  • My FAVORITE scene in the movie when the tenor brings the tree to NO MANS' LAND. Full of joy, pride, peace, and above all great spirit he braves the walk and shows he's not armed. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO! Your clip is wonderful! It also shows Nestor/Felix----another clip of this scene was recently taken down! I am so happy yours is here. :)

  • god, i always get choaked up when watching this movie. i love this great movie :)

    Merry Christmas every one!

  • For a moment in a pointless war, the power of Christ overpowers the blood lust of the satanic war mongers.

    Beautiful.

  • Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Delta Junction, Alaska. I watched this for the first time and it definitely is a two thumbs up and a very great way to start the holidays. Quyana caknek (Thank you very much).

  • Merry Christmas! Thanks so much for posting this! Such a wonderful moment in history!

  • Merry Christmas in 2011! :D

  • Guten Abend zu alles! Ich heisse RichtofenRules und ich leibe alles auf Frankreich, Deutschland , Schweiz, Austria, England, und Amerika!!!!

  • Great!Merry Christmas!Greetings from Poland!:)

  • Six People are Taliban!

  • how can you be so fucking sick to dislike this?

  • I love starting the Christmas season with this!

  • It's not Christmas until I watch this and cry.

  • @HumansStupid

Isn't "a few combatants" enough? What a loser, having to nit-pick something wonderful that happened 100 years ago.

  • @wildirish998

    That's amazing.

  • @HumansStupid Duby downer much -_-

  • very touching

  • As I recall from a documentary on the History Channel, the first song they sang back and forth was Silent Night. But it was the troops singing back and forth on both sides. Stirring! Wish all wars would pause like this. Maybe, that way, they would stop!

  • Out of all the christmas miracles, this one is the best!

  • Ahahaha 'Rosbif Land', fantastic.

  • though I am not a christian I almost cried watching this scene.. Christmas does bring magics in many of its own way! Awesome movie :)

  • Ive only seen some of this film, but i did see this bit, and i will say both songs make me proud of having german and scottish (among many others...) ancestry.

  • I mean the song directly after "I'm dreaming of home" which you can just about make out during the conversation between the German commander (Daniel Bruehl, I think) and the German soldier who sings "Stille Nacht" later on in the clip. Not the one after that.

  • Is that the Braes of Killiekrankie the Scots are singing after "I'm dreaming of home"?

  • This movie proofs that it is not always hollywood thats make great movies :D

I always cry when I see this movie :(

  • beautiful, touching, and inspiring..... and props to rolando villazon ^_^

  • what is the movie called!?

  • @Welcometomylife2441 Joex Noel

  • just out of curiousity ... was that song really around during ww1, or was it written for the movie ?

    wonderful by the way

  • these soldiers havea better sence on that war really is than any of us ever will. i believe that these brave souls cherish peace morecloser than any of us will ever know. the politicians, money monglers, and others that are interested intheir own affairs expanding their own interests only to fill their wallets with money and lust for power have no right to claim the future for their own. the future belongs to everyone.

  • EPIC!

  • I'm an french Canadian...but my ancestors were Scottish. It makes me sad that people of my origins did war. The song '' I'm dreaming of home'' touch me a lot...it's a beautiful song

Oh and...sorry for my bad english ! XD

  • I love the Bagpipes! Thank God we are Allies today!!!

  • This was more moving then any christmas thing ive ever seen... thank you TARD lol

  • merry christmas to all my brothers

  • English is beautiful, German is beautiful, French is beautiful...every language I've encountered (Turkish, Dutch, Belgian, Russian...etc.) is beautiful!

  • @seltjorn Your comment is very nice and I do agree with you, but Belgian is not a language. They speak Dutch, French and German in Belgium. :)

  • No man wants to kill another man (by man I mean mankind in general though), this event is a proof of that. We do what we believe is for the good of our nation and our fellow man. There isn't much difference between people despite all the conflict and sorrow.

Merry Christmas! / Merry Christmas/ Glædelig jul/ Frohe Weihnachten!

  • why,did,the,french,and,german,commaders,salute,each,other?

  • @adambelfast1

I think, a respectful gesture under comrades with different uniforms... Merry Christmas

  • @adambelfast1 The officers saluting each other is a testament of, you could say, respect to the rank and the man. If you noiced, the Scottish officer did the same with the German Lieutenat before the French officer came over as well.

  • Merry Christmas ya'll.

  • What a beautiful movie, scene, and sentiment. It's amazing how the celebration of Christ's birth could do something like this. Merry Christmas everyone.

  • @Boris181 It's not so much a religious message as it is one of the inherent good of man. Men in war do not WANT to kill each other, and this was an opportunity to show that. the chosen song isn't important, it could have been freaking Twinkle twinkle little star.

  • @derteqal Ok, where did that inherent good of man come from?

