic. I really can't think of anything you could use instead besides Vodka?
Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video tutorial on how you use the mineral makeup kits that come with bramble berry. Great videos keep up the good work. Always look forward to seeing more videos from this channel
I finally got to make some of my own soaps this weekend. I was at my moms workroom and apparently she has a TON of essential oils and like a 30 lb block of glycerin from before I was born and was really into soap making so I have all the supplies I need, from colors to molds to fragrances. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS! Oh! I forgot, I figured out how to make soap clay by brainstorming and It stays dough-y and works really well and some simple soap frosting
@urbeautyurstyle Are you using a melt & pour soap base - or just a regular store bought soap? That sounds like what happens when you try to microwave some of the commercial soaps. But it can also happen if you microwave the M&P soap for too long, so you really need to microwave on short bursts and stir frequently. You can also use a double boiler or slow cooker - both are slower methods but safer.
@magerkaimic Yes, melt & pour soapmaking is a great project for kids. We have kid's soapmaking parties at Otion the Soap Bar frequently!
Of course you want to supervise them and make sure they don't overheat the soap or burn themselves. So this is probably a project that is best for a child that is capable of safely using a microwave?
@flipthecoin888 Bramble Berry sells soap bases in quantities as small as 1 pound. Sounds like you were just looking at the bulk soap base page. We have way more soap bases than that! :)
How many soaps you can make depends on the size of your mold. For instance, if you have a 4 ounce mold you will be able to make 100 bars of soap from 25 pounds of soap. (25lbs x16 oz) ÷ 4oz = 100 bars
i tried posting this earlier not sure if it worked buttt.... i need a suggestion ... i have been playing around with melt and pour soap... a few people i have given my creations to to try say that the soap doesnt lather as much as they would like :( any suggestions????
@xoMorbidAngelox You might try using a Melt & Pour base that is specifically formulated to give extra lather. Bramble Berry carries one called shaving soap and it uses castor oil - an all natural lather booster. Also be sure you aren't adding any extra oils or butters, those can significantly decrease lather in soap. Some people like to add SLS to increase lather - but I haven't had much luck with that myself. Happy Soaping!
i used a melt and pour Olive oil soap base from Michaels and added apricot seeds to it as well as some peach fragrance. but my soaps turned our very rubbery. Has this ever happened to u.. can you tell me why and what I can do different.
@msanjanetta It sounds like the base could be old. You could try remelting it and adding some extra glycerin to help with the texture. The soap is still safe to use though.
@rabbiaj It depends on what bases you use. Bramble Berry posts all of the ingredients for each base we sell so you can see for yourself. None of our bases use animal fats - but some do contain milk or honey. So although they would all be considered vegetarian they wouldn't all be considered vegan. Hope that helps!
Great vids! I am now making my own soaps , I have one question. I use oils to scent my soap , after I wash my hands the scent is gone. What can I do so that the scent can stick around?
@ju1850 You can try adding more fragrance oil to your soap. But since it's soap it is designed to rinse off. So maybe a better solution is to make a lotion using the same fragrance and then use it after washing your hands!
I love all of your videos can you do a video on how to use Brambleberry sodium lauryl sulfate in soap bath bombs and anything ele it can be used for. Thank you.
Hi, i am new to soap making and i am using melt and pour. I have searched everywhere for a recipe for whipped cream soap that uses melt and pour glycerin soap base. Is it possible to achieve this or do i have to buy a whipped soap base! Thanks
I do have a tutorial on my blog - Soap Queen - for making a melt & pour frosting. It's called Fluffy Frosted Soap. It's kind of tricky in that it sets-up pretty quickly so you have to keep re-heating (or at least I did). It just uses liquid soap and M&P base and is very simple to whip up.
hi anne-marie thank you for replying I did find that tutorial which is what i am going to use for my cupcake soap but I am actually looking for a whipped soap that will stay soft and not harden on me. If i add distilled water and glycerin to the batch will i be able to achieve this or is it pretty much impossible as i dont want to loose my sudding action!
The melt & pour will always sort of solidify no matter what. For a soap that stays soft you will need a specially pre-made whipped base. We once carried a product called Foaming Bath Butter but had to discontinue it. You might do a search online - someone has to have it! :)
I just got mine at a kitchen store. I love the Pyrex measuring cups because they can go in the microwave and the little pour spout makes for neater pouring.
I placed an order with Brambleberry without any help except for watching your Videos. My question is??? I ordered Mica as a Colorant since I liked the color scope the best. Will I need to add anything to this Mica to dissolve before mixing into my melted M&P?
Hi! Thanks for your question. I find that mixing mica with rubbing alcohol really helps it to smoothly mix into the soap base. I show how to do this in 'Episode 2 : Herbs and Colorants' of the How to Make Melt & Pour Soap series.
i love the video!!! One question what is the use of the solubilizer that is on the website. It says it helps incorparate the oils ans smells better so they do not rise to the top yet you never used any in all your videos,is it really neccessary? or is it for candlemaking or some other cosmetic?Thank you for soap making advice I will be purchasing my soap supplies from you.
@midnitebenz Hi! do you mean the IPM? Typically you use a product like that if you are making a perfume. You don't need to use it to make soap because, as long as you stir well, the fragrance won't separate. Hope this helps!
Wow, these videos are awesome! i can't believe you just started these -- you are a real pro. Thanks for doing this. I live in a small town and there is no where to learn -- except from my mistakes! Looking forward to more!
