As I recall from a documentary on the History Channel, the first song they sang back and forth was Silent Night. But it was the troops singing back and forth on both sides. Stirring! Wish all wars would pause like this. Maybe, that way, they would stop!

I mean the song directly after "I'm dreaming of home" which you can just about make out during the conversation between the German commander (Daniel Bruehl, I think) and the German soldier who sings "Stille Nacht" later on in the clip. Not the one after that.