  • @Boris181 Don't bring religion into this.

  • @derteqal Oh so you get to make a retort against my comment, but once I reply it's over? You need to wake up, and realize that other people have opinions.

  • @Boris181 Whatever, man. All I did was reiterate my point, because I thought it might have been unclear.

I didn't want to turn a feelgood moment into an argument about god. But go right ahead.

  • @derteqal You didn't reiterate anything, you threw up a comment that basically said "No I win!" Then you decided to take your ball and go home.

  • IF we could all put aside our differences and come to peace, if only for a while...

  • Happy Holidays to all! Merry Christmas!

  • My favorite part of the movie.

  • i just showed this movie to 60 people at my college campus and all of them agreed this scene was the coolest and most touching part of a movie theyve ever seen, great movie!

  • FFFFFFFFFFff.......please tell me you uploaded then next scene the next parts great as well D:

  • Five people have no soul.

  • @timeyodie Probably some Gingers.

  • Happy Thanks Giving And Marry christmas to all.

  • i hate bloody aisans

  • Gee...Saw this movies last night. I could watch it till i have no tears left: what an epic, moving film and music! Just awesome. All people should be brothers ad sisters: don't let the cold hard cash-elite win.

  • I watched this last night, I was blubbering all through it. It was great. :)

  • This is how it should be. A gentlemen's war.

Even when you have legitamate disagreements that cannot be settled through talk, you can still call the other man a brother and a worthy enemy.

WWI could have been the rebirth of Europe instead of its suicide.

  • @SgtHydra war shouldn't be. especially when it is just for the sake of fighting...

  • @alister222 Look up Wilfred Owen's "The Next War."

It kind of explains how view things.

  • the war shouldn't have started in the first place!

  • and so this is really how it went down?

  • @dragade101 What happens when you have to kill an enemy you don't wish dead?

War propaganda really began after the first great war, after all these unofficial cease-fires, after soldiers realized they had no reason to try and murder one another.... After the 1914 Christmas affairs, all soldiers involved in cease-fires where replaced and heavily punished.

No more cease-fires happened since them.

  • Brothers killing brothers, children killing children. This is what war is.

  • ozzyscot1. My great grand mothers sister's son a Lt. with the Argille Souherland Regiment was there too. He was later killed in the Battle of the Somme. You might check your geneology. Your grandfather and your 17. I;m 62 and he was 2 generations ahead of me.

  • god brings people together no matter how much of enemies they are. when it comes to brotherhood there are no borders

  • to all those who bring nationality into this....this has nothing to do with nationality, but everything to do with HUMANITY...by bringing nationality into it, you are no better than the war mongers of WW1

  • Yes, with deep respect for those who fought in WWI. My respect. This movie is very accurate in details, the life condition of the soldiers from each side. Best regards from Canada.

  • Hol´ mal die Pulle Schampus! OG!

  • We're all the same dammit! Why cant this happen more often? One day I hope this is all that happens in war, a good game of football!

  • @baghdaddy12 lol, football already is war, be careful what you hope for ; )

  • @konradl your right haha

  • A fantastic movie. It should be shown all over europe each chrismas eve !!!

  • how can 4 people dislike this video have they no souls. Great scene i am going to hunt down this movie and buy it

  • miracles really do happen

  • Where does the 4 bagpipes come from?

  • @filsduBaron Different British regiments often attacked while playing music on their bagpipes.

  • @kevind15 I bielived the padre was the only player and the three players who arrive to 6:35 was an error of the movie maker.

I only see now there are other bagpipeson 1:22 when they play "I'm dreaming of home" at

    So it's normal they're 4 to play

  • @kevind15 Uhm,no,only the Scottish regiments...

  • awesome

  • what's the movie called?

  • @12pona "Joyeux Noel", based on a true story

  • I Love this part of the movie! Thanks for sharing it!

  • so beautifull 5*****

  • A fantastic movie for supporters of either side

  • This account of history really shows how souless Kings, Kaisers, Queens, Prime Ministers, Chancellors etc.. really are. Throwing away the lives of men for political and egotistical gains.

  • I picked up this movie one day and decided to watch it, I was curious... I watched Scotsmen, French, and Germans befriend one another...one of the best movies I ever watched...this is one of my favorite scenes

  • 4:28

that is the best reaction ever

  • great movie :)

  • it would be amazing to see that in real life that the guns stopped for one night

  • Are here any Scots?

    Isn't it wonderful... the Bagpipes?!

And such a thing while the war - unbelievable!!!

  • @AlSidre

and goodwill towards men merry christmas from canada

  • @aaaheart . Yes lass. My great grand mothers sister's son was part of the truce fire. Southerland Highlanders Regiment. He was later killed in the Battle of the Somme.

