Hey Jeremy, I'm in the finals for this year's YTSO. I made a video describing my experience so far but I figured that for vlogging advice I would go to the master. Got any tips for me?
Jeremy, if I had known you were so HYSTERICAL I would have made a point to hang out with you more in NYC...oh wait, I was in rehearsals all day, no time for hanging out! So let's do a virtual music collaboration! Send me a message. Bye,
Haha, so hilarious, Jeremy! Great to see that you had a fun time vlogging -- and I LOVE the way that girl bass player talked to you "dude" :) I'm pretty sure you know a thing or two about the difference between Berlioz and Wagner, lol! Anyways, hope to see more videos from you and more awesome music next time you play with Joshua Bell!
It's an arrangement of Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #15 (Rakoczy March), which was originally for piano. The conductor said 'let's play this Berlioz thing', so I'm guessing Berlioz arranged it.
I have always wanted to play the violin but never really got the chance to. I did play the clarinet back in elementary school but didn't like it. I was always amaze by the violin and the sounds that comes out of it (i don't know how to explain it). Hopefully I'll get the chance to learn it, by the way does anyone know how long does it take to learn the violin?
I feel just like you! I am in middle school and im currently playing clarinet. I used to hate it so much but after learning the violin(i just started a few months ago) I think i've grown to like Clarinet also. Nevertheless, the violin is the best! As you've said, it's sound is the most amazing thing about it.
=D It took me about 2 months to learn all the basics; that was during my summer vacation, where I had some hard core training thanks to the leisure of time. If you dont have a lot of time, I suggest it should take about 3-4 months to learn all the basics. :)
Well, this certainly makes me regret not getting in but oh well - maybe they'll repeat this event if it's a success. Next year perhaps (hint hint MTT)?
I want to know what you are eating when you are talking about Holland...

Berlioz: Marche hongroise; otherwise known as Rakoczy March, I think (but don't quote me on that!)
