i own a few single random comics that seem to be made in the 80s maybe due to the look of the art work. seen a little bit of the first movie and all of the return of swamp thing and that really introduced me to it. pretty cool
@thatcanadaguy2 I don't know when you are going to get this or how but I'll just type this and wait.
Anyway, Watchmen is out of the regular DC universe, where superheros became real and thus superhero comics went under since the heroes had broken out of there four colored pages into the real world.
Read the back material in Watchmen, I know it gets a little extreme but read it over and you find that Under the Hood talks about IT A LOT and its a sort of documentary on comics themselves.
Hey, great retrospective on the history of Swamp Thing. I must ask, how do you feel about Swampy's recent return? I for one am psyched, but I feel I'm in the minority.
Very interesting and documented, just one thing , as a fan i have to mention, Swamp Thing was not part of the Vertigo imprint during Alan Moore s run, tis is because the Vertigo imprint started near 1989, Moore s run ended back on 1986. That is why you see the Justice league, Batman , and even a Crisis crossover,. Moore s Swamp Thing may be seen as he seed from which the Vertigo tree was born. Be well man.
Just a response on Veitch's reason on leaving Swamp Thing was his unpublished #88 in which he time traveled & met Jesus, DC refusing to put out. Wonder Why?
I myself have just started reading Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing, and am on Love And Death at the moment. It is very interesting to see the origins of the character and your videos were very informative. I now know what issues I have to pick up. Did you get the Roots of the Swamp Thing HC? What did you think of it?
@ajsztehlomovies Do you mean the re-issue of Dark Genesis that finally includes the rest of Len Wein's run, illustrated by Nestor Redondo? Not yet, since between my SC edition and the individual issues I actually have all the issues covered by that one. It's one I'd definitely like to pick up at some point if only to have a nice reading copy of all those issues (and not have to take the originals out every time I want to read 'em!)
@Zaranyzerak Yes! I am a bit sketchy about the price however. I may wait until the price goes down... Do you know if/when the issues of Saga of the Swamp Thing (before Moore's run) will be released in TPB?
Yo Sean, did you know we've been saying Constantine's name wrong? It's John Constantine rhymes with fine. I found out about it a couple of months ago haha.
Yep. all six covers of The One had a "product" theme to them. The first one was a box of Tide, one issue looked like a big can of Coke, another looked like a hamburger. :)
Yep, Man-Thing debuted shortly before Swamp Thing. Pure coincidence. Although their origins are similar, both series' took their respective characters in VERY different directions. Man-Thing was purely instinct driven, for example, whereas Swamp Thing was intelligent.
hey sean, your passion has seriously sparked my interest in comics again, i used to love them as a kid but we are talking beano and dandy 1976 specials etc my tastes have changed somewhat now :) and i have a question for you.. which should i buy.. Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: TRADEPAPERBACK or.. DIRECTORS CUT, they have the same cover artwork but the DC is slightly bluer.. and also.. what would u suggest a great comic/series would be for a new starter in comics? cheers matey..
Hmmm..to my knowledge, the Direcot'r Cut is the only TPB version of Johnny that's ever been released. I suspect it's the exact same thing, just tow different listings. As for a starter series, it depends what you like! Sandman is an AMAZING series if you've never read it before. 10 volumes, a stunning mix of horror, supernatural stuff, mythology, and more. just a great story. And of course Swamp Thing. ;)
Both, sort of. My original DVD (the one I show in the video) is the edited PG version. But in the case, I also have a burned copy of a full DVD rip of the pulled uncut version. I'm always on the hunt for an original of that one, but until then the burn will tide me over.
Wow! The Swamp thing tv series... I didn't even know that was on DVD. The USA network used to run marathons of that all the time. How about the animated series? That only last 5 eps apparently... but there was a toy line too! And the 2001 relaunch of the comic that focused on Swampy's daughter... whaaa!?
Yep, the animated series was released on DVD a few years back. It's out of print and currently fetching over 120 bucks on amazon... The live action show has two sets out, comprising the entire first 2/3 of the show. I still need the second set... Yeah, the 2001 series definitely went in a..erm...DIFFERENT direction! The 2002 series that followed, however, got it more or less back on track...for a while...then was cancelled with issue 29. and thus far, that's the last we've seen of Swampy!
One of my favourite comic runs EVER,masterpiece!!!

what universe is Watchmen apart of
thatcanadaguy2 7 months ago
@thatcanadaguy2 It's own universe. It's a standalone story/universe.
