Please refer to Wikipedia and check your own history.Once you got a big empire, but sadly in 840CE it was overrun by the Kirghiz ppl. Some Uyghur ppl seek refuge in neighoring nations including the Silk Road area of China, now Xinjiang. The original ppl there were Persian tribes since 3000BC and has nothing to do with Uyghurs. They are related to the Tajiks.

There are a lot of political problems in China, between different races. But there is no doubt that Qingjian is currently part of China.She is a Uyghur. But she received education in Beijing. Her teachers are Chinese. That's why she is a Chinese Uygur singer. In USA, there are people of all races: Europeans, Africans, Indians and even a lot of Chinese. But they are now all American. It's the same thing in China. People are of all races, but all called Chinese.

The 1st time I heard Dilber ("dilibaier") was more than 20 yrs ago when I bought a cassette of hers (out of curiosity), comprising Uyghur and Mandarin songs. When I played it at my workplace, one of my Muslim colleagues (he didn't know there r Muslims in China at that time - cos China was still a closed country), told me one of the songs was in Arabic. But now I can't find her CDs in Uyghur anymore. I wish I could hear the Uyghur songs she sang when she was younger (eg.Tarim)

'east turkistan' never existed, because uyghurs traditionally didn't have concept of a Nation or Statehood . it was only the turn of last century that this idea came about.

1886, the country of Uygurs called Kashgaria was occupied by Manju Empire, Uyghurs annouced Independance again in 1933 in Kashgar and in 1941-2 in Ghulja agian. But occupied by China(with the help of ex soviet) in 1949. If you go to uyghuramerican org, you can see the money, solders, flags, people of Eastern Turkistan. China does not admit the rights of Uyghurs and Tibets and their country just like you, x9xi.

Hi x9xi, read my comments carefully please. I said independance of Eastern Turkistan is declared in Kashgar. Kashgar has always been the capital city of Uyghur kingdoms and countries. Like China declared it's establishment in 1949 in Beijing.