  • merci de cette exemple de paix meme pendant la guerre a cause des chefs qui pensent qu'au pouvoir!!

  • such a powerful moving scene.

  • @m1grand70 It is SUCH a beautiful scene! I love how at the end we see the sketch of the tenor advancing holding the tree. :)

  • we age wars cause of politics, who likes politics? lol

  • December 25, 1914 proves that even in an armed conflict between two civilized yet warring nations, there will still be a few threads that break away from the fabric of war, and guns are put down, even if it is only for a day or two.

  • cant all you people get along anyway they fought on the same side what difference does it make

so to all who want to be racist fuck you and get over your differences

  • are you racist against racists! you bastard!

(just to illustrate the irony of modern society)

  • da song sang by germans

  • Stille Nacht.

  • what is da name of the song?

  • the first one is silent night in german and the second one is come all ye faithful in german

  • come all you faithful is in latin not in german, i think

  • @footballfriend19 I am pretty sure you are right since I did not really follow it.

  • @footballfriend19

    that's true. it's ADESTE FIDELES

  • @Francauvergnat

You racist against the Scots you fucking wanker? You're calling the Scots pussies after they saved your miserable paranoid fuckup troopers so many FUCKING times in WWI and then the frenchies surrender at the start of WWII and WE'RE the pansies? go fuck yourself and your shitty country. You fags don't even deserve a country. Waste of fucking space.

  • hey freelancer why dont you go fuck yourself and anyway the french and scots were allies before the first world war it goes back hundreds of years

  • this movie is awesome !

  • @francauvergnant,

  • Comment removed

  • I also hope they will pass a law for people who don't read other peoples comments properly to be (re-read my comment again and you'll see I was asking for a translation as all it says is WWI Scots and German opera singing. Joex Noel French Movie, hardly sounds like an official name does it?) burned at the stake ya prick

  • Comment removed

  • What the %@£$ you on about?

    Im from Scotland too

  • Sorry, I heard a comment somewhere saying something like "It shows scottish people can be friedly too...", it might not have been you, I could of mad a mistake, but I thought that might of been the correct way to respond.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, I see, Sorry.

  • This is evidence that music can bond men together regardless of race or nationality. It's funny how such a little thing can be so nice.

  • lol, "Spring! kommen Sie da unter!" ...

    entire British regiment clapping ...

  • A lovely wee tune for the pipes!

  • just sad that we french only gave champagnes for this beautiful peace time! we should have sung something ;)

  • Fais des recherches,tu verras que les francais ont participé.Je pense que pour des raisons diverses,Carion n'a pas voulu mouiller les francais

  • SO beautiful, I had tears in my eyes watching this. The nutters in charge of us and wars have so much to answer for.....

  • @theinfideluk i had tears aswell :'(

  • I know why they became together because one of the prayer let them be touch by like telling them to bring peace and thats why they came along together and play foot ball, sing song and eat! This movie is exactly quit sad and is also show how pointless war is.

  • Quite a stupid comment.

  • I know it sounds stupid but is true if u don't belive me go watch the movie

u will just know both sides are Christians

  • I think this is a complete generalistion. I am a Scotsman. Please do not attack a whole people (the english) with unfounded nonsense.

  • Your comment is not in the spirit of what this film is supposed to represent, Andyp12.

  • Look ladeen, this isn't about the bleedin' English, it's about the fact that these lads were brave enough to stand against their commanders and go the sensible route of peace. I'm Irish, and yes I have my grudges against the English, after all they've done little good for us, but this is better than English or Scottish or Irish, this is about all humanity uniting for joy and peace.

  • If I lived in such a world I have little doubt that the context of this video would mean nothing to me, however I am no fool. Why don't you try to understand the fact that humanity's been dealing with wars, genocides, and famines for centuries. This has to stop, and it is the cowardice to not address the facts and look to a positive solution, and blind foolishness of persons who prefer to shout down the "progressive idealists" that deter humanity from the proper course that she should take.

  • Yeah way to completely miss my point dreamer, im surprised someone like you would even bother to try to understand anything of meaning.

  • im part irish but mostly english and i do agree with u

  • i agree with you lads about the unity for joy and peace. infact i would dare say it was the bravest and most humain act of the war

  • @CluainSharoise damn right mate...

  • u git, nearly every christian (I don't blame the jewish and other religions, they just care about other things) took part in this, English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish and every other commonwealth regiment, just as the French and Germans (apart from the Prussian Guards, those guys were super-tough mothe-hubba's!) I'm Flemish, and if there's one country that has always supported mine, it's the U.K., a country created by the unification politics of England!

  • Merry Christmas to everybody

I wish you the best for you and your family!

  • shows there is some light in the world no matter how bad things get

  • Whats the name of this movie?

Qu'est-ce que c'est le nom de c'est film?
